It's an antique setting and it's a very beautiful piece. However, a number of years ago the setting broke, causing it to dig into my finger and it had to be cut off my hand. As a result of that and the age of the setting, the ring essentially split in half. In the process, I managed to lose two of the small diamonds on the side of a larger stone as well. So here I had this beautiful family heirloom, and it was a total mess. It had been sitting in my jewelry box for years. I wanted to give it to my daughter, but definitely not in two pieces with missing stones. But where do you take something like this? And how do you trust someone with something so special? Add to this, I am new to Woodland. So on a whim, I figured I would ask some of my neighbors in our neighborhood Facebook group. I received a lot of recommendations. I also have a lot of trust in yelp. Eventually, I decided I would just go to DJs and see how it felt. The woman there was fantastic. I could tell immediately that she recognized the type of piece this was and I instantly felt like I could trust her. She told me that it was a family business and I sensed from everyone that they really care about what they do. She was able to get me an estimate right away, and I decided I would leave my ring with them. They were a couple of options: I could get it done quickly for a surcharge or wait until their next repair date, which was about two weeks away. I was in no rush. They actually finished the ring a day early! And it's beautiful. It's perfect. And I really feel like it was a reasonable price for the repair. My understanding is they do custom work as well and I have a few ideas. I would love to run by them in the future. In this world of chain stores and online stores, it's nice to find a truly family owned business, particularly when you are dealing with something precious. They really care! Highest recommendation!

I took my Gibson Les Paul in for a new bone nut replacement. Messaged him the next day requesting…read moreto go with his suggestion of going with TUSQ XL. He said no problem and we agreed on it. Two weeks later when expected to picked up he says he doesnt have the nut and still needs to order it. Sure, I wait another week. Picked up my guitar to see very poor workmanship. The nut slot heights are not only not cut to my specifications that I requested. G string was cut too way too low compared to rest. But also the new nut has gaps all over the place and does not sit full bearing within the slot. It's a combination of maybe not cleaning out any existing glue or not filing the seat level. He said I was giving him anxiety by my expectations of good workmanship. In response I said im going to call this work order a loss, im swallowing the loss of ~$170 and i'll take my business elsewhere. It is not right if he is accepting this nut as the best he has to offer as workmanship and not fixing what is to be expected. Photos attached.
