Continuing on my Swiss Jame Joyce bender, I decided to visit his grave at this lovely little cemetary, located right next to the Zurich Zoo. The tram ride itself is pretty interesting, winding up and up to the very top of a very tall hill. You're on the tram with about a million kids and their parents, and once they let you off you breathe a sigh of relief and hang a hard left through the cemetary gates, leaving the Zoo crowd behind. It was sunny and absolutely gorgeous the day I visited, and it was relaxing and fun to wend my way through the various isles and rows, taking in all the interesting headstones and just the general beauty of all the plants and trees. At the very far corner they have a sign that points to JJ's grave, and there it is, along with a lovely little statue of the author himself, sitting by his grave as if he too is just a visitor taking a little breather. A worthwhile visit if you happen to be in the area. read more
