This place is a must-stop if you're in the area! I had the hamburger, and it was excellent--juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. The meal included fries and a drink for only $10.99, which is a great value. I ordered the Bison burger and they were out, so I settled for a cheese burger. The patty was maybe a 1/8th pound... and the bun was very over sized for the meat inside... my wife had the grilled chicken sandwich and it came with ham on it??? Stopped there for a burger, a coke and shake about 5. A waitress greeted us outside and took our order. Burger was ok the shake was really good. What alarmed us the bill was about 20.00 we didn't get a receipt but when we looked at our charge on our online banking the charge was 38.85. this was alarming to us the waitress must have added a big tip. I called twice leaving a message for the owner to return my call with no return call. I wonder if lady that took my calls even gave the message to owner? read more

One of the waitresses was extremely rude. She yelled at us as we walked to the table to join our family members who had already sat down, apparently because we were "in the way." Then continued to yell at our kids if they even stood next to our table. While we were eating, we witnessed the same lady yelling at nearly every group that arrived. No customers seemed to know what to do upon entering. An order window would make things much easier for everyone. I waited about 40 minutes for our check. When I poked my head in to ask about it, I was told to stay away from the door and return to my table. When I finally got my check, it was incorrect and had been overcharged. I just paid it to get out of there. It was honestly one of the strangest dining experiences I've ever had. Thankfully, the other customers, especially one family nearby, helped lighten the mood by laughing through it with me. I wasn't even angry about it. This was the best experience I have had in years. If there was an option for 10 stars I would have chose that. The waitress was the kindest woman in the state. She took my 2 year old daughter to the kitchen and helped her make a soft serve ice cream cone and treated her like a daughter. There is nothing better than the only place to stop for lunch being freaking FANTASTIC! We stopped in at the Frostop Drive-in in Idaho on our way back from Montana, and it was such a good idea. They were moderately busy but still great service. The shakes came out quick, and he loved his Huckleberry shake. We both got the bacon cheeseburger basket, and it was LOADED with super crispy bacon. The bun was so good, and all the veggies were super fresh. The fries were perfectly crisp, and their fry sauce is pretty good, too. But honestly, the best part - the price! Their burger baskets (burger fries and drink) are all under $14.... the plain burger is even less. The stalls are a bit narrow, but we fit just fine in our big vehicle. We wanted a snack after coming back from seeing the Mesa falls. Huckleberry shakes hit the spot. The Fresh berries and a wafer cookie on top of shake were a lovely treat. The friendly server came out to take our order and offered us a pup cup. My dog had never had one before , so why not. Omg , she made it so special and it had bacon strips on top. We were on our way home from West Yellowstone to Sacramento. We both got out of the car to use the "facilities" There was a "do not enter" sign at the door but a really nice friendly woman came out to greet us. Great service! Except...Mike said NOT a root beer float, and I said I didn't really want anything. She talked me into a "small" chocolate shake, not hard to convince me. We both used the restroom, and she came out with a root beer float (even though Mike had specifically said JUST ROOT BEER). My "small chocolate shake" was not small, it was not exactly a shake, it came with a cookie, a large spoon and a giant straw and was topped with ice cream, not drinkable. In a different circumstance it would have been great, but we were driving a long distance and didn't want to deal with trying to eat ice cream with a spoon. Too messy. She also added (what I think was) extra Hershey syrup....even messier and stickier and too sweet when trying to "drink" it in the car. Maybe she was trying to be nice but she read us wrong. Maybe I should have said "I don't want anything because it's too messy on a long road trip". But Mike specifically said no ice cream, no root beer float, and she pretty much ignored him. At our next stop neither one of us wanted to touch the sticky cups to throw them away (because they were not empty). Frostop Drive In is located on Highway 20 with a large root beer sign in the corner, you can't miss it. On our recent road trip, my husband, our little girl dog and I were driving towards Twin Falls and happened to see this on the road and decided to make a U turn and come back to check this place out and also get a photo with the giant root beer (my husband is a big fan of roadside attractions, which helps to break up long road trips). We parked and took a few photos of our little girl with the giant frosty mug and then an employee came up to us and asked if we would like to order anything. After looking over the menu, we ended up getting: Small Huckleberry Shake, $5.29 after tax- Wow this is definitely a pretty large size for a small, which is perfect for sharing (but the employee did tell me that they also sell a child size shake, which I probably would have preferred). This shake was more like scoops of ice cream that we ate with a spoon. I liked the sweet flavor of the huckleberry and also liked that there were pieces of huckleberry pieces in it. This shake is also served with 2 wafer cookies. My husband and I both liked this shake (our little girl surprisingly didn't try it after she sniffed it and moved her head away. She really loves ice cream but I she isn't a fan of berries in general). Service was friendly but wait time was longer than expected. When my husband had asked another employee about our shake, that employee said they are working on it. Eventually a few minutes later, the same employee that had taken our order earlier came out with our order and apologized for the wait. She said they had got hit with several customers all of a sudden. Please note that we came last Friday, around 11:45 am. This was a nice find on the road and I liked my shake but would probably order a child size if I was to come back. How does one really explore the menu when time is so limited? I knew I would need to stop here the minute we met. I was coming through town on my way to brunch at a house, and there you were--your giant frosty mug sign-slash-art piece out front. This is the kind of place you have to try--the side of the road burger joint. The drive in. The dive in. It's old and not so shiny, but the DIY paint job is charming and my goodness, did I mention the giant root beer float out front? Fast forward two days and it's all we've been talking about on our way out of town. Unfortunately the timing was bad, but you best believe we did indeed stop to at least get a treat. I ordered a huckleberry shake, and she ordered the classic root beer float. I looked at the menu. I have to come back. The sampler platter calls to me. Fried mushrooms, jalapeno poppers, Frostop spicy potatoes, fried zucchini, mozzarella sticks, fried pickle chips... it's a heart attack platter and it will be mine. It's a drive-in, and truly they do offer carhop service. We opted to go on the front door and order from there, and though service is a bit awkward (not to mention limited seating in the name of social distancing) we ended up just hanging out by the bar, paying, and then getting food to go. I wanted to love this place!! Across the street from our hotel, we swung by for an early dinner on Saturday late afternoon. The staff was pleasant and allowed us to seat ourselves. The menus don't explain what is on each burger well so after a few questions our orders were in. We ordered two western burgers, fries, and waffle fries. The burgers even loaded with bbq sauce were dry. The buns were dry and the patties were over cooked. The fries were good. We planned to come back to enjoy a late night ice cream sundae later. We asked about closing as it says 9 or 10p online depending on where you look. It was about 5pm and someone that appeared to be the owner said, "whenever I feel like it". We didn't end up coming back. Again, our server was sweet!! Would have loved to enjoy this place. I really wanted to like this place but it just wasn't good. The bun to meat ratio is off. I felt like I was eating a thick piece of bread that had a hint of burger flavor. And what I could taste of the meat it was low quality and bland and to top it off, they use spring mixed Lettuce on their burgers which, in my opinion, is wrong! I'll eat that for a salad but don't put that type of lettuce on a burger. The French fries were okay. They were not hot and fresh because I'm pretty sure our order was sitting out for a bit before they brought it to our table. In defense of every gal working there, they were all hustling to serve everyone. There were several large groups the day we were there and all the employees were doing their best to help and serve their customers.
