I lived for almost 4 weeks in one of Rennschuh apartments while on a work assignment for my…read morecompany. My company made the arrangements and payed for this apartment so i have no idea how much my company is paying for the room. I have stayed in other hotels in Gottingen for up to a week at a time and all were much newer or at least newly remodeled. The Rennschuh apartments are not part of the main hotel building which i have the impression was a much newer building than the apartment building in which was staying. This building was very old and appeared to only have the bathroom re molded or added within the past 15 years. I can only compare the structure of this apartment to a very old motel that might accept pay by the hour clients In the United States although from the front it looked like an older traditional German home. I do realize that if the apartment was built in 1910 it may be considered a "new structure" when compared to many buildings in Germany. When I arrived I found a pare of socks and a small can of deodorant that was left by the last inhabitants, unfortunately the room smelled of stale cigarets, i had insisted on a non smoking room when I spoke to my company about my needs for the 4 weeks, when I told the hotel staff that I needed a different apartment they advised me that they would not have one available for 3 weeks, it was almost 10 pm and I had not slept for 36 hours, so I decided I would contact my company the next day to resolve the issue. The next morning before I had left to go to work the hotel had sent two people to clean the room with a bucket of cleaning solution and rags, they wiped down many surfaces of the room in what turned out to be a successful attempt to rid the room of the stale cigaret smoke smell, as you can tell I ended up staying. The apartment included a small kitchen, bedroom & bathroom and most appliances needed to feed yourself. The accomidationis were ok, but nothing that made me feel like home. The room was cleaned and the linen & towels were changed every Friday, considering the old plaster walls the cleanliness was ok. The room had a 13" CRT color tv (I specified "color TV" as a black &white TV would have not looked out of place in the old room), the TV had a remote that would change the volume and channel, you had to get out of bed to turn the TV on and off, this was not a big deal to me because their was only one English speaking TV channel, (CNN). The Rennschuh does have free Internet, although the signal strength in the apartment was very marginal from time to time, I was able to use Skype with full video most of the time and when willing to tolerate delays I also watched NBC TV shows on my iPad. The staff was VERY nice and responded quickly to any request that I had, the European style free breakfast each morning was excellent, the meal was probably responsible for me gaining 7-8 lbs while I was their. They also had a small swimming pool, a dry/wet sauna and a tanning bed in the main hotel building, but I did not use them so I cannot say much about them except they looked very modern and clean. I was fortionant enough to have a company car for the entire time I stayed at the hotel, parking was a problem if I worked past 7 pm (19:00). Many times I found one or two tour buses parked in the lot in front of my apartment, when this happened i had to find parking in the restaurant lot next door, during the last week i discovered an underground parking lot under part of the hotel.

I recently stayed for four nights for business and did not have to pay for this stay, so perhaps I…read moreshould not complain, but thought I should warn others that are. What is good: Breakfast is amazing, the room was clean, and most of the staff was courteous and helpful. What was not so good: The rooms are very basic/minimalist. The one pillow was like not having one. Same for the old small towel in the bathroom. There was an old hand towel, but no washcloth. Used dirty all-in-one hair/body wash dispensers with soap that does not smell good. I recommend bringing you own. They still offer drinking glasses set upside down directly on the bathroom sink instead of more sanitary wrapped plastic cups. The wifi in my room was absolutely the worst I have ever experienced. If I did get connected it was slow and not for very long. I really felt disconnected from my family in NY. Finally some, especially one, of the reception staff was rude and obviously inconvenienced when I asked for assistance. I thought it might be just me, but noticed it was the same for the German speaking customers. This is definitely not a resort getaway.
