The place is pretty large and although in quite ropey Archway the clientèle seemed nice. The menu was quite extensive with a range of breakfast and more traditional Med' foods such as meze's and kebab wraps. The plus side is the cheapness. Cheeeeeeap! I love that word. There were starter meze's for £6.95 an dfull English breakfasts were less than a £5. I went for a lamb wrap that was served with fries and a decent salad. It cost me £4.95 and I was happily content afterwards. This place has a nice feel and if I am ever in the Archway area, this would be my quick lunch time eatery of choice.

At least, not yet. The service is very friendly, seemingly very efficient and helpful. The Adana kebab and Iskender kebabs were delicious with the right spice levels. Exactly the way I remember it in Istanbul. The starters are very well priced, but the portions are also accordingly sized (meaning don't expect American sized portions). The rice that came with the kebabs had distinctly less butter than usual (whether in London or Istanbul). Ok, so maybe an emerging trend to move towards a healthier meal. The bill, which came with three pieces of Turkish delights, at £20 per head, including a bottle of wine, was a fair deal. I'll give this one 3.6 (rounds up to 4) because the food wasn't infinitely memorable, but I'd go back for more if I were in the neighbourhood.

Starved we looked at menus at all the restaurants checking for options for me (Gluten Free - Vegetarian). As I checked out the menu here, the gentleman behind the counter who was incredibly friendly, invited us to try the sauces. We thanked him, wandered around a bit and came back to try them. We were hooked, they were fantastic. We just had to eat here! He pointed out the Gluten Free Sweet Potato Falafels when I asked about options. So I happily ordered a bowl with all the GF options he had to top it with and had the Indian Sauce on it. We got the Waffle Fries to share. The food was very fresh, very tasty and really hit the spot. I couldn't have been happier with the service or food. The Sweet Potato Falafels were just great, and I was not disappointed at all. He explained that this is a small family business, his wife is the creator of the delicious sauces. The idea for the restaurant came when he realized he had to share this deliciousness with the world and I agreed and told him to congratulate her on such fantastic food.

Three employees were ready to serve and have pleasant conversation. They were all so nice. I noticed all the ingredients laid out in containers in front of me, which I though was really cool because of the options. I ordered a falafel wrap and the first thing he did was grab it and put it in the microwave for a minute. I knew from that right there that I shouldn't have expected much. I feel that any restaurant that puts any of their food straight into the microwave shouldn't be any more than a 3 star restaurant. Well, go figure, the falafel was mushy and not tasty at all. The employees were very nice and there was a lot of options, but sadly I wont return.

I love Mediterranean food, so I ordered the mixed grill plus a falafel appetizer to take home. The falafel had a delightfully crunchy texture all its own, but disappointingly did not come with hummus or any other sauces. The only hummus option available was a full £3.75 extra; thankfully I had some at home already. The mixed grill came with a wonderful selection of olives, red onion and fattoush; I appreciated not being forced to get rice. As for the meat, the lamb mince was delicious, but the chicken and lamb souvlaki had obviously been frozen and microwaved; both had the taste and consistency of cardboard. Grill? What grill? This place is hit and miss. Their salads and falafel are above average, and their freshly made juices including the likes of watermelon, grapefruit, cucumber and many others looked interesting; but the hummus is surprisingly dear given the name of the restaurant, and I would steer clear of their "grill" options. Hummus aside, the prices are what you might expect. In other words, some aspects of Hummy Yummy suggest potential, but it will probably have to up its game if it wants to compete with other Mediterranean offerings in the area.
