While there was quite a few surgeries today on the books and live, the staff still makes you feel that they understand your situation and they are very caring and attentive. Just had an epidural here, literally an hour ago. I can't speak highly enough of every staff member with whom I interacted. Everyone was kind and sincerely caring. I'm always on the opposite side of Yelp. The 5 star places give me crummy service and this place has 3 stars but gave me excellent service. Care was smooth and with no issues. There were some delays with the schedule but I expected it. Staff was friendly, helpful, answered questions and made the visit as comfortable as possible. Towards the end of the day we asked if we could stay longer and they accommodated our schedule. I recommend this place. read more

Communication was terrible, they don't allow family to see the patient before they go into surgery "since Covid". Pre-surgery is scary for the patient and there was no ability for us to console them while they waited for hours to be taken to the operating room. I watched as an older autistic child, whose first language was not English, freaked out as they separated him from his family in the lobby, they finally relented and let the mom go back with him. Nurses were terrible at passing along information, we had no idea what was going on. Front staff was pleasant, and people were pleasant if you got a hold of them. Good luck as they dashed quickly away so they wouldn't have to interact. Just not a good experience. read more

MINUS 0 STARS IF POSSIBLE!!! Had shoulder surgery (rotator cuff & bicep) on 2/22/24. Worst experience ever!!! Staff literally pushed me out into the parking lot before I'd met with my doctor after my surgery and was still feeling very anesthetized. It was pretty apparent they had overbooked procedures that day and needed to clear me out (I saw them cleaning the spot I was in from the wheelchair they'd put me in). My husband had called from the waiting room asking if he could come in and speak to the doctor or any nurses and told him "just go out to the parking lot" where they proceeded to wheel me out with a sling improperly affixed to my arm and shoulder! Worst surgery center and experience ever-not even instructing -telling or showing me how to wear the sling properly! They sure did demand full payment upon walking in the door though!!! Had to call billing back twice to leave messages for a return call for a copy of my bill & procedure. Turns out my insurance had already paid them and it was literally like pulling teeth to get a refund. Crooks! Had to call multiple calls to get some money back and they couldnt explain the bill. It's been nearly 3 months since I've had my hand surgery by Nicole Nemeth. I still have no strength in my dominant hand, right hand my hand throbs my wrist throbs and really hurt. It's even hard for me to use my hand getting out of the tub, I don't have the strength to pull myself up, the palm of my hand hurts so bad and is still sore. I cannot believe she did surgery on my hand and knew she wasn't qualified. My hand should be almost perfect. Instead I feel like I may need another surgery, Not by Nicole Nemeth. My hand literally feels worse than it did before the surgery. I didn't have as many problems with my hand as I have now. Nicole Nemeth didn't know what she was doing. If you are ever needing surgery and you are referred to this surgeon please go somewhere else she is awful when. I tell you my hand is worse than the reason why I had the surgery.This is malpractice. I can barely use my hand. She need her license taken away that's if she has a license. I truly believe that she is a student and that's from the care that she gave me. My hand hurts everyday. She did not know what she was doing. I truly believe she is a student , nobody asked me could a student work on my hand. This is my experience and my opinion. read more

The staff was okay, except the part where they fully avoided me when they were running 2 HOURS behind and didn't inform me until 1.5 hours past my surgery time. The reason for 2 stars is their billing department. They are the WORST. Do NOT pay upfront. They can't make you, even though they make it sound like you won't get service if you don't. Let them bill you. Trying to get any overpayment back is a nightmare as they act like you're in the wrong. I eventually had to get my insurance to call the supervisor Margie to clear it up as she kept saying my insurance declined to pay, and if they didn't, I would be billed for what they did not pay. Which is quite illegal. In fact, they did not decline it was a discrepancy in invoice amounts, and Margie was looking at a different screen. All of this I had to follow up with, multiple phone calls, and a lot of unneeded stress. read more

I feel like my experience here went pretty smoothly. One of the few things that bothered me is that as we were on our way I get a call saying that my surgery was moved to earlier and someone must've forgotten to call me to let me know. This made me a little more anxious but ended up being nice because the whole pre op experience went quick. Reviews are pretty accurate about there being little privacy in the pre op area. They also asked for a urine sample from everyone but didn't tell me why which I felt like they should explain. Fraudulent accounting! Went in for surgery, it was fine because my doctor was good. Part of the procedure was not necessary but I had to pay out-of-pocket in advance $6k. First, they told me "it was a process" to get refunded, then they said, "it takes 2 weeks", on the 3rd call they went back to "its a process", on the 4th call it changed to "we need to wait for the insurance company to pay the bill". Basically, they lied and continue to lie because they don't want to pay a refund that due for something that was not done. read more

Everyone from the receptionist , to the nurses , to the anesthesiologist I was treated with great care . Now recovering....Thanks folks! I would post some photos but they wouldn't be pretty! . I was injured running real badly....Doctor William Brown 3 is a skilled expert at adductor an hernia type procedures. If I could put ZERO stars I would - This place has has the WORST and most inefficient BILLING DEPARTMENT. They have stolen money from my family. Despite proving the deposit and copay my son and I put down on his surgery bill, they have harassed and threaten to ruin his credit to the point where I was held hostage to pay. This is the worst experience with an outpatient surgery center. After I woke up from my procedure they hurried me to get dress and gave the discharge papers and a piece of equipment to my husband which they did not go over. I needed the same procedure again because the first one didn't take all of the way. The appointment was changed three times because the required machine was down, the 4th time was changed because anesthesiologist was sick. So finally they gave me a date no specific time but I was told they will call before the day of surgery. They called "meaning the billing dept" to let me know my copay if I want to pay over the phone and as of 3:45 pm the day before the procedure nobody has called. Why would I pay in advance when they canceled four times. I called my doctor they gave me the time which would be 3pm arrive at 2pm. I had heard they don't like dealing with patients on MediCal or Medicare. I am 65 retiree and have Medicare with supplemental medical insurance that I pay for. I don't know if assumptions were made because of race or age for such poor treatment. read more

I was the 3rd person after they opened in the morning. the registration person was kind and courteous. I was told to give a urine sample, the specimen collection basket was full of yesterday's specimens mixed in with open dirty specimen containers. The waiting room had trash and water bottles which makes you think it wasn't cleaned from yesterday. I was called back shortly after checking in by someone who looked like they needed another cup of coffee or two. I was then gruffly grilled by another nurse who would just say my Dr already told me the answers to my questions and ignored me when I would tell her that I have not talked to my Dr yet. My surgery was delayed because my surgeon was stuck in traffic but all that did was make the staff in a worse mood and rush once he did arrive running my injured leg several times into the walls/door jams and then being irritated at me when I told them I could not walk to the OR table when they asked me to. I woke up in recovery to someone screaming at me the question "Are you in Pain!" since I opened my eyes and they stayed open they had me get dressed and I was wheeled out to my husband at the car still feeling fuzzy and weak from the residual anesthesia. They must have placed my crutches on the side of our car as I was getting in because my husband had to drive the 30 minutes back to pick them up, only to then realize the crutches were broken. The frustration, pain, and anxiety of the team doing a poor job as they rushed and seemingly cut corners to make up time was caused by morning traffic...I was told several times that either my Dr will talk or that He had already talked to me and when I would respond that he did not talk to me before my surgery and did not talk to me after I was totally ignored. I was hopeful that someone had talked to my husband, but beyond telling him my weight-bearing status and for me to ice and elevate no one talked to him either...so I have no idea how my surgery went, if there were any complications or what kind of follow up will be needed. read more

One of the best place to have medical care and surgery. They have excellent management to organize such a professional medical facility. They have well organized system from admission to discharge. Very quite and nice place. Perfectly organized and clean. The staff are very nice and professional that is the sign of good employee and employer relationship. My self as a family physician with private practice know how difficult is to have a good medical system in place. I had my surgery there and practically saw how my patients will be in a good hand when they get there. I will not hesitated any of my patients to have care at that facility. Thank you. read more

I had endoscopy here. My appointment was for 8 am but was asked to check in by 7:45 am which we did. However, we did not get called in until 8:30 to check it. We had to wait another hour for the pre-op room. I was asked to change and wait in another waiting area where they took my blood pressure and then stick in an IV needle in my arm. The first IV nurse was incompetent as she made two attempts and can't get it done. She then ask another nurse who got it done in one try. The anesthesiologist was great. Very friendly and walked me through the whole process. By around 10:30 am, the actual process started. I was out of there a little after 11 am. Overall, the staff were friendly and professional. The only knock I have is they seem to overbook which results in very long wait time. read more

I had knee surgery at Fremont Surgery Center on July 25, 2023 to repair torn cartilage. While the repair went splendidly (thank you Dr. C!), I ended up in the Emergency Department of my local hospital two hours after leaving Fremont. Apparently, the anesthesia shut down my bladder and I could not go at all. Things can back up pretty quickly given how much intravenous liquid they administer before and during the surgery. Thanks to a very kind triage nurse, I was given a catheter quickly and was on my way home. My complaint about the Fremont Surgery Center is their post-operative procedure should include a simple directive by the nurses: go pee before you leave here! Then, if there is a problem with Post-Operative Urinary Retention (yes, it is a thing: POUR!), they can deal with it at that time, saving a trip to the ER. read more

BE AWARE! I had surgery 4 months ago. Before surgery I was told twice by the Fremont Surgery Center that ALL will be in-network. They also told me they cannot tell me who the anesthesiologist will be, but it will be an in-network physician. But they chose out-of network services, and I received an out-of network bill over $10,000. After weeks of phone calls, the bill got reduced. But I am still saddled with a bill for out-of network services that is far far higher than what I would have paid in-network and I have not received any further help from Fremont Surgery Center. Worse, in the meantime I got another outrageous out-of network bill from yet another out-of network provider they used for my surgery. read more

I told them to zero out my bill or else I hire a lawyer and file a lawsuit and come after said nurse's license to practice. They said they would call me back when my balance was zero'ed out. I called back a couple weeks later, no action had been taken and the woman who answered the phone took the nurse's side. Couple weeks go past again, I call back and their records still show balance due. I spoke with a higher up and demanded she delete my profile while on the phone or else I'm hanging up and calling a lawyer. Finally that got their attention. This place rocks! The patient that I pick up has been here more times than I can remember. Every time her procedure is finished, they give me a call to let me know that she's ready. Once I was going to be late for pick up, and the receptionist informed that they'd stay as long as it took me to get there, which would have been at least an hour after closing time. I decided to just miss my appointment to accommodate everyone involved. The staff are always friendly and have a great bedside manner with the patient. However, the real reason this place is 5-star is because of the work that Dr. Goney Sandhu does. The patient has had several colonoscopies and at least one upper gastrointestinal endoscopy at the hands of Dr. Sandhu. Whenever polyps were present, he safely removed and and biopsied. Detection is key for removing polyps that may develop into colon cancer over time. Thanks Dr. Sandhu. read more

Underwent a procedure at his relatively new facility. Plenty of parking and relatively easy to locate near the Fremont Main Library and the BART station. I called several times to verify insurance as a result of other Yelp posters' experiences but found the billing folks quite helpful and reassuring. Good sized waiting area, and quite a number of patients/family members waiting around on this day. Complimentary coffee and water, with grocery stores and shopping areas located nearby. I don't believe WiFi was available, unfortunately. Was instructed to arrive 1.5 hours prior to my procedure, but delayed about ~1 hour. A pre-op staff member provided me the arrival time the day before and the anesthesiologist called me (very helpful) the night before to discuss pain control options. Check-in involved signing off of billing consents (facility, anesthesia, equipment), Advanced Directives, and privacy notices. It's a surgical factory for the most part, abundant patients entering and exiting, the facility houses a wide range of procedures -- e.g. the patients adjacent to me were having a hernia repair and spinal epidural. An aide provided me with a surgical gown, compression stockings, and urine analysis cup upon entry to the pre-op area. All personal belongings are locked up after changing, so there's likely no sense bringing along reading material or electronics (e.g. smartphone) as there's no opportunity to access them in the lockers. Patient beds are separated by curtains and both pre- and post-op areas were quite noisy as a result of the lack of sound insulation. I found the staff, including nurses and aides, sparsely trained -- familiar with only the rudimentary with regards to anatomy and medications. Moreso disconcerting were the dour demeanors and culture -- it was painfully evident from the moment patients were admitted at the front desk through post-op discharge. Almost reluctant eye-contact, begrudging attitudes, terse communication of only necessary information, laughing away with one another at the nurse stations only to turn to patients with unwelcoming resentment... Certainly this was not the case with the entirety of the staff, but the negative culture was sufficiently pervasive and transparent. Multiple delays -- daytime pre-op seem adequately staffed, whereas the afternoon/evening hours were woefully understaffed. Standard post-op routine -- water and crackers, supplemented by some fentanyl. Nurses and anesthesiologist had to treat and care for at least two patients at a time -- this resulted in delays to the post-op pain and nausea I experienced, but I did not feel my safety was compromised. In all, I spent about ~7 hours for my ~1 hour procedure, largely due to the aforementioned delays and understaffing. I appreciated the attentiveness and experience of my anesthiologist and other surgical room staff, but do not look forward to returning any time soon. read more

Had Surgery today was told Check In 5:30 am I arrived 5:15 am knocked on door and was greeted and told to wait Outdoors until the Intake Personal Arrived. They never offered to Open Their Doors to Allow a Senior Citizen to Sit Down until their Arrival. Once I entered the Building was Scanned Prescreened for Covid-19 eventhough I just had all Testing Covid-19 Completed. This Surgery Workerscomp had been delayed 2 year's already. Once I was getting Prepared IV established the Anesthesia Person came in Introduce Herself and proceeded my Injury was 10ft fall in which I Fractured Two Ribs, Punctured My Lung, Fractured Ulna,Radius,Severed 3 Major Nerves Ulna,Radius,Median, also Broke Majority of my Teeth. When the Anthethologist asked me to Open my Mouth I Did Her Vocal Response (OH MY) Embarrassing Enough this Experience was she NEED'S TO BE MORE PROFESSIONAL. One more important detail I left out while I was waiting in pre-op I was listening at the nurses while they were talking amongst each other disgusting your payscale how one nurse was saying that a scrub nurse was getting more than she was getting well that's not a place to talk about your pay scale. I could say this the only professional person in the only office was a doctor. And I found two wounds I didn't have before and nobody has even called me to see how I've been doing since the surgery how dumbfounded is that what care. read more

Surgery was in January 2020. Receptionist out front was friendly and facility was clean. My doctor is fabulous, and he did a wonderful job. My experience with the staff at FMS was not great. The following made me very nervous for my medical well being..... 1. The employee that brought me back to get ready started explaining to me how to put on stockings for my leg procedure....she put her hand up to me, palm facing me, to stop talking. (I interrupted because I was having SHOUlDER surgery) 2. I asked if she could help me tie the back of my gown tighter because I was in an open room with probably 10 patients AND their family members. I was told very loudly to remove my bra and underwear. When I asked for help w the gown, she said "That's as good as it gets." 3.When I got to the bed, another nurse explained to me that she was going to clean my leg for surgery. I'm having SHOULDER surgery. 4. When my IV was in, another nurse came and told the nurse who put it in, that is was "wrong one" and "too much." She changed it and assured me she was right. 5. Two female employees pulled the curtain next to me and were talking. One was crying because she made a mistake and the doctor yelled at her in front of people. The other one said, "it's ok, the patient is fine." Sorry you got yelled at, but all I could think was WHAT did she do? Will it happen to ME? 6. At the end, ANOTHER nurse who I had never seen before tried to put my sling on backwards (anchored over the injured shoulder) My husband put the sling on the correct way. The entire time, about 5-7 nurses were behind a counter, sharing pictures/videos of their grandkids and their vacations. I kind of felt like they were more interested in their phones than the patients. When I appeared very nervous, for the reasons mentioned above, 2 nurses came over and were very comforting, saying it would be fine. I appreciate that, but what I saw and heard already caused me to be nervous. I understand that this could have been on "off" day, maybe they're all very qualified overall. However, from my experience it seemed that a medical mistake could have been made VERY easily. I wasn't expecting customer service like I'm buying a new car, but I did expect competence. My perception is that the staff needs to tighten things up a bit. read more

I had a great experience with my perioperative team at Fremont Surgery Center. I didn't catch everyone's name, but I tried! Apologies for name spelling errors, but please know I appreciated you all so much! Kat RN was super kind and personable, as she greeted me at the door and walked me through the COVID screening process. Nicole was patient and helpful with my paperwork, then I was escorted back to the pre-op area to change. My assistant was super sweet and noticed I couldn't keep my gown closed because there was a tie missing, so she insisted on replacing it with a "proper one." My pre-op nurse was Dee, and she made me feel so comfortable, safe, and loved. She's been a nurse for 39 years, and her passion for her career is obvious! She told me how the team there felt like family, which made me feel very reassured, because I know that happy employees that work well together makes a HUGE difference in quality of care. I didn't catch who started my IV, but she got it on the first try and it hardly hurt a bit. My anesthesiologist Dr. Yang was very nice and had a good sense of humor (important!) I didn't feel or remember a thing, and I'm still alive and well, so I'd say that was a success! Cassie was my RN Circulator, and I immediately loved her. We had lots in common, she was obviously very skilled and experienced, and she made me feel totally comfortable and secure. Junie was my Scrub, a role that RARELY gets recognized, so an extra big THANK YOU for assisting and keeping me safe during surgery! My surgeon was Dr. Brown, who will get his own 5-star review because he has been absolutely amazing throughout my entire perioperative journey. He has even called multiple times to check on me post operatively, and he'll be helping me start my rehab program in a few weeks. Melanie and a couple of other nurses helped me in PACU, and all were extremely kind, patient, and helpful! It was nice to see Kat again, as she completed my discharge (we have the same name, so I felt like we were insta-friends). I was escorted by wheelchair to the car, and the whole thing took under 3 hours! I'm sorry to see others had less than stellar experiences, because mine was absolutely perfect. If you couldn't tell already, I'm an OR RN myself, so I know how this is supposed to go - and they nailed it! Thank you all SO much for all your hard work. read more

The billing department is a mess and in complete disarray. It truly amazes me that they are able to stay in business. They "lost" my check/payment for the first bill I received in which I paid the outstanding amount in full after my insurance company made their payment. I then received another bill identical to the first (with no notation of my "misplaced" payment which I had to have my bank put a STOP payment on after 2 months) but with a new line item titled "Debit/Cred Contract". Prior to attempting to pay my bill in full a second time I wanted to understand what this new "Debit/Cred Contract" charge was for. I have left countless voicemails for Teresa whom appears to be the only person in the billing department and the only one who can help me. Honestly, I am not sure if Teresa exists or perhaps she doesn't know how to use the phone ;) The front desk says that they can't help and is always very quick to transfer me to Teresa who never answers her phone. Therefore you are left with the black hole that is her voicemail. Now I am getting threats from Fremont Surgery Center that they will be sending me to collections if I don't pay immediately. HELLO FREMONT SURGERY CENTER!!!! TERESA, BUELLER (FERRIS), ANYBODY??? I am more than happy to pay my bill in full once I have a simple explanation as to what this charge is for. I am sure that this can be resolved and straightened out in less than 5 minutes over the phone. Teresa, it seems as if you are overwhelmed...perhaps you "misplaced" your phone bill and that is why you are unable to return a phone call??? Anybody out there??? There incompetence is mind blowing and will waste countless hours of your time if you have any questions or god forbid they "misplace" your original payment you are in for a world of pain. It's frustrating when you keep getting the round around with their billing department. I've been dealing with their billing department since mid-August and still hasn't been resolved. I've been leaving messages for Yvette at their Billing Dept to give me a call back or her Manager and still no response. To keep my story short, paid my balance in full on June 29, 2021 and their billing department still kept charging my credit card every month in July and August. Melissa had told me they will expedite a refund check to me in Mid-August. It is now late October and only received 1out of 2 refund after numerous phone calls snd messages.
