Highly recommend renting from Noah at Friday Harbor Boat Rentals! We were staying on Orcas island for the weekend and wanted to get out on the water and do a bit of crabbing. Being a Monday in the off season (early November) and during COVID, pretty much every place we contacted was closed. Noah was super responsive, helped us make a plan for getting from Orcas to San Juan, explained exactly what we'd need to go crabbing and where to get it nearby his boat, and just gave us a lot of confidence taking the stress out of planning this outing. When our early morning ferry to SJI was cancelled, he responded quickly and postponed our reservation by a few hours till we could get there, no problems. When we finally got to the boat he was very patient and thorough with the briefing of the boat: where everything was located, and how to operate it. He pulled out a map and showed us all of the good spots in the area, throwing in some local info that really helped us make an unforgettable boating trip! He provided some crab traps we could use, told us where the best spot to drop them was, and helped us figure out a general idea of our plan for the day. We saw a ton of sea life out there, stopped at Roche Harbor, navigated through tons of smaller islands, and caught 8 crabs! 2 mamas had to go back...but will make for great dinner for weeks to come! This was the absolute highlight of our weekend getaway, and an unforgettable experience. We will absolutely be back to Friday Harbor Boat Rentals and highly recommend to everyone we know!

My family and I visited from the East Coast (Boston) and found Noah and team through a google search for boat rentals. Noah and team were attentive and helpful in the reservation process, speaking multiple times before our date of rental. We rented a boat and Noah took the time to explain the local geography and boat equipment with great detail so I felt confident and knowledgeable about the local sights. We saw three orcas within 10 minutes of our boat journey! Better than a whale watch! We also saw three bald eagles, many sea lions, and an island of roaming exotic game! My boys (age 6 and 7) loved seeing the Jurassic Park island and hoping to see Big Foot! My husband and I have traveled the world and yet we never saw any place as beautiful until we visited here. Noah was the best guide! Truly a once in a lifetime experience! His boat was clean, sturdy and well-equipped. He was available by phone throughout our trip and met us before and after to assist with the dock. An unforgettable day!! Thank you, Noah!

Noah was so responsive and kind. We loved our crab fishing adventure and can't recommend FHBR enough.

We rented two different boats from Noah on two separate days, one with new friends (and their Giant Schnauzer!).

The San Juans are a unique corner of America that few, even locals, get to see. While you can take a ferry to a few of the major islands, most of them are accessible only by private boat. Sailing through the San Juans feels like something out of a by-gone era - remote islands, lovely old resorts, quaint towns, and (thanks to Skipper Brendan's local knowledge) hidden bays and lots sunsets all to yourself! It's an amazing way to see these islands. Brendan is not only a fantastic skipper, but a really wonderful person who makes sure everyone aboard is comfortable, happy and having a great time. He grew up in Washington and knows so many fun facts about the islands, local spots and was obviously stoked to be able to share a place he loves with us. The boat is lovely. The staterooms are very comfortable and each has its own head (bathroom!) so there is a surprising amount of personal space. Chef Jess cooked up amazing food all week long. There is also lots of deck space so you can spread out and take advantage of the sun, nap on deck, or just sit and watch the scenery with a glass of wine! I really can't say enough good things about the whole experience. Thanks for making this trip all-time! We will be recommending it to friends and family, Cheers!

Brendan our Captain was incredibly knowledgeable about the islands and kept us informed each day as to what our options were. Bri our Chef and the person that really ran the boat turned out the most delicious and unique meals every day in addition to attending to her other duties. Brendan and Bri are truly the nicest and most accommodating people I have ever met! I highly recommend this charter to everyone!

The captain even let kiddo steer the ship for a while. Booking can be difficult if you're not standing in the office. Online booking isn't an option. When you click the link it merely has the customer fill out an information card and they're supposed to call you. If you cal the number listed you'll always be routed to an answering service. Basically customers just have to leave a message and hope someone calls you back. Even through all that, the experience was totally worth it.

Right from the humorous introduction to sailing and water protocols to the camaraderie and warmth of the crew. First hand Chris is a very interesting person and knows how to make visitors feel involved in the sailing by drawing volunteers for stowing ropes and hoisting the mast. He is helped very ably by his crew Rosy! Captain Gunner keeps a leisurely pace allowing even the most hesitant of sea-farers to relax and take in the sights. Sunset over Pugetsound onboard Spike Africa will be one of my most-cherished moments from the San Juan Islands trip. The schooner allows for your own beverages on board and the open sea makes for an excellent place to have a sip of wine. The sail is pleasant with the added element of other like-minded strangers joining you on a ride, added to that, the very reasonable price makes for an offer hard to refuse! An evening well spent..

WOW! What an unbelievable experience, with an amazing crew!…read more I rented a private charter, more on this later. My girlfriend (American) and I (Canadian) had never been on a sailboat so we were a little unsure what to expect. I did the majority of planning with Jess, she was extremely helpful and very response. I could instantly tell she wanted the experience to be a memorable journey, not just another sail on the water. Tip - they also work with a caterer, which I highly recommend as well. In early August we set out on sunset sail to Boundary Pass (water border of Canada, EH and the United States). It took about 2 hours to get to BP and on the way we saw a pod of orcas. Breathtaking. We reached the water border, it was time. I couldn't think of a better place to ask my beautiful and talented girlfriend to marry me. My hands were shaking, but I didn't drop the ring... and then she said YES! It was quiet, the sun was reflecting off the water, the moment was perfect. Jess captured the moment and sent us several amazing photos. The trip was perfect. Now, you know why I wanted the boat to be private.
