We arrived on a Saturday evening and all of the tables in the Biergarten were already occupied or reserved so we had to sit inside the newer part of the restaurant that overlooks the Biergarten. They have a special offering every Saturday night of roast sucking pig and dumplings with salads along with the regular menu of regional fare. Two of us had the special and another had the sauerbraten. The roast pork was out of this world! Max, the owner's son, served up generous portions of meat and even offered second helpings. My son enjoyed his sauerbraten as well. The older part of the Gasthaus dates back to the 17th century and is in beautiful shape. I will definitely return if I am ever in the area again. It is only 15 min. From Rothenberg ob der Tauber and well worth the drive if you have a car. I would even suggest staying there as they have added seven new rooms to the original four rooms. This would be a great base area for exploring Rothenberg and the surrounding area. You can get a much better feel, for the local culture compared with staying in Rothenberg with all of the tourists. Be advised that they do not accept credit cards as they are a small business and there is not an ATM very close so bring some cash. Dinner for 3, incl. beers, was less than 50€. Make a reservation so you can be seated in the Biergarten.

Traveling with my son who is an extremely picky eater loves this place. The pizzas are huge and inexpensive. You definitely want to split a pizza because you can only eat half or a third if you order a large salad. All the pastas are delicious. The gnocchi Gamberti is my favorite, which is with Rosa sauce and prawns. My husband ordered spinach ravioli which is great for vegetarian. The tortellini with ham was a little salty for me but my husband thought it was great. If you don't mind salt, the ham adds to it. This is a solid place sure to please all.

Food is tasty and service ok. Positive about the place was, that we found a table, even that it was crowded - the waiter service supported us here perfectly. Downside: Restrooms need to be cleaner and renovation of the place would be good. - Upside: I could have a look into the kitchen - seemed to be somehow clean. Would I check in here again: YES Service: 4 Food: 4 Location: 3 Cleanliness Restrooms: 2 (nearly 3 - it was not THAT bad)
