Their web presence is no better than their delivery service. I just wasted 10 minutes of my life that I'll never get back trying to load their web page. The main page came up fine, but the links to the stories were either broken or took so long to load that I finally gave up. I tried on Explorer, Chrome, and Firefox. Explorer got me a little farther than the other two, but the pages still stopped loading after the headline appeared. I'm on a T1 line, and everything else on the web is lightening fast, so it's not my computer or connection. And this is a fairly regular problem for me. Heck, most of the time I feel like I could walk to their offices on E Street and pick up a paper off the presses faster than I could load their web page. read more

We paid $$$ to have an obituary printed for ONE day and the print quality is so bad half of the obituary is unreadable. I have tried to reach someone at the paper but messages have not been returned. Disgraceful. read more

It has been 5 years since I last rated The Bee. Still no way to give it a minusbStar and from other reviews I am not alone. They just charged my credit card for $57 , within my permission. I called immediately and they told me they have a "no refund" policy. Any wonder why they are going belly up. Two/three day old news. I have seen school newsletters better than The Bee. Looks like others have had the same experience. Run them out of town. read more

Since going pretty much all digital, I think the newspaper is much better than it was before. But!!! I just received an email telling me the annual subscription price for the E edition was going to more than double. I am currently paying $2.50 per month and the new rate is 5.08 per month That is a pretty insane increase! I will probably end up paying it, because I can. But many many many people will drop the service. Kind of dumb! read more

They don't deserve any stars. Beware they are charging their full price without authorization and then telling you they told you about terms and condition. Unethical without authorization charging on accounts and saying it's ok. You can't even get a magazine subscription for that amount. They ripped off my mother charged her CC for $42.00 a month without telling her. They charged her $109 plus $42.00 for 4 months. Tried to cancel they wouldn't give her a refund for the weeks that are left. Got hung up on 3 times finally talked to supervisor with no luck no refund Smsh read more

Where is the -10? Back in the day I used to enjoy reading this paper, for the most part they kept their comments open and they gave pretty decent reviews and new stories which at the time seem to be fair and balanced. Now this place is really bad, their political opinions are so bad that I know of at least 10 different friends that have dropped from their subscriptions both online and from the actual physical paper. The political viewpoints are way out there and they always seem to lean to the liberal left without taking everything into consideration and being fair and impartial. For example some of the new stories that have been printed in the last year or so incorrect, all you have to do is ask research on your own and you'll be able to find the truth versus what's printed and unfortunately some people believe everything coming out of this place. Do not buy. read more

Show the entire digital newspaper. I am not in favor of scrolling thru each article. And lower the price for subscribers.

I am so angry and disappointed in The Fresno Bee newspaper. I canceled my subscription twice!! The first time was around 6 months ago. Then I received a late notice that I hadn't paid my subscription. So I called again to remind them that I had canceled my subscription months ago. This time I asked for a email or letter to confirm. The agent apologized and said he would send it right away. I never received confirmation. Now it is January and they are threatening to send me to collections for 195.00. I called again. They insisted I did not cancel my subscription! They offered to let me pay half of the 195.00 they said I owed! I refused. It is not my debt. He then agreed to delete the charges. And apologized. I asked for confirmation. He said he would email me. I didn't receive a thing. Today I received a letter stating they canceled my subscription for non-payment! They also asked if iwould like to renew with a discounted price! My next email will be to the BBB. I am so disappointed in The Fresno Bee. I was a subscriber for so many years. I was lied to at each and every phone call. I used to think of The Fresno Bee as a stellar company. Needless to say, my opinion has drastically changed. read more

I accepted what I thought was a free Sunday paper as a test run with no commitment. Turns out after less than two weeks I had somehow subscribed and accumulated a bill of approximately ten dollars. Luckily, I caught this right away and got it taken care of. Be careful, this company's policies are borderline fraudulent and if you want to speak with customer service be prepared to talk to call centers overseas. STAY AWAY - DO NOT accept any specials or trial offers unless you like questionable bills and communicating with people speaking broken English. Tradition and bias gets you nowhere in today's internet age. read more

This medium has gone so far downhill. Extremely poor grammar/editing, all the news is a day or two late, bad information: you state for months that Giants games are on certain local radio broadcasts when they aren't, today you stated the baseball League Champion Series were a five game series, they are a seven game series....are your employees professionals or junior high scribes? Wish I didn't have to give you a star read more

I hate subscribing to anything...because it always seems like there's a catch that leaves you stuck paying more than you expected. When my husband signed us up for a year of weekend papers, I was concerned, but because he paid up-front for the year, he was hopeful that we would circumvent any possible way that the Fresno Bee would milk more money out of us than we intended. Of course...a year and a short time later, they had us, luckily to the tune of approximately $12.00. Big deal right? It turns out that even if you pay in advance for the year, "industry standard" allows them to keep delivering after that date and then they get to charge you for the extra time. We allegedly received reminder notices and bills before the end of our year (which of course we never calendared), and these notices allegedly informed us that we had to actually call to cancel the service. I guess a one year-paid-in-advance subscription means you just pay for the year in advance but have a subscription that continues into perpetuity until you take action to sever it. I don't recall ever seeing one of these notices that we allegedly received, so was shocked when on Saturday morning, we were awaken to the call of a collection lady. Really? At her direction, we tried to call the Fresno Bee to cancel the service effective immediately and explain that we had no intention of renewing. But the service was closed. We called on Sunday and were able to reach customer service who explained their policy and said that she'd work with billing (or circulation?) to try to have the balance waived due to the misunderstanding. Today, we received another call from the Fresno Bee explaining that we had ample notice to cancel, and that we were served with the invoice (which I received by mail today) --so we needed to pay . I mentioned that I spoke to someone on Sunday about the misunderstanding and she said she'd make an effort on our behalf, the representative cut me off saying there had been NO misunderstanding--that this was industry standard, and that since the money would be taken out of the delivery driver's check if we didn't pay, no offset would be given. The conversation degraded from that point. We will pay the money--because I don't want someone who works hard and gets paid crap to take the hit. I know how the delivery service works, and the only ones making any money here are the ones who print the paper (although, with the internet, even they must be hurting). What sucks here is Fresno Bee's customer service said on one day they'd help us out, and on the next day, acted as if we were idiots for even thinking the Bee would do such a thing. I don't care how convenient or cost-efficient it is to have a paper subscription from the Bee. It isn't worth the headache. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice--not going to happen. read more

Can we review a newspaper? Well, why not....I love newspapers, read two a day, one of which is the Fresno Bee. I have read the Fresno Bee my whole life ( I could read at a very young age and I can almost bet my mother read the BEE to me aloud before I could read it myself) and wouldn't think of not getting home delivery. I even get all my back issues delivered to me when I'm away on vacation so I can catch up on local news and obits. Yep, those are the main reasons I subscribe to the Fresno Bee. I'm just like the old people who check to see who died. Unfortunately, at my age, I'm recognizing more and more names. Getting back to reading the newspaper, I am well aware I can get my news online, but it is not the same thing as sitting at the dining room table, eating my breakfast, drinking my soy mocha, and reading the paper(s) before heading off to school. Many days I pull my lessons right out of the paper. (hey, I teach marketing, the whole world is my textbook). Unfortunately, the BEE does not offer the variety of articles that I find in the SF Chronicle. Nor do I like the media reviewers in the BEE. As for the BEE's printing plant and all, they are very nice people and they provide school tours of which we have taken advantage many times. The BEE does a lot for the community, and I would like to see more people support it. So I can keep reading my paper each morning. read more

The Fresno Bee kept sending papers and bills after I cancelled. I finally disputed the automatic payment with my credit card. Then the Fresno Bee sent it to collections for $24.95! It is difficult to get a hold of anyone at the Fresno Bee because of the limited hours. When I did get a hold of someone in January, the woman I spoke with said she would clear my account "this one time." I had cancelled my subscription by phone, then by email in September and again in October before disputing the payment. I just received another Collections Statement today, and coincidentally received an offer to subscribe again! No one can be reached because the office closes early every day. I cannot recommend having a subscription to the Fresno Bee. read more

The subscription rate is more than HBOMAX and definitely not worth it. Customer Service is horrible too. Shady non-transparent practices. Would never recommend. read more

Please do not ever take advantage of their special offers. I ordered a subscription offered in late June for $42.99 to go through the end of December. I received the paper for about 5 weeks....then boom-- no paper. Calling customer service was a nightmare. Their machine was broken.I finally got a representative who said that there was no record despite the fact that I had "a total amount charged" e-mail. When I finally got through they said that the offer expired!!!! The new cheapest amount would be $38.60 every three months if I automatically renewed. They said it would be the same price upon renewal....we'll see. Such a scam. read more

Well I've been a Fresno Bee subscriber for over 50 years, was a Bee carrier for3.5 years. Whats with all the haters here? The Fresno bee is a great Fresno tradition. They report the news fairly as fair as possible as a left leaning news organization can. Although most believe print is a dying medium I will stand up for them and commend them for fighting through the internet age and running a decent fair website. read more

The Fresno Bee should be ashamed of themselves! Regarding obituaries, their charges are outlandish, who do they think they are - their "real estate" in a printed piece is NOT worthy of their charges. FURTHER, their layout sucks and they do not give the customer the option to correct the horrid layout. The type style is atrocious and causes for terrible and inappropriate breaks at the end of the line. The customer does not have any ability to change the position of the photo in the obituary to make the piece flow better and more readable. And for the PRICE - shame. Further, their cost of advertising, both in display and in classified is outlandish. Major newspapers in much larger cities charge substantially less. Who does McClatchy think they are? The classifieds - ha - one can advertise in the SF papers for MUCH less and receive many more phone calls, higher prices on materials sold through classified and many more SALES. Right here in Fresno - advertising TO San Francisco and other nearby large cities. No wonder the Bee is hardly large enough to cover the floor of a large bird cage anymore. Fresno Bee, you got what you asked for. No wonder your own community has turned their backs on you. Shame. read more

This review is for the paper online not home delivery or what not. * Typical newspaper format for McClatchy Company * I hate that they don't post my comments on the forums * The videos they post online are usually poor quality * I always know what's going on in & around Fresno+ * I hate their GIANT ads covering the entire screen * They could post more than just the front page in pdf format * Poll position could be updated frequently to another topic read more

The paper itself is so-so, but I think local papers are good for local communities. The problem I had was with their sales department. OMG! (and I normally never use chat-speak). It started with a small wide-eyed boy knocking at my door and offering a subscription to help him save money for college. I, of course, instantly subscribed. After a period I realized didn't really use the paper and canceled. I am more of an online person. This is when the Fresno Bee fangs came out. I was relentlessly harassed by their telemarketing for the next 3 years. NOTHING I did would make them stop. I didn't matter that I asked to speak to supervisors, informed them they were calling my cell phone and costing me money, or threatened them with lawsuits. They would call multiple times every week. It would let up for a month or two and then start all over again. They even had children calling me. Who does this?!? A week ago I had another small wide-eyed boy showed up on my doorstep with a complimentary copy of the Fresno Bee. The poor thing was so surprised when I panicked and shut the door on him. So beware of Fresno Bee children, for they are the harbingers of certain torment. read more

This is about the online Bee- up until yesterday I could check the Fresno Bee online and see all the updated news stories. Now apparently I have to have an account and sign in to see anything. I'm not about to register and provide an email address so they can solicit me to buy the paper. Anyway, I really enjoyed being able to quickly click over and see the news stories throughout the day, but I guess now I'll venture over to one of the news sites where I don't have to sign in. See you, Fresno Bee. read more

If I could rate this a zero star I would!! I recently subscribed to the Bee and have had the worst service I have ever gotten.. The first day I was to receive the paper I didn't get it!! A woman came out, walked up to my porch throwing the paper just missing my cat and when I said something to her she was very rude!! My complaint isn't with the content of the paper, its the delivery of the paper or should I say the lack of. It is a constant problem and usually on weekends. I was a paper boy as a child so I know what it is like. Its easy to occasionally miss a customer. But when they make it so difficult for a you to call and report that you didn't get a paper it just infuriates me. They have never missed sending me a bill, NEVER!! But want to call and report that you didn't get a paper....forget it. Leave a message? Send an email? They wont answer any of them. If you are lucky enough to get through their maze of button pushing and get a live person you are still screwed. You may get your paper, but they don't correct the problem. Next weekend it will be the same thing. Well, I know the problem will never be resolved until I just cancel the subscription but I feel better venting about it. bestda read more

The fresno bee sucks we stop delivery in Jan of 2018. They kept delivering the paper, then they sent us a bill for Jan through Mar. I subscribed to and read the Fresno Bee for many, many years (decades), even though the Bee's politics are often different than my own. But I stopped, primarily as a result of the fact that I can get all the news I want online much faster and earlier than from the Bee. But... the real reason for this review is that I am really angry at the Bee for their recent action is littering my home and my neighborhood with this new throw-away ad paper. It is on the driveways, the lawns, and the streets, all over the place. It should be against the law to litter the city with trash, as the Bee is doing! read more

No shame in these people. They will harass you at 8:30 at night to try and peddle their rag. I did subscribe to them once and ended up cancelling part of my order due to unreliable delivery. The Fresno Bee has lied repeatedly to me about receiving a certain number of issues for a paid subscription. TWICE this year, I paid for a specific number of weeks and twice Fresno Bee has billed me for a new subscription that starts much earlier before my expiring subscription ends. And when I call the Fresno Bee Customer Service about how I am cheated out of my paid issues, I am told there is nothing that can be done. I even ask for the supervisor and am told there is nothing the supervisor can do either. I have also mailed a letter to explain in detail how I was cheated out of paid issues that weren't delivered and received absolutely no response. Obviously, the Fresno Bee: 1) relies on subscribers to not verify they have received all newspaper issues they paid for; 2) continues to overcharge subscribers for previously paid issues; 3) cheats subscribers out of paid issues; and 4) misrepresents the promotions they advertise. Perhaps, a class action lawsuit is needed considering many others have likely fallen prey to their practices! read more

04/23/2018 I talked to customer service a few minutes ago, it sounded like an offshore customer service. She said I had a balance due from Jan. 20, 2018 to April 20, 2018. I never authorized any extension of my subscription on January 20, 2018. In addition the unauthorized extension is a much higher fee than the regular subscription available on Fresno Bee subscription website. I can't access, or view any of my account/billing/payment information on your Fresno Bee website using my address and account number. I asked for a name of who is responsible for this problem, so I can report The Fresno Bee to the Fresno County District Attorney office, for unauthorized billing. read more

The Fresno Bee should be ashamed of themselves and how they treat their customer. I didn't want the paper anymore but continued to get subscriptions because Fresno Bee kept calling me to renew, however they lied to me about pricing and then sent me to collections without ever sending me notice that I had a pending amount. I had a credit card verification that I had paid the bill and called Fresno Bee to have a manager give me a call to clear up the issue. Needless to say a manager never called me back even after I followed up with them. Sadly, it won't be long before the Fresno bee closes up shop with their horrible bad service! read more

My complaint is about the YES ads in the pink plastic bags (delivered on Sundays). I have called repeatedly and asked for them NOT be delivered to my address. I do not want them, do not use them, and do not want to have to pick up unwanted items(aka litter) that are thrown into my yard. I have called at least SIX times in the past 8 weeks - each time, the rep assures me he/she will take care of it, or the carrier has been made aware of it, or they'll talk to the supervisor, but the papers keep coming. This packet was delivered again today. I canceled home delivery of the paper years ago - delivery problems, price kept going up, paper kept getting smaller. It simply wasn't worth it. But that didn't stop them from calling over and over trying to get me to subscribe. It's time for this business to go! read more
