Half a year ago I took my bike for a regular service in their branch in Oerlikon. My bike was…read moreworking fine at that point. They told me they would have to replace the chain and both front and back chainrings, ok sure, that's over 400 CHF.
Since then I've used my bike to cycle to work and have been very careful with it. A week ago the front chainring broke, so I took the bike here since the Oerlikon branch is closing down. I assumed since I hadn't done anything wrong and since it broke after only half a year that they would cover it. I asked them to take a look and let me know.
Today I receive a text saying that I have to pay 150 CHF. Turns out they've already replaced the part (now a second time) without asking me (when I explicitly told them to contact me first). They claim that the damage was my fault. Which sure, I guess they can't know, but I do and so either they gave me a defective part or installed it incorrectly. So now I don't trust them to work on my bike a second time. However, they tell me that either I pay up, or they put the bike in the original state and I still have to pay 45 CHF.
If I'd never taken my bike here, I would still have a working bike but also 550 CHF more. I think I can see why the Oerlikon store closed...
