We had our wedding bands tattooed in 2017 & touched up in 2018. Today we had a sunflower & Marine Raider patch tattooed on my husband and me. It was another great experience with Andrew for us both.

Everything seemed cool at first, I sent her the pics of the tatts I wanted and scheduled the appointment for this Thursday. She tells me deposit is $100 via messenger. I told her I could pay her the next day (it was late Saturday night) on Sunday once I was off work at 6pm. She tells me she only accepts Chime payments which seemed weird claiming she doesn't handle cash or any other form payment. After talking to my husband it seemed sketchy I've never had an artist tell me they only deal with CHIME. I messaged her back and told her to cancel the appointment (this was on Sunday) and decided to just go to someone who was referred by a friend. I deleted the conversation and went on my day. She starts messaging the next day NOW OFFERING TO ACCEPT CASHAPP and sends me a cashapp tag that didnt seem to match her name. I still didn't respond because its giving weird and sketchy. She then offers to take $20 off...big deal the tatts weren't expensive. So because I would no longer respond to her anymore she decided that she would send me this message. If your that upset because I decided to not let you tattoo me TOO BAD. All you did is prove how unprofessional you are. Watch out and be careful doing business with this one.

Good: Communication with the team went well. Prompt…read moreresponses and very kind. They found the artist they said would best fit the work we wanted to get done, and they used our reference photos. The building had a good vibe, but was very outdated and cluttered too. Bad: They used our reference photos with little-to-no adjustments, changes or tweaks. If I had said nothing, they would've changed nothing. When I've worked with a tattoo artist in the past, it's always a back and forth communication with their artistic experience and my desires. They suggest changes or tweaks, and I accept or counter them. We find a middle ground. I felt like I went in to get stamped, instead of to experience getting a meaningful tattoo. I still think my tattoo is meaningful, but the experience, was not. I also hope you're okay with the fresh smell of cigarettes and weed, and okay with any and all effects that may have on your permanent art piece and experience. Smoking right before tattooing obvious non-smokers is certainly a bold choice, but it is a choice that's up to the individual. We had already paid our non-refundable deposit, so we didn't back out of it at the time, but it does prevent us from going back. Post-tattoo: After healing, there are spots that need touched up, spots that have been overworked, and the line control could still use work. There is still good work that was done, and it's better than I could do though. Sooo Overall, I'm glad it wasn't a horrendous experience, but I've definitely had better. Did I have a Good Time at "Good Times Tattoo Company"? Yes. But it was not a great time. Use your own discretion to make your own choices.

TLDR; DON'T GO HERE MARINES. Overcharged, artist slow-walked the process, made a 2hr tattoo take 4…read morehours. Tattoo shop offered a $100 gift card on Black Friday, then they deliberately made sure to negate the value of the gift card by slow walking the tattoo process by taking 4-5 breaks on a 2 hour tattoo. The Artist Name is JT. My wife and I have over 40 hours of experience being tattooed, 10+ sessions each, at various locations across San Diego, Los Angeles, and Seattle. In the case of Dark Artisan Tattoo, my wife was quoted 4 hours of work from 2-6pm, she was required to put a 30% deposit down on this quote. Upon arriving at the shop, the artist and my wife decided that the size of the tattoo was too large for the area and decided to reduce the size and scope of work by 50%. Any reasonable person would assume, a reduction in size of a tattoo by 50% would mean, less time to complete, as the scope of the work is greatly reduced. What was a 4 hour tattoo became a 2hr tattoo, so to compensate for the reduction in tattoo hours, the artist took 4-5 breaks over the session; and upon completion, asked my wife to sit in the lobby for 20 minutes to let the ink settle so he could go back in a darken the tattoo more, even though he claimed it was already finished. Ultimately, the session took over 4 hours, and my wife was required to pay full price, even though the work was cut in half. The artist slow walked the tattoo to make more money. Here is the worst part, the business manager offered to let my wife come back into the shop and grab some free merch, but refused to refund her for the overcharge. The Business manager Kelly then tried to tell me that the Artist has a meter on his tattoo gun that can prove how long his tattoo gun was working. And when I asked to see the meter from my wife's tattoo, Kelly claimed that they conveniently no longer had that data as it has been a couple days since the tattoo took place. Even though, I lodged my complaint 5 minutes after my wife left the tattoo session, they didn't think to collect that data off the gun when I specifically complained about this issue. If this "tattoo-time meter" actually exists, they deliberately mismanaged this situation to avoid having to show proof. Lastly, I don't expect this shop to be open for long. Another tattoo shop at the edge of a Marine Corps base, taking advantage of young Marines who are none the wiser. Karma exists. Also the receptionists and staff have zero people skills and are often on their phones or browsing social media when interacting with you, horrible vibe. Creative minds are typically terrible business minds. This is a classic example of yet another creative mind, trying to manage a business and failing miserably at the most important aspect of their bottom line: customer satisfaction.
