Not too thrilled with this place. The place smelled weird. The waitress saw that I had 3 kids and didn't give any placemats with crayons for the kids to occupy themselves while waiting. When given our forks and knives I found food still stuck on a fork and on a knife. Two of my children ordered friendzy that was given in a small cup but was only filled not even half way. The service was terrible. It was 5 people and the food took no lie 2 hours to get. If I could go back in time to ANY EVENT IN HISTORY I would go back to this afternoon and just tell my mom I'm not hungry and stay home. This Friendly's used to be great, but ever since they remodeled it several years ago, the quality of the place has sharply worsened. It's been absolutely terrible the last few times I have been there. The bathrooms are disgusting and smelly, the floors are never vacuumed, the service is very slow. The whole place is smelly and not clean at all. This place should be condemned! It's disgustingly dirty, especially the bathrooms! The bathrooms reek of urine. On top of all of this, The food is most of the times dreadful. Last time I went there with my aunt, she got a patty melt and it was so greasy, she couldn't eat it. I have always had a kind kinship to this franchise. It is one of the only true Northeastern chain restaurant I loved. However, it has extremely deteriorated over the passed few years. I brought a friend visiting from the West coast to this location and was told the wait would be 10-15 mins and we were seated 45mins later. They where severely understaffed and the food was passable. I used to love Friendly's... quick, easy, cheap.... From my experience yesterday... I don't think I will ever return to ANY Friendly's chain. I don't think I have had a worse experience at any eatery in my life (and I am including fast food joints)... it started with the 15 minute wait to seat (and it wasn't busy), my own fault for not walking out then. When we were finally brought to our table the bench seats had someone's leftover food on them and then after looking around I noticed how filthy the whole place was... again my fault for not getting up and leaving but, I was dead set on having a traditional Friendly's burger and a sundae... it got worse.... simple order, cheese burger, American cheese and waffle fries.... waiter takes the order even repeats it back I am now thinking to myself ok, at least I am going to get the meal I want... HA, burger comes out without cheese... waited another 20 minutes for the waiter to come by so I can ask for a slice of cheese (please remember, it wasn't busy in there, so what the hell he was doing is beyond me) waiter shows up looks at me like I have 4 heads when I ask for a slice of cheese - but, kindly grabs my plate to slap a piece of cheese on the burger and warm it back up.... burger shows up.... one bite into it and I realize the entire inside is still raw.... REALLY??? the damn thing had been on the grill twice... I am not even going to go into how wrong the sundae was that we ordered.. put it this way, if an Ice cream place can't get their ice cream order correct there is clearly a problem... Had a lunch special hamburger. To readers thinking of ordering it ... Don't bother. It's the size of a children's at the price over $5. It's quality was lower than any fast food place. Came here for lunch with my family today and I don't think I'll be going back. Our waitress seemed friendly but in a rush to take our orders. Our drinks came back pretty quick but our food too almost a half hour and it wasnt very warm. They screwed up one of the orders. So after waiting that long for something that should only have taken 10 minutes to make, the waitress asks how everything was. We haven't even started eating yet. So yea, another rushed moment. We also got ice cream for after. That took about 15 minutes to get back to us.. and it was melting. Almost like they put the ice cream together and left it on the counter for 5-10 minutes. This whole time, we ended up sitting next to some other guests that were so rude and obviously trying to be that way. The management never said a word to them and we were not the only table that was getting fed up with them. The bathrooms were disgusting too. Only two stalls in the ladies room, neither of them being handicapped. One toilet was so filthy I was too sick to even enter the stall any further. There was hardly any soap left and no paper towels. When you flushed the water came back a brownish color and smelled bad. There was wet toilet paper all over the floor. I have seen cleaner bathrooms at rest stops on the highway. read more

I just looked and saw that I didn't finish this review when I first started writing it, but it should be published..........Nov. 2014.....Today was Veterans Day...free breakfast for veterans. Today, Friendly's took their appreciation of veterans a MAJOR step further. I haven't eaten here since I was a kid, but I wanted to have a nice breakfast and I am a vet so I went. The food was really good, but I noticed a WW2 veteran in the booth near me falling asleep and over heard him tell his waitress he wasn't feeling very well. She was so very kind to him, mentioning that he didn't eat much and she would be more than happy to box up what he had not eaten. She helped him up out of the booth, but kept asking him if she could call someone to help him. This waitress followed him out into the parking lot and came back into the restaurant with a worried way, talking to her fellow staff about her concerns. I walked out to see if I could help,as did a few other vets. He was about to drive away but stopped because of this waitress. I introduced myself and offered to drive him home. Other vets came out to help and he finally relented to being driven home. A fellow veteran offered to follow us in his car, get him home safe, and give me a ride back to friendly's. He was brought home safe and sound and medical services were at his home when we arrived because of the security detail at his place of residence. When I arrived back at friendly's restaurant, the waitresses were asking if he was alright and how he was doing. I had left my coat behind and my half eaten breakfast. I felt bad, these waitresses work their butts off and I didn't want them to think I wouldn't tip them. My coat was there but my table was clear. My waitress smiled at me and asked me to sit back down and served me a new full hot breakfast. These people are truly amazing and I wish I could give more than just 5 stars. Always love going out to friendly. We walk in, see 4 groups of 3 or more waiting. Understandable as they are larger groups and usually have to wait for tables to open. We see 5 or so tables of 2 open and 2 booths open, wait a few minutes for the hostess, she then tells us it's at least a 20 minute wait. While we discussed if we wanted to wait, an older couple came in, and they were told it was a 30 minute wait, needless to say we all left. read more

Grandma and I went to F for breakfast on recommendation from friends. I have to admit I did not have high expectations. But, we were pleasantly surprised. It turned out to be a very good breakfast experience. We were seated soon as we walked in. Coffee and tea served immediately. Grandma says the tea service was very good, the water was very hot and there were two teabags provided. I ordered a ham/cheese omelette. It was well prepared and the toast had real butter on it. Grandma ordered a combo with brioche french toast with two eggs over easy. The eggs were prepared perfectly and the french toast was well prepared, a bit crispy and tasty. Service was attentive. Coffee was topped up a couple times. Grandma's second tea was also very hot as she likes it. It was all a better experience than expected. I so wish I could give them 5 stars but just can't. Daughter & I arrived at 11:45 for lunch, waited 5 minutes to be seated with no one in front of us and the help just standing around. Drink ordered was taken fast, we had just sat down. Drinks arrived and order was taken by noon. Here's where it went downhill, by 12:30 no food, tried to flag waitress but she would turn away, finally by 12:45 food arrived, steak tips and sides, COLD, Burger room temp, fries barely warm. As we had places to be we ate, asked for check and tried to leave. Again was ignored until I shouted at the kitchen door that I would wait only 1 more minute to pay if not then thank-you for the free meal. Manager came running at that point. Waitstaff do not introduce themselves by name, and aren't very "friendly". When my son and I came in one night (it was not busy at all!) we stood and waited for almost 10 minutes to be seated. The food came, and then the waiter disappeared. We were sitting there forever waiting for water and then we decided to have water at home as it was getting late and we just wanted the check so we could leave! It took the guy forever to bring it. This is a very good Friendly's compared to others with slow service. They are very efficient, pleasant, and I have never had an order come back wrong. The ice cream can sometimes take a little longer than expected to come and sometimes is a little melted but nothing I would complain about. Perfect for kids. We will definitely return! read more

Easily one of the worst places I have been to in years! I went to Friendly's with my aunt, last time was this past November, and I can tell you I am never going there again. Friendly's is deplorable. The bathrooms are digusting. When I went into the bathroom, I could smell nothing but pee and my aunt went in the woman's room and her shoes got stuck to the floor! No I did not just stutter, the floors are so sticky with pee that my aunt could feel it on her shoes. It is very unsanitary in this place. I have seen many, but this is disgusting. French fries everywhere, screaming, whining kids, the tables are always dirty, the service is slow and the waiters have no clue what they are doing. I got the Dippin' Chicken, and the chicken tenders were dry. I think that these chicken are just frozen chicken and thrown into a microwave. My aunt got a patty melt and it was greasy. My aunt had an upset stomach all day. I have been to Friendly's before and it was good, but the quality of this one in Danvers has just deteriorated. Do not go to the this place! I am warning you. If your idea of fun is dried up/greasy food, dirty tables, screaming 5 year old kids and babies and filthy, disgusting bathrooms, then this Friendly's is for you. We went to Friendly's today and it was a horrible experience. We waited in line at the podium for 25 minutes while looking at several empty uncleaned tables. When we were FINALLY seated, we waited another 20 minutes and not one waitress acknowledged us. There were dirty tables around us and no one cleaning them OR any waitress tending to newly seated customers. On our way out, I went to complain and found that I was speaking to the manager. Since we went into the Peabody location and there were 2 young men working no one acknowledged us or to say someone will be with you in a minute nope we had to ask after 7 minutes of them tasking and making other ice creams is there someone who can help us the man in blue says no I can't ring on the register ok great cuz that's not what I asked them the man in the red with bling earrings didn't look at us just said what's up what can I get you I asked how many scoops come in a large and what is the size cup look like he turns around points to the wall and said three inside that one then walked away really dude you walk away well there are 3 sizes on the wall and two look the same and what kind of service is this I'm sorry was he having a bad day did he need a hug and someone tell him it's gonna be okay well thank you mister miserable man and friendlys for hiring this tool we simply walked out went to stop n shop found a new company I've never eaten it was blue bunny peanut butter party ppl who love hunka chunka pb fudge this is its copy it's fantastic and the price it would of cost for 4 ice creams well I got tub of ice cream waffle cones whip cream toppings only cost a half of that so not only did that tool save me money but now I found a new ice cream and I have more for next few nights for kids and I will never return. In all honesty DO NOT GO. I went there with a group of friends a few days back before they were closing. Apparently there hours are wrong on the web and they said they were closing at 11, and they actually closed at 10. We went at 930, were fed quickly, given ice cream, and left. The next day, I was sick to my stomach. I have had non stop constant diarrhea ever since eating there. I had happened to eat the Honey BBQ chicken sandwich which tasted okay. I am never going there again after that experience. I recommend not eating there ever. I eat at friendly's a lot back home and this is the first time it has ever happened to me. Take your chances but, on that strip over in Peabody there are PLENTY of other place I can choose from. read more

We were seated at 4:37 and didn't get our check until an hour and a half after and we ate quickly. I would recommend the name be changed from "Friendly's" to "Slowly's". My boyfriend and I decided to go to Friendly's tonight and we were really looking forward to it. After tonight I will NEVER return to this Friendly's ever again! Once we walked in, we waited at the hostess stand to be seated. This was around 7:45pm and it was not very busy. There was two employees serving ice cream that stared at us a few times and decided to ignore us. Then there were two waitresses that continued to do the same thing. We waited for 15 minutes and were still not seated. I have never received such disrespectful service in my entire life and am absolutely livid! After 15 minutes past, we decided to leave as we were still being ignored and no one said a word as we walked out the door. Awful experience tonight - Came in with my family tonight to celebrate the last day of school with my kids. Apparently every parent had the same idea. The place was packed. The host was very nice greeted us with a smile and sat us at a table. After 20 minutes of waiting watching our supposed waitress sit with her boyfriend and kid who were eating - walking by us grinning several times - I approached another waitress mentioning we have been waiting over 20 minutes and no one has even come up to us and asked is what we wanted to drink. The waitress told us she would get our waitress. The waitress who walked by is several times talking to her boyfriend and playing and kissing them - comes over not even apologizing and asks if she can take our order - having two young kids with ADHD this isn't exactly easy - as she takes our drink she starts to walk away - I asked if we could order as well (since it's been 30 minutes since we arrived and it was already getting dark. She took our order and then disappeared for another 20 minutes as we watched her walk her bf and kid out the door - then she went into the kitchen and was on her cell phone as the place is packed - I heard people next to us also complaining about the service. She comes out with both our appetizer and dinner at the same time and got half our orders again. My husband asked for silverware and napkins and I asked for some honey mustard. She never came back with the honey mustard so I approached another waitress asking her for honey mustard - the other waitress got it for us right away while our waitress was again on her cell and just socializing in the kitchen. When it came time for our ice cream order we waited and she got it wrong again - she didn't even have the guts to give us the check - she had another waitress give it to us as she smirked at me and went back into the kitchen. I asked the other waitress if she was going home and she said no she just asked her to give us the check. As I took my kids to the car my husband let another waitress know how bad the waitress was - the waitress who spoke to my husband said a lot of people complain about this waitress and not many people like her - she then proceeded to say she's pregnant again even though I didn't see her showing - sorry but I have been pregnant twice puking nine months straight and I was still pleasant to work with - no excuse. I am floored that after all the complaints about this waitress they still keep her on! It's called friendly's - not attitudes! We felt that this is probably one of the better Friendly's in the area. Our visit the other night was disappointing. First, it was absolutely FREEZING in the restaurant. I mean, I know it's summer time, but it was so cold in the restaurant, three old ladies sitting near us had hoodies on and were shivering. It was a very uncomfortable temp especially to eat ice cream! Our appetizer (cheesy fries thing) came out with the meal. It would have been nice to have the appetizer first but oh well. The problem was it was luke warm as if the cook finished it but the waitress neglected to bring it to us in a timely manner because she was too busy joking around with the other staff maybe (which was what was totally going on) ? The cheese was congealed. We were seated by the kitchen and the music in the restaurant part was competing with what the cooks were playing and that wasn't very pleasant to my ears.
