One or two things will happen when you're walking towards Frida & Mina: 1) you'll tilt your head a little higher to pull in the scent of freshly made waffle cones and two you'll know you've found a local gem based on the sight of the line forming around the corner. Frida & Mina makes the best ice cream in São Paulo, and it's no surprise either. Just look at the medley of artisanal and homemade flavors like balsamic strawberry, dulce de leche, and then some. It's fancy ice cream with a child-like feel. It's petite, so you'll order your cone or cup and enjoy it outside under the tree; a fine way to spend a sunny afternoon. read more

Since arriving in São Paulo on Sunday I've been having postprandial ice cream and gelato cravings that are pretty non-negotiable. So after lunch today we headed to Frida & Mina to satiate my frozen treat desires. I had the morango balsâmico (strawberry balsamic) on one of their homemade cones and it was so satisfying. I can't say enough good things about this combo! Expect unique flavors at Frida & Mina like beer and chocolate; crocante de macadamia (crunchy macadamia), cachaça miel limao (cachaça, honey, lemon) and old standbys like vanilla and dulce de leche. If you bring a group of friends and buy five ice creams, you'll get the sixth one free and you don't need a special punch card to make this deal happen. From what I can tell, it's automatic. Look for the yellow facade and follow the smell of fresh waffle cones inside to grab your own at this artisanal ice cream shop in Pinheiros. read more

The smell of freshly made waffle cones that surrounds this shop is deliciously intoxicating. If you like interesting flavor combos, rich cream ice cream and thin, sweet, crunchy cones, this is THE place. My favorites thus far are: cerveja com chocolate, pimenta rosa com frutas, and caramel com fleur de sel. The decor in the little room upstairs is charming and inviting, and the free self serve water completes the experience. If only they made crepes for the winter I would be here year round. read more

Hidden(not so much due to the queue) gem in Vila. But note that this is not your usual flavor ice cream. So, is it bad? quite the contrary, they have step up the game by offering fresh to order cones with out of-the-box ice cream combinations such as crunchy macadamia nuts, salty milk caramel, cachaça and balsamic strawberry. See what i just told you? All their flavours are really good and provoke you to try something new, unusual. i felt in love with this place and anything below 5 wouldn't make justice. There is only 1 bad side: They are closed on sundays, what a shame. read more

Since my father is an ice cream addicted we love to spend some afternoons visiting great ice cream shops! Frida & Mina was a pleasant surprise! Their flavors aren't as sweet as you can find in some other famous (and large) ice cream chains... The ones with less developed tastes might feel like they are having a flavorless dessert, which is not true! This only shows how delicate and natural their flavors are... Can't recommend more! A must go place to everyone who are addicted to high quality ice cream and see value on fresh products! If I could suggest you a flavor it would be Chocolate. This ordinary flavor has nothing to do with ordinary chocolate ice cream! Try it and you'll understand what I'm taking about. read more

It is really, really nice. If you are near Vila Madalena, stop there, you won't waste your time. It is a very pleasant and nice place. The ice cream cone is made to order and the tastes are very unique. read more

Not only does Bacio di Latte serve some of the best gelato I've had outside of Italy, you're quite spoiled for choice in terms of flavors here and even in the smallest cup you can get multiple flavors (which I love)! On my last visit I had yogurt com amarena (sour black cherry), maracujá (passionfruit), and lampone con gianduja (raspberry with chocolate hazelnut). If bliss could be served in a cup, this was surely it!

I almost walked past the entrance from the street. They have a few different areas one could find a seat - every place had a covered ceiling so when it rains most every spot can be filled up. Lots of plants. I sat in the tiny room with the A/C with windows that faced the street - right behind the coffee bar. It kind of felt like I was inside a treehouse - it was nice to be there when it was raining outside. It was really peaceful I wish I had brought a book or my journal with me that day. When you walk inside through the glass doors, turn to your right and walk towards the coffee bar that looks like you're in a kitchen workspace. This is normal as this is where you will place your order. After you order, you can find your seat and it will be brought out to you. The entire space gives a semi-modernized artsy atmosphere. There is a larger space with sofa, accent chairs and tables near a bookshelf filled with different bags of coffee you could purchase as well as various coffee tools and accessories. They have more indoor/outdoor seating down the corridor you walk down when you first turn in from the street as well. Since I love espressos, I had to try the espresso tasting where they give you one small cup and one larger cup of espresso - both brewed the same way, just presented differently. Stir the smaller cup fast with the spoon and slower with the bigger cup. When you taste them, you will notice a difference as one will be more bitter and the other will have that fuller taste. I preferred the smaller cup as it had more of that dark espresso flavor. The staff are super friendly. There was someone there who helped me decide what to order and explained to me how to drink it when he had brought it out. It was also helpful that he knew a little bit of English. I wish I had came here more than just one time and I regret not buying a couple bags of coffee as the packaging is what drew me to the merch, but I was already overflowing with items in my suitcase.
