Everything we ordered was great. You must have Sunday dinner with the Friar! The menu alternates between beef and lamb roast served with roasted & mashed potatoes, veg, and the best Yorkshire pudding this side of The Pond. You will want dessert! The bread pudding with custard is amazing - not too sweet, plenty of spice, and perfect custard. Even though Beckie's portions are substantial, everything is so good that you'll be asking, "May I have some more, please, m'am?" Pick a day, any day, and drop in for an unforgettable meal. Found this little nook of England on vacation and couldn't have been happier with the outcome! Make sure to visit the Queen in the WC! She has some inspiration words for your adventure. The food was hearty and filling considering this was our first visit to a restaurant of this flare. Service was perfect, slow, steady, and delightful just like the sign said behind the counter. ALERT! HIDDEN GEM. Walking through the front door you feel like you've been transported to a local favorite eatery in England. You'll find an assortment of English grocery staples such as marmite, HP Sauce & chocolate delicacies that you won't find in any regular US supermarket! It isn't a huge restaurant; maybe 5 tables max, and a small bar with stools. Don't let that stop you from eating here though, the food is outrageously good. Speaking of which, my husband and I weren't starving when we got here so we decided to order the cottage pie to split. There is a sign near the front register that says they aren't a fast food place, so expect to wait since everything is made fresh to order. I don't mind waiting for fresh nomz but we only had to wait around 15 minutes! Score! This cottage pie (more known as shepherds pie in the US) was delivered to our table STEAMING HOT and the smell.... Oh man I didn't care if I burnt my tongue I had to dig in! The first layer is this fluffy but crisp on the edges mashed potatoes followed by an incredible mixture of beef and veggies with the tastiest of seasoning. We devoured it as quick as our burnt mouths would let us. Even though my husband and I split it, we both left full and happy. It's not very often you leave beaming from how happy and full you are. Went for lunch and was surprised to see only one other table filled. Server attended to us quickly but once we placed the order it took a long time before the food appeared. Seeing that there were so few people there, I was surprised about the wait time. We were so disappointed when the food arrived. We both had the Robin Hood sandwich. The chicken was not fresh at all. There were very hard, chewy pieces, which led me to believe it wasn't fresh at all. Sandwich was skimpy and bland and tasteless, as was the potato salad. I felt like this was at least day old chicken, if not older. We've had this sandwich before and thoroughly enjoyed it. Not this time. It was so bad that we wouldn't return again. We waited to be asked about the meal but server never did, although there might have been a shift change because our original server never appeared after our order and someone else brought the check. Their website says they refuse to compromise on quality in their restaurant. That was not the case today! read more

We came here for brunch while I was in town for work and it was kind of disappointing. The Yelp pictures looked so good, but when we got there the menu was so thin. I thought about getting tea and crumpets since I don't eat red meat (which was an item in every dish), but they were out and weren't planning in getting more anytime soon. I ended up getting a breakfast sandwich with egg, tomato and cheese. It was pretty bland and the tomato was supposed to be grilled but it wasn't quite right. It seemed as if it was just heated up. Boyfriend liked his corned beef breakfast dish a lot, but we had to go to the outside tables before we got our food because my eyes starting reacting poorly to the cooking oil in the air. I guess I'm allergic to whatever they use and since the space is so small is bothered me pretty quickly. This place is super small. I think it may be good at other times, but I would avoid Sunday brunch. read more

We went for Sunday Roast on a day roast beef was being served. The huge plate of food was both delicious and a great bargain at $14.99!! There was plenty of this sliced medium rare roast beef, both mashed and roasted potatoes, stuffing, and Yorkshire pudding! The meal comes with veggies but we aren't fans so we had them keep the veggies off. Everything was delicious. Service was great in a casual atmosphere. Evidently the Sunday roast alternates week to week between beef and lamb. We will be back! read more

They have all the English Staples but a lot of the food tasted either Frozen or was not made fresh. A lot of the items for sale in the mini Brit store were past their sell by date. Driving from Sarasota back to Orlando is a food wasteland. No matter what you do you have to drive off I-4 to find something decent ( or wait until Orlando). When we saw Friar Tuck in Yelp, it sounded like our kind place and we were not disappointed. The owners were a highlight. Funny, engaging and good at making you feel at home. The food was great. We tried so many things: scotch eggs, pies, pasties, sausage rolls. We finished with the bread pudding. All was superb. Many reviews will tell you that. For me, there was the added benefit of British goods for sale. I've been looking for a licorice I used to have as a kid and found a brand there. It was toffee licorice. Unfortunately I ate the whole bag and didn't write down the name. My entire party love Friar Tuck. You will too. read more

Let me start by saying I used to like this place. Portions are plentiful and it is authentic PROPER English food. Ok, now the problem. Being St. Patricks Day 2023 I phoned for reservations a few days in advance. Once checking in it took ..... abut 12 minutes to be seated. We sat for and i timed it 23 minutes before i got up to ask the bar tender if we could get some drinks. I was told he would have tossed a waitress. Another 8 minutes pass and the server asked if we ready to order. We put in our drink and dinner order on at the same time. 8 minutes more goes by and we get our drinks. About 50 more minutes goes by and we are getting up to level when the server comes and asks us what we ordered. We were then told they were out of the food we wanted. So, she recommended a substitute. After all this time has passed we said "NO THANK YOU !" She turned to walk away and then turned back and said we will not charge you for your 2 sodas and a beer. I thanked her and mumbled under my breath "I had no intention on paying for them anyway". Meanwhile, my Feince' was facing into the kitchen and saw the staff just leisurely hanging out. No care in the world. Our thought is this server NEVER put our order in. She said it took so long for the initial contact because shaded not see us. Really, the place was nowhere near capacity. It was a normal Friday night in any other sit down restaurant. I told the woman greeter and all she said is "THAT IS TERRIBLE" !!! No, let me make this up to you are do you want to speak to the owner. NO NOTHING !!!! Scary for them because although I live an hour away ..... I'm still a local. That being said It was 2 hours on the road just to go to their establishment. We were ignored and forgotten. The server never even came back to refresh our drinks. This spot is one of my favorites in Clermont! Every time I try something new from the menu I'm not disappointed. They have sweets as well, and drinks imported from England. Their decor is themed appropriately and adorable. And the lady who works here is THE sweetest!! I'm very happy that their location is expanding because they totally deserve the bigger space! I am so disappointed with this place! First let me say the food is fine, its not nearly as good as it used to be but it's fine if a bit expensive. The service is so disappointing! I ordered through yelp and apparently grub hub which was another fee but I really wanted some fish and chips so I splurged. I got a notification that my order was accepted and it gave me a time to come and pick it up. When I arrived I decided to shop in their British specialty shop and spent another $12 at which time I explained that I had a to go order. The person ringing me up said that I would have to pay for my order up front. I explained I already paid on yelp at which time she said "yea I think yours was the last one that we accepted because we have too much going on for that" I was a bit taken aback but I asked her where I should check for my order and she said up near the bar. It was crazy busy and I understand that but then I got another notification that the restaurant accepted my order. A gentleman came out of the kitchen near the bar and I asked about my order. He inquired how I ordered and what my name was and then went in the back. He came out to tell me there was no way I could have ordered through Yelp because they "turned that off" and he saw nothing in the back for me. I showed him on my phone that I had paid for the food and he told me that grubhub had my money not them. He told me that they were too busy to make me any food and that if they did they would have to charge me for it again! So no food and no refund... I was so angry but I said nothing, he told me he was "really sorry, but I would have to contact grub hub" and I silently walked out the door starving and angry! Grub hub was very kind and even sent me a $5 coupon for the trouble but it wasn't there fault. I can not imagine turning someone away from your restaurant in that manner! I have been eating here for years, I've ordered this way before so how was I to know that they "turned that off" and it's going to take 3-4 business days to get my money back too! They are busy right now because it's snow bird season, I hope they don't loose all their regular customers because in a month they will only have the locals and I can tell you this local, will never give them another chance. read more

We had Walt as a server and he was beyond kind, helpful, and right on the money with his recommendations. We had the Robin hood sandwich and the fish & chips. But the star of the meal was dessert: the Biscoff bomb. We love dessert and we have never ever had anything as amazing as this. This is a very charming place. Not what you expect to find in a strip mall. The menus also was a nice surprise, they offer way Bristol food than the normal fish and chips. When the food was served we were suppress how much care and professional the plates and meals looked. This is not like the other places around this neighborhood where they just slap food on a plate from a grill; I would call it fine dinning at incredible prices.
