The meat was overcooked and the salsa was clearly past the expiration date because it had a strange odor. Neither of us could finish our beans because the cheese tasted funny too. The food was still really warm even though we drove 30 mins before eating it! Birria quesadilla was sooo flavorful and indulgent - cheese perfectly melty and tortilla perfectly toasty on the outside. Birra fries were loaded and they used steak fries which is just perfect. The burrito was also huge and also really flavorful! Their red and green sauces were great too - wish we asked for more. Fantastic food. It is a new building so it is very clean. The staff was friendly and responsive. I was attended too promptly and the wait was only about 10 minutes during my first visit. I called ahead on subsequent visits. We were visiting family in the area and staying at a motel a few miles away. Restaurant food can get old fairly quickly so I was searching for something different. I found a treasure here! It was 11 miles from our motel but I drove back 2 more times during our stay. I rarely take the time to write reviews but I have to give a massive shout out for this place. One draw back, it's location is a little tricky. I've had the shrimp tacos, the shrimp Quesadilla. Both were great! The shrimp are huge. I placed an order with Door Dash. It was promptly delivered. It was delicious. The only problem I have is that you HAD to get a sugary drink. I can't have the sugar, and I don't like diet sugars. All I drink is tea and water. We have eaten Fuego a ton of times over the years and it has never disappointed until tonight. I am certain this is the first time we have had it since the new owners took over. We have always LOVED the al pastor at Fuego. Like it used to be TOP NOTCH better than anywhere else's. Not anymore. It used to be dark red so full of flavor and now it's light brown and lacks any flavor. Also, it was the only place to get quality aquas in town but, tonight my pineapple aqua tasted like I squeezed one slice of pineapple into a gallon of water. This is my second time here and I honestly have no complaints this is the best Mexican spot I've tried not only is the food authentic it's flavorful and just mouth watering and I can't forget the vibe and ambience when you walk in the restaurant it's just like when I was a kid and went over to my abuela's. Ordered a torta off door dash and it was just meat and cheese, called the restaurant and the girl said on the phone they added everything which was a lie and when I showed to the place the worker Gizzelle had attitude and said that the owners don't refund and I said I just wanted the stuff for it then and she got snarky with me! They said that the Owner Francisco is more worried about losing money than keeping a customer. I really like the birria tacos and birria quesadillas. The meat is soft and easy to chew and has a lot of flavor. The horchata was a bit too thick but good flavor. The cucumber lime agua fresca was good as well. I was disappointed with the hot Cheetos esquites. It was just corn, small amount of Mayo, and hot Cheetos. It lacked flavor, it had no cheese or butter and could really use lime and/or chili powder like tajin. I don't recommend the esquites. I would come back for tacos and agua fresca. read more
