Would give it 0 stars if I could!!! Drove from Campbell to east San Jose after work, 40 minutes in traffic for ground tilapia to make ceviche. Husband and I arrive at 7:30pm and the main door was closed already, had to go in from the exit. I head to the carnicería for tilapia and to my surprise all seafood is covered, worker behind the counter is standing there smiling at his phone. I ask for 10 tilapias and ask if he would please grind them for me and he gives me a nervous smile and says he can't bc he already cleaned the grinder. I ask what is the cut off if they close at 8pm and he says 7pm. Don't understand if the store closes at 8pm why are they ready to go home at 7:30pm? For the record my husband and I met when we worked at a Hispanic supermarket 13 years ago, I was a cashier and him courtesy clerk and then he worked in the meat department for 2 months. On the days I was scheduled to close i served customers until around 11pm. Made an announcement around 10:55 asking them to please come to the front to check out bc we would be closing in 5 minutes. When my husband worked in the meat department they would help the last customer until 11pm and then start cleaning the machines and floors. So I don't understand fresco ... they r suppose to want to sell and serve customers. But that's not the case. Afterwards I headed over to the panadería for some sweet bread for my kids and they were starting to pack up the bread. A lady working there kept starring at me while we choose our bread. She seemed bothered that we were goin to make her work by packing up our bread to pay in the front. If they have no customer service they should find somewhere else to work. If fresco wants to stop serving customers at 7-7:30 then they should change there store hours to reflect it. Fresco sucks and it smell weird too. read more

This used to be my favorite store, until today. There was a broken pipe and the disgusting water dripped on my daughter's head... I let Norma the assistant manager in front know, and she was looking for another manager. She didn't even apologize or ask where the water was dripping.. She basically walked away to help another customer and I was in a rush to go pick up my other child from school so I paid for my food and left. I went back up to her letting her know I'm pretty disappointed nobody cares or even apologize that that happened. I asked where the main manager was at, and she said she don't know.. The customer service was absolutely horrible and I don't plan on going back here ever. Hopefully, nobody gets hurt with the leakage of the broken pipe dripping all over the floor. read more

Asian & Hispanic go to if your looking for ingredients, hot foods, cold food meats (all kinds) this is the place to go and you can basically find everything & anything you need. Lots of parking so that's not an issue. Security at the door is legit tight cause they be checking your items to make sure it has a sticker on it which means you paid for the items and they won't ask for a receipt. Elma's Taqueria is Yummy! whatever you decide to order, it's all very tasteful. And the plus side is they also cater if you need some good o'l Mexican authentic food. I almost this supermarket 4 stars but their fish frying service is the worst. The workers are so rude to the customers and the wait is extremely long. On Good Friday it was well over two hours. I walked out. Today I'm here and selected 4 tilapias and he said it would take 10 minutes. Half and hour later and I'm still waiting. They do have good selection of seafood, meat and poultry and their prices are reasonable. I do like their homemade chips too. Salsa selection is not bad either. Stopped by to get some Mexican candy. The patio was open & the Elma's Taqueria was open. Prices are deceiving. Seemed a bit high, but I was hungry so I ordered. Meat choices are res (beef) & chivo (goat). I ordered 2 de res at $6 each. I was thinking I was gonna get street tacos. Wow - was I surprised! They are hand made tortillas approx 8 inches and filled with tender beef. They also came with consome which is like a broth for dipping. I could finish the 2nd taco....a light bulb flashes on! IMHO My hubby loves this store to buy produce. Sometimes they have good sales, sometimes not. It's hit or miss. You'll find a large variety of food goods for all cultures, which is why I knew my husband would love this store. You can find fresh seafood and fresh meat here, plus a bakery. We usually pick up Chinese veggies (choy sum or bok choy, nappa cabbage), yellow onions, broccoli crowns, green onions. If the eggs are on sale, they're a great deal. I wish their oxtail was cheaper ($6.99 a lb.) Friendly service generally. I wish the store was a little bit cleaner looking. Matters not, we'll still shop here. read more

When they first opened up I liked grocery shopping here but in the last couple of years I feel like this place is unsanitary to shop for food options. I've taken my business somewhere else. Last time I came here veggies have dirt/oil the area where they are placed is very dirty they don't wipe anything down. Don't get me started in the meat department. Their meat area is disgusting. They don't clean their windows there is blood from the meat splattered all over the counters window, the ground etc. I feel like all the meat is mixed up highly contaminated. The machine where they weight the meat isn't wiped down imagine weighing chicken & than meat etc. on a machine that has meat juice all over it. Plus the employees have their aprons dirty. And when they hand you your meat the bag is wet with I don't know what. "Meat juices" I know it's a meat shop but at least wipe your hands with napkins or towels not on yourself. However, he overhyped the drink up which gave me high expectations - he said it would taste like a milkshake. I only ever come here for the Korean bbq marinated ribs and leave with 10-15lbs. People at home devour this stuff even before all the food is made. The store does also have a great selection of rare items you may not find at other Mexican markets and the prices tend to be better. read more

I came in with my mother @8 opening. While at the meat department my mother was being attended. I waited around because I also wanted to order and others were being attended ahead. This happened around 8:35am. That wasn't the issues but an older man with glasses who spoke in Spanish began yelling at my mother saying we needed to be patient. He then tells her he doesn't care if we are in a hurry that everyone needs to wait and that "customers always want there way." My mother chose not respond to not escalate things. He continued to yell at her and finally walked off saying he would not help me. Although I was there before 5 others that were attended. The guy actually attending my mother tells her to stay calm! My mother and I left pretty upset. We are loyal customers and no longer feel comfortable going. There was no reason to be this rude and I hope he is taught better customer service. Thanks read more

I usually shop here for fresh veggies and fruits. I always check their weekly flyer for the best deals. It has lots of parking and it is within the Eastridge mall loop. This is my goto place for fresh coconut. They also sell fresh coconut and coconut water in a container. Just because its on the Eastside, why do we have to put up with poor management and poor service. This has got to be the worst managed supermarket in San Jose. Management is more concerned getting their work done and going home then taken care of customers. No one in the meat department and a group of customers. Manager's to busy getting her work done to help. Two check stands open with four to five customers in line. There is a Chavez market on Blossom Hill, a Cardenas market on White road and a Mi Rancho supermarket on White road. Do yourself and our community a favor and shop there,e deserve better management for our market that are serving our community. If we demand more, we will get more. I'll write a detailed review when I get home but the persistence by upper management has me convinced that they are solely trying to create a positive customer experience. The 2nd time I was here was 3 weekends ago to get my mom aloe vera. The gentleman stocking the produce stopped me so that he can get me a fresh batch. Now that I am back for myself because managers reached out to me; offered me a full refund from the low rating to a gift certificate. I did not want to take advantage of anyone so I agreed to meet but didn't want anything in return. What did I get? I got a gift certificate and basically a store which has over 20 employees working right now focusing on not just me but every customer in the store. I noticed my surroundings and saw a huge improvement on service. I met Edgar and another guy from the meat department - they both personally apologized to me and actually made me smile. I was in awe w/ how I was treated and I can see myself shopping here every Thursday or Friday because prices are cheap, the food is fresh, and service is great. Thanks for everything :) read more

The supermarket has everything Hispanic which is a great one stop shop. Fresh veggies, to meats to bakery items to packaged goods. But word of advice. Don't try to shop here on a Saturday late morning. The lines are ridiculously long and carts are filled to the brim! The registers are slow due to lots of cash buyers. There is no express lane. Having said that, the flip side is the great fresh food you can get. The hot tortillas right out of the oven are great. I enjoyed a green spicy salsa they previously made however I don't see it being sold there anymore. We ordered their pollo asado to go from the cantina and it's awesome. Our definite go to. Quite expensive at around $15/lb though. I wasn't a fan of the fresh guacamole or pico de gallo, however. Definitely worth a visit however. The restaurant in front of the store is packed on weekends. I haven't tried that yet, but will see if I can visit that next time. read more

"So cheap, so cheap, so cheap ... M.O.M. and Lucky soo espensive" I had no particular reason to visit this market till' I told my mom about it so we decided to grab a cart and stock up. First off, free samples at the door: yogurt drinks, tortilla chips & salsa, ramen noodles. Now that's a good way of greeting customers! We started off at the bakery looking at cakes and fruit tarts since we have a birthday party coming up and had so much to choose from. There were even cake samples that were enough to share between my mom and I. The mocha cake was really good and not overly sweet. You can buy big cakes, smaller cakes and even slices (that were priced at $1.50). I got a fruit tart which was a shortbread crust lined with chocolate, filled with whipped cream and topped with strawberries, kiwis, peaches a blackberry and maraschino cherry. The sides were a bit soggy, but the bottom was hard and crumbly. Not bad for $2.29 for a tart as big as your hand versus Whole Foods Mini Fruit tartlet which is priced at $2 for the portion the size of your palm. Trays of pound cake and banana bread with about 8 slices each for only .99, it's amazingly cheap! They had lots of items in their meat/seafood section you normally wouldn't find at other stores like hearts, black chicken and chicken feet. After making a quick round my mom decided to pay and I decided to grab some Aguas Frescas; Tamarindo and Horchata. For about $1.70 you get a medium sized cup of really good Aguas Frescas and a really big amount, their medium sized looked like a large to me. This market is huge! From fresh produce, hot food court, fresh seafood, meats and bakery this market sets itself apart from Maxim, M.O.M and supermarkets like Lucky. It's literally filled to the brim with Mexican and Asian groceries at really cheap prices. Looks like we're leaving you M.O.M and Lucky for this place! ;-P read more

Grand Opening! Fresco World Market is grand spanking new, so new that everything is shiny, floors look super clean, not crowded, and spells good. Fresco has surprised me dearly. I just didn't expect it to have so much inside. It has almost everything that you need out of a grocery store. I took lots of pictures so you can see the insides. Walking up to the store you'll see on the outside fresh veggie and fruit stands reminiscent of the old outside market days. Also on the outside is "Madera Smokehouse" where they BBQ that you can buy to eat and sit at the chairs and tables provided. Inside, your eyes will be drawn to the bright colors of the walls/sign. On the left as you walk in there are several "ready to eat" food, all different types from burritos and tacos, to Asian cuisine, to freshly baked pizza, and bakery that makes cakes, tortillas, and tortilla chips. Lots of tables to sit at and enjoy your food before or after you shop. This store has everything and I'm impressed with how many employees they have. Well done to keep the whole store properly stocked, cleaned, and to help any customer needing assistance. There are currently some good sales to celebrate the Grand Opening so head over there to get them. read more

It hurts me to give this place a 3 star review because I love going here for the produce. I find the the produce is generally priced lower than neighboring grocery stores and they are usually very fresh. However, in this time of COVID19, I feel they aren't enforcing any social distancing protocols. The employees all wore masks but the checkout lines are cramped and no real markers indicating to stand 6ft away. I do all my tamale shopping here, they have great prices and also a taqueria so if you are having a party you can actually pick up trays of beans and rice. They even have them last minute without reservation although it is probably wise to make one. Usually come out here to buy some pre-marinated meats for impromptu BBQ's. The meat is usually very good quality and cold when we get it. Sometimes at other places the meats don't feel cold when you get them which means it is properly stored at the correct temperature. So if Ranch 99 and Mi Pueblo ever made sweet love and had a baby...it would be FRESCO...it's pretty much a hybrid Asian/Mexican supermarket with products catering to both cultures (the only thing they are missing is a Chinese BBQ stand haha) So Fresco is pretty much rock bottom pricing on EVERYTHING...especially in the produce section. I gotten broccoli crowns for 3lbs for $1, 8 bunches of cilantro for $1, $.49 cauliflower, etc. It seems like whatever they have overstock on, they markdown even further to sell. Even liquor is cheap...Ciroc sells for $19.99 when it's on sale...which is UNHEARD of the cheapest you'll ever see it anywhere is $22.99-$24.99. for your BBQ ppl..The marinated meats (carne asada) are about $1-$1.50 cheaper per lb then places like Mi Pueblo/Chavez Market, but they aren't as good. Quantity over quality I guess? But can't complain. They usually have great deals on chicken/pork/beef/fish which covers all my bodybuilding needs! The food court here is pretty good too. I usually get some tacos before I go shopping so I keep that tradition alive haha. It's right by Eastridge Mall and on a very busy intersection so getting here can be quite an adventure (gotta love how people drive on the Eastside hahaha) but well worth it, you can save a ton of cash by shopping here. Oh how can I forget..Fresco loves to PARTY...usually twice a year, they'll advertise some kind of party with raffles, prizes, and tons of freebies. What a great concept!!! Pretty amazing to see how the former Circuit City has been changed to a super market! I always had a secret fascination (i guess it is not a secret anymore) with supermarkets (American, Mexican, Asian and Indian--all types!), and Fresco World Market has brought it to a new level--a fusion between a Mexican and Asian Supermarket! I can easily be entertained by walking through each aisle and browsing to see what is on the store self. AMAZING!!! This concept is ingenious because if you look at the demographic of where Fresco is located, the store is located in the middle of an Asian community and Mexican community. Alex, the owner, is friendly and talks to his customers. I believe he's the son of Lion Supermarket. Everything in the market is fresh, clean, and new!! The staff is pretty diverse as well. I love how there is a Mexican bakery, juice bar, and an Asian/Mexican food court. I have yet to try their tres leche, but one of these days I will have to give it a try. Their Mexican pastries are pretty decent. I have never been a big fan of Mexican pastries, but there were a few items in the plastic containers that were pretty good (too bad I don't recall the names to them). The churros were pretty good, if only they can warm it up for you on the spot, then that would be awesome! A one-stop store to purchase ingredients to make a burrito/taco and bun rieu! They have produce, The prices are reasonable, especially when it first opened. It is still comparable to neighboring supermarkets. My only recommendation for this market is to have more bulk items, like Berkeley Bowl or Whole food. They do have bulk items, but the selection is not as extensive as it can be. read more

This review is for the food court only... Carnitas tacos were moist and flavorful. Fresh veg, fresh lime and oh so fresh jalapeño woo. Horchata was refreshing but too much cinnamon and I think some nutmeg, my friend got a strawberry aguas it was pretty good too. Will have to try some other items next time. read more
