Definitely much more vibrant, clean, lively, and energetic now. People biking, walking, reading, napping, hammocking, and just hanging out. Great spot to meet with friends, plenty of sunny and shaded spots, with clean bathrooms up on the northeast side near Euclid St. If you have an opportunity to visit, visit!

This place is huge...vast and forest-like, with roads and trails meandering throughout. I was happy for GPS, or I would most definitely have gotten lost! I didn't have a lot of time, but I did take a few minutes to stop at the vegetable garden, where many seasonal items were growing. They even invite you to pick something (but just one!) if you'd like to try it. And the flowers....oh the flowers. So beautiful! I'd love to come back here someday with a bike and visit more spots.

We had great animal encounters with squirrels, ducks, snakes, and deer! Its the perfect place to retreat from the city and go on a walk with nature, even on a hot day. President Roosevelt was clearly a beloved figure, and after learning more about him, I can understand why. The display was meaningful, but it still felt like it couldn't fully capture his impact. The outdoor exhibit added an entirely different experience of its own. It was unique, peaceful, and offered a completely different way to appreciate the history and legacy being honored.

Not that the park is poorly maintained - it's not. It is, however, impossible not to notice that it is both situated right next the the G.W. Parkway, and is in a direct flight Plath to Regan National Airport. So, the sounds of the city never give way to the sounds of nature. Maybe that's fine for you. It's closed for months to repair a sewage siphon in spring, which is ridiculous. Decided to get out of the car and start walking down the trail and this turned out to be peaceful as all get out. A few yards into the tree line and you hear birds singing and insects chirping and the city washes away. The tall trees provide plenty of shade and relief from the afternoon sun. A few hundred yards down the trail you come to a clearing with a giant rock formation in the center. This is the Lyndon Baines Johnson Memorial Grove on the Potomac. There's a whole backstory to this memorial grove told by Lady Bird Johnson herself. Just press the button and listen to the recordings. From here facing east you can see the Potomac River and it's a beautiful spot. It's easy to see why President Johnson chose this location. He used to come here when he wanted to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the White House. The Mount Vernon Trail passes through the park so watch out for joggers and cyclists. You can find restrooms and trash cans close to the parking lot and snacks are available at the Columbia Island Marina.

Here's why it's worth a visit: 1) Park: It's a larger park with lots of trees, flowers and picnic tables in shade for family getaways. There are trails throughout the park including one that leads to a pedestrian bridge to the Pentagon. 2) Parking: There's a free three-hour parking lot near the marina. 3) Memorial: In the middle of the park is a memorial for Lady Bird's husband, President Johnson. 4) Views: The views from the park are stunning. You can see the entire National Mall from across the river. If you need a park with fewer people and lots of shade, go here!

It seems as if the planes fly low almost every 2-3 minutes. It's a pretty good spot to take pictures. There's a trail for walking, plenty of people are walking, running, biking or on scooters. It's a nice picnic spot if you enjoy crowds spaced out. There's a porta potty that would be awesome if it were replaced with real bathrooms.

The park itself has two playgrounds, tennis courts, restrooms, picnic tables and a trail that hugs the creek. Because of its location, it's a popular park for all people- families, runners, nature lovers. The last time however it seems they have been cleaned up since this. It has a trail along Rock Creek. It's popular with dog walkers and joggers. Watch so you don't step in waste.
