This had major potential to be rated higher. A romantic feel with deep colours, wood and large adorning mirrors. The aesthetics are well finished. Pasta is made on site each day. Female waitstaff were incredibly professional, friendly and accomodating. The garlic bread was served hot. The prawn bruschetta an interesting addition to the bread menu. We ended up not cutting the birthday cake there but as a treat for the birthday girl, she was given a plate of two quenelles (strawberry and pineapple). As small as it was we managed to share between the four of us to all have a taste. It was simply delicious with the pineapple my favourite.
With all this said you may be questioning the 3 stars. The truth is...... $40 for a spaghetti marinara (we ordered 2, so $80 of pasta for 2 people) is an absolute rip off and I don't care that it's seafood and handmade. I say the staff were professional (and they were), but it ultimately came across pretentious when you are being called Sir or Mam at the table whilst hearing the chef swearing "you've got to be fucking kidding me" from the kitchen. My partner said he heard them swear another time as well and looked in the direction to see the waitress see him and look away embarrassed. The table settings were also a recipe for disaster with a lot not to accidentally bump such as entree plates with knife and wine glasses. Not child friendly in that regard but I think some places should be child free and I think this is one of those places. read more
