I've had so many negative experiences at this hospital that we now only go there if it's absolutely…read morelife-or-death (heart attack, car wreck, etc.). Otherwise, we make the 40-minute drive to Joplin. Two years ago, my daughter had a herniated disc in her back. At Via Christi, they told her it would heal on its own and didn't even give her a day off work. It didn't heal. We went to Joplin, and she had surgery a month later. I also went there for severe hip pain, barely able to walk. They said it was just water on the joint and that it would resolve on its own. It didn't. Two months later, I ended up having a hip replacement. I had hip dysplasia and was bone-on-bone by the time Via Christi saw me. An orthopedic surgeon scheduled surgery within days. The final straw was about six months ago. I have a partial bowel obstruction, and my gastroenterologist told me to go to the ER. I live in Pittsburg, so I reluctantly went to Via Christi (now Mercy), hoping things had improved under new ownership. They hadn't. When I arrived, the staff basically said, "What are you doing here? What are we supposed to do?" I explained my doctor had sent me there, but they treated me terribly--like I was wasting their time and inconveniencing them. Yes, there are some decent staff members, but most have the worst bedside manner I've ever seen. After everything I've been through, I won't trust this hospital again until real changes are made.

It's a hospital, and not somewhere you really enjoy spending your time, unless maybe you're…read morevisiting someone who just had a baby. But when you have an ill family member (in this case, my dad), you want it to be at least tolerable. And that's what this place is. The people are friendly and it seems like an okay place. The cafeteria has soft drinks/tea for $.75 and $.50 refills, so that's not bad. They have a $3.00 breakfast special, and although I added a biscuit, it bumped it up to a $5.00 breakfast. It wasn't that good of a biscuit. They say they have free wi-fi but I never could get it to work. I didn't ask if you needed a password, as it wasn't that big of a deal, but if I were going to be there a long time and had my laptop, I sure would! The elevators and stairs are clearly marked, and easy to find. The fourth floor waiting room was fine. We would head down there when the nurses needed to take care of dad's personal hygiene. I really wouldn't wish anyone to have to stay here, either as a patient ot a family member visiting a patient, but if you do, at least you know you'll be in good hands.

I would give a zero period! but it's not an option. I…read morehave been in healthcare since 1982, in three different states, and never have I worked for a healthcare system that did NOT pay out earned unused PTO. Until I ran into greedy, all about the money, but currently building a new hospital, pay is poor, they are in a branding war with local Mercy hospital, hospital is a business, and patients are customers thousands spent on advertisements in this branding war, and you wouldn't pay unused PTO. I have been cheated out of my earned PTO 94 hours ($3,800 est) by Freeman Health (I won't use the word "care" cause they don't care) System. Shame on you! pictures below show employee handbook sections that leave out the statement "2 years." my earned PTO will not be given, and here is the excuse: Here is information from the Employee Handbook (page 40), Tona. Employees will receive payment for all earned and unused PTO, up to a maximum of 376 hours, upon resignation or termination with their last paycheck if they have been employed for two (2) years or more based on if hired before April 1, 2024. Employees hired after April 1, 2024, will be paid out all earned and unused PTO if they have been employed for five (5) years. Employees do not earn PTO during the last pay period of employment, nor can the last day of employment be PTO. Since you have not been employed for more than two years, then any unused PTO is forfeited. Thank you for your time with Freeman, and if you have further questions/concerns, please let me know. Thank you. Diane Smith Employee Relations Representative Where she get this from? why is this not in the intranet employee handbook. pictures below show the employee handbook. So then I asked if the information on page 33 was incorrect? response: No, that's a separate portion of the employee handbook that is accurate, but I don't see where paid time off is addressed in that section. Please let me know what you're seeing in that section that you feel it addresses PTO. I've been employed with Freeman for more than 10 years, and the policy I quoted below has always been the policy for those employed before 4/1/24. Also, you can't transfer to another department until after one year, most systems in healthcare allow transfer after 6 months. So you are trapped in your department. I was an employee of FHS for 1 year and 13 days. I never called in, I was late twice. I showed uo for work and worked. That will not be appreciated in this system as evidenced by stealing my EARNED PTO! I do not recommend FHS for employment. In closing, if you steal from your employees, you are probably stealing from your patients as well.

Very good place. We've had both our children here and they always treat us with the upmost respect.read more
