Conveniently located just outside and across the street from the Karstadt at the Wandsbeker Quaree, Asia Mekong offers exotic fresh produce and other food products from the Far East to the shoppers of east Hamburg.
In front of the store is a dedicated, customer-only parking lot fitting up to three cars.
Selection of fresh produce from Vietnam is very good. Large selection of other products from Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Phillipines, etc. Frozen section includes fish, eel, shrimp, and prepared foods like spring rolls and red bean dim sum. Prices are fair.
Workers are very attentive, constantly asking if you need help.
Had I not had a bad experience there yesterday, I would have given this place four stars. The store owners approached me as I was taking notes on my iPhone and accused me of writing down prices. They complained I spent too much time in the store last week. I'm not quite sure what they were afraid of. Both times I spent money purchasing items. I was only making notes in preparation for writing my first review on Qype.
Being accused of doing something malicious offended me, especially since I was absolutely innocent. For this reason, I must give this store only one star. I will never be able to return without feeling the staff are suspiciously staring at me and watching me like a criminal.
