The total distance from there is about 3km. On the top you can find a sign with information on the history of this place! Bring your lunch and coffee, and you might even make up a fire! You can make up a fire here, even camp for the night, or just enjoy a nice lunch. Not much view to talk about , but the mines are after all what you come to see. I love this walk (run!) due to the nice location by the lake and the wide, nice path to follow. If it has been raining, part of the road are rather wet!

If not living nearby, you can park nearly everywhere and start your walk from there. Bring a flashlight if walking here in the evening during wintertime. You are surrounded by forest, lake, stream or land all the time, and down by the lake there is a nice, little place to bring children (or dogs!) for a swim! If there is much snow during winter, this is a very nice and safe place to sledge (the hill from the forest down towards the lake). Look at the picture with map showing; just before the road turns right past 1km landmark, you can turn left into the forest to get up to the local wellknown landmark "Fugleleiken" with a look out tower! Hukeberg runden takes about 40minutes to walk, and about 14-18min to run!

The trail up goes mostly through the forest, however, once you get to the top, a fantastic view on Oslo will reveal itself! As this was my first time, I didn't find any specific path, just went up, till some kind soul advises me to follow blue marks on the trees, which you can do both on the way up and down.

I have hiked all over the U.S. and never felt as unsafe as I did on this local trail. When you enter the park to hike to this viewpoint you have to CLIMB OVER AN ELECTRICAL FENCE, and GO THROUGH PRIVATE PROPERTY WITH 'NO TRESPASSING' signs. WTF? Not only that, but when you happen upon a beautiful pond in the middle of the forest the experience is quickly ruined by the fact that the path DOESN'T HAVE A BRIDGE but has A PILE OF UNCUT LOGS that MOVE when you step on them. This path is not maintained, is not welcoming, and is very dangerous at certain parts. Also, there are multiple spots where there are fallen trees HANGING OVER the path that could fall at any moment - I understand not wanting to interfere with nature's process, but isn't safety important at all? This simply would not pass in the U.S. - this trail would be deemed a YSD 2 or 3 trail and would not simply be labeled a hiking trail.

The area around the Island Jeløya in Moss is very popular for family walks or running, and also a…read morefamous place with artists showing out their art and crafts in the galleries around on the old farms of Alby and Rode. There are also nice cafeterias serving you something to eat! You can follow wide paths along the seaside and into the nature reservate; surrounded by mystic, high trees, or stop by the beach, or by any of the nice lookouts, to enjoy the nice view and also see the many ferries cross the fjord! The area has a very old history; not only from grand old times with very early settlements, but also from "modern old times" with manor houses! I love to bring the family here for sundays walks and beach barbeque, or attending the annual markets arranged by the local artists!

After 3km you can follow a path down to the lake and find a nice place to sit down (Grevlingbukta) with opportunity to make up a barbeque/grill. The path's are nice and easy to follow, but a bit muddy and slippery when there has been rainy weather.

You can follow this dustroad forth-and-back, and decide whether to make it a long walk/run/bike or a short one, just by turning wherever you want to. Often I actually drive the car to the end of this dust road in front of a barrier (about 4km) and start my run from here, bringing me deeper into the peaceful woods. There you can go on into different path's ending up in the neighbour county! Starting from the beginning of this road you can bring a trolley , bike or simply walk!

The normal…read morerecommend route to the viewing point is only about 30 mins, this is good BUT if you want a long scenic and BEAUTIFUL WALK just follow the path straight up from where you get off the metro in vettakollen and you will walk for about 20 minutes- past the normal route on your right- and you'll see a path at the top. If you follow this and keep going 'right' down path choices you will reach the viewing point after about 2 hours. TOTALLY WORTH IT.
