I usually go to Atlanticare Urgent Care and when the office in EHT was crowded, I went to Family Urgent Care thinking they were in the Atlanticare network. The gal at the front desk was very nice and helpful. A++ there. The nurse also very nice and thorough. She gave me a strep test, covid test and flu test. She answered all my questions with patience and intelligence. She said the nurse practitioner would be in shortly. When he walked in, he asked me a question and looked at the laptop while I started to answer. 15 seconds into my answer, he interrupted me to shout something to the nurse who was not in the room. When she answered, I continued answering his first question and he did it again! As he's looking at the laptop, he interrupted me and shouted a question again to the poor nurse who was not in the room. After she answered, he looked at me and said, "go on". I asked him if he could agree that he would not interrupt me again. He agreed and kept his word. He told me he would prescribe me a cough medicine, cortisone, flu med and an antibiotic. When I got home from the pharmacy with the meds, I saw that he had prescribed me amoxicillin which has penicillin in it. I am allergic to penicillin and cannot/do not take any meds with penicillin in it. So, why was that done? I realized that the office NEVER asked me (1) what my current meds were and (2) what I was allergic to. Every doctors office asks those 2 questions and rightly so. All doc offices ask these 2 questions and don't put that responsibility on the patient...we're sick and not feeling well!!! But this office doesn't and it's a big safety hazard since they can (and do) prescribe something that the patient is allergic to or could have a negative effect with other meds the patient is taking. I will not be going to this office any more. I've read a review on this business which was not a great one and the owner responded by attacking the person who wrote the review. Never addressed the original problem. So, I expect the same thing here. The owner will probably respond and spin this into it being my fault (the patients fault). read more
