I had a great cut there by Sade. The place is very up to date and comfortable. I feel confident any stylist there would do a great job.

Called on a Tuesday for a late appointment due to my work schedule. Was offered Friday appointments of 12, 12:30, 1 or 2:30 (at the latest). I selected 2:30 and even took the time to confirm that it worked (because I was told it was the latest). The receptionist confirmed and said it was not an issue at all. I receive a confirmation call on Thursday confirming the 2:30 appointment. On Friday morning, I received a voicemail letting me know that the stylist had some openings earlier at 12, 12:30 or 1 if I wanted to make changes--the same ones that were available when I made the appointment. I didn't return the call because these times obviously did not work with my schedule and I wanted to keep my appointment time at 2:30. An hour and half before my appointment, I received another call now claiming that the stylist is sick and will not be taking my appointment. It was clearly obvious the stylist did not want to wait around for my appointment. If the stylist was truly sick, she should not be taking ANY appointments. I find it strange that she could work in the morning, push for me to come for a 12, 12:30 or 1 pm appointments but was now sick and couldn't do the scheduled 2:30 appointment. From reading the few reviews on here, I can honestly say that Dubuque doesn't really use Yelp. That being said, if more people did, there would be several more five star reviews! My partner and I have been going to Fringe for around 5 years, ever since moving from Chicago and failing to find a great hairstylist for the first few haircuts. Luckily we found Jen Gratz at Fringe or my partner may have never agreed to stay in Dubuque. If you are looking for a great cut and conversation while getting one, check out this salon. I contacted this salon out of the blue. My sister and I had our usual color/style/streaks. We both have been to 5 stars salons, this is NOT a 5 star salon. I have had amazing styles paying less for much better. This is not Chicago, there was nothing extraordinary about this salon. It was not worth $120 dollars. In the city you receive biscotti's, cappuccino, wine, sparkling water. There was never ever any idle chairs. This day, there were many idle chairs. The day was in October, beautiful. I'm a guy in my upper 20's, so I'm a little more than picky about my hair. I had a hairdresser for about 2 years, but decided I wanted to try someone closer to where I live. Samantha Jones has been cutting my hair now for over a year- and I can't tell you how satisfied I've been. Not only is she charming, fun to talk to-and a listener- if you like talking like me- she also pays extremely good attention to detail, and has kept a consistent stream of trims and haircuts for me 2 to sometimes 3 times per month. The rest of the staff is lovely and the new location is a piece of art. They provide you with a refreshment of your choice when you check in- and offer razor neck shaves that a lot of other salons don't. The place looks amazing, the people was very nice and talkative. I recently move to Dubuque and decide to try this place to get a nice hair change. Well the girl was very friendly i explain that i wanted a long bob, and to make it look really in angled. I showed some photos everything looked cleared. Well no, i mean I understand she hesitate to cut more my hair but after two times of telling her you can cut more. I gave up.... That was a little disappointed.
