For those of us who appreciate the deep importance of supporting independent voices for fostering a true community of diversity, Filmmakers is of central importance. Bravo!

I became a member to get access to equipment. You pay membership plus the access level you want…read more Came out to a pretty good darn deal. Some of the equipment they loan out are worth thousands. Thought a few hundred for membership was worth it. Plus being around people with similar interests would have been fun. I stopped by the school to check out the facilities and to ask questions. Listening to them explain everything was like watching lolcat videos on YouTube. Made me want to blow my brains out. It was so awkward to watch them struggle to explain everything. Luckily, I found a video on their website that helped. I wanted to rent their equipment so I needed to do a test out in front of them to show that I knew how to use the equipment. Some gentleman schedule me on a day he was going to work so he can test me out. That day I showed up 10 minutes before my appointment. 40 minutes later that gentleman still didn't show up. The people there said that he should be here and they didn't know why he wasn't here. After pacing around their lounge, the gentleman finally called in and said he doesn't work that day even though he schedule me for that day. So there was no one there to test me except a guy who normally doesn't use said equipment. I then moved over to the "in-house" window to pay for my membership. Person there had trouble figuring out what to charge me. I came back several times and I've notice their tone of voice with me was different than to regulars and students. They were borderline annoyed whenever I ask questions. However, they seems very pleasant to students and regulars. They would often ask about other people's work and how things are coming along. I feel like the fat kid that didn't get picked at PE. Every time I've been there, they are eating. Don't really have a problem with this but they do have a video online stating no food except for the lounge. I would assume it would be a good idea not to eat food around thousands of dollars of equipment. Overall, it is not the best run organization, a bit amatuerish but the facilities are pretty nice. It is definitely a good price if you're starting out in film or photography. Their equipment is a bit dated but it is cheaper to rent than to buy. Parking is pretty rough, especially during school hours. Overall, equipment access was my main goal. I guess making friends would take some time. I'll just lay low and mind my own business in the mean time.

I got there around 5:20 and I wasn't very close to the front of the line. But because of the wait it was nice to talk to the people around you in line. There were even girl scouts selling cookies to everyone waiting which I thought was genius. They have a big fish sandwich and a small fish sandwich and then you get two sides. You can get stewed tomatoes, mac and cheese, coleslaw, or fries. They might have different mains other than the fish sandwiches but I usually just go for that so I don't think I looked at anything else. It is cash only but there's an ATM on site and you can order ahead for pickup. But if you have the time I would say sit and wait and hang out there because they have a banjo band that will also play polka. It's a really great experience and the food is delicious. Just know that you might wait a little bit but it's worth it.
