We've been going to Frank since it was a Large Restaurant in Ripon so glad to find that they haven't gone away and are instead a now small downtown café in Manteca. We walked in at 8 AM and the place was completely empty. Within 30 minutes. every table was taken, including the three outside. Eggs were cooked perfect, good quality sausage & bacon, waffle & pancake also good, only downside was the coffee which tasted like Manteca tap water. Good sized portions, took home enough for breakfast the next day. Saw the breakfast burrito come out and it was HUGE! If you're very hungry or want a shared dish that's the way to go. We moved here in 2019 and have been coming to what we call Uncle Franks cafe ever since. The atmosphere is really inviting and family-oriented. Never will you feel unwelcome or unsafe. Uncle Frank, the owner and occasionally cook, is friendly and respectful to his customers, greeting them whenever possible. My partner enjoys the country fried steak. It's the only thing on my menu he likes, and he orders it every time lol! Their breakfast sandwiches and burritos are both savory and very good. At about 10am Monday the place was pretty packed so I sat outside at one of their 2 dog friendly tables. I didn't realize it was also handicapped until someone came by in a scooter and hugged at me until I offered to move and they just went inside. I didn't realize I was sitting at their table. I couldn't finish the senior sausage eggs pancakes. Link sausages were big and good better than what you get elsewhere. I wasn't forgotten out front with frequent refills of my Dr Pepper. Went here with my niece to kill some time. Location: central, easy parking (weekday am) I drove by it twice because there is no visible signage that states the actual name of the Café. Location is small and quaint. There was quite a few people in there for a midweek morning. You can tell that most of them are regulars/locals. The menu serves breakfast and lunch options. Best hack for Great Wolf Lodge: Get out and get some bomb-diggity breakfast at this downtown gem. Christina was awesome in recommending my side to be biscuits and gravy since we were already getting so many pancakes on the table. My wife had the Mexican hot chocolate which came with a full cinnamon stick and tasted perfectly yummy. My Portuguese omelette was fantastically full of meat chunks and perfectly balanced with the beans on top. We no longer have authentic diner food in San Jose and you can tell these locals are cooking it up right. Christina shared her story of the old Manteca waterslides which i had visited way back in the day and our kids were in awe of meeting someone who was here before the Great Wolf Lodge :) Food was AWESOME! Great food, even better service. I stopped by mid week and was surprised to see how busy they were. Since it was my first visit I spied on the other patrons dishes. Everything looked to delicious which made ordering really hard. Our table opted for the following: Chorizo breakfast burrito - best thing we ordered IMO. This thing was massive. I ate half while seated, ate a 1/3 of the other half that evening, and ate the remainder the following morning. It was perfectly wrapped and the chorizo to rice to hash brown to cheese ratio was perfect, too. Chorizo omelette - especially delicious decision especially if you like omelettes. The meat was seasoned super well. Cinnamon bun - skip this. Kind tasted like Pine Sol... don't know why.. Side peach slices - skip this. These were not fresh. If you like canned sliced peaches go ahead and order. Orange juice - fresh squeezed so definitely a must order. The place is small-ish on the inside but could serve a good amount of patrons. What better way to have lunch than in the pouring rain outside of Frank's Downtown Cafe! This is a tiny cafe so seating is pretty limited and there are a few tables outside with some cover and heaters. Although if the weather isn't too great it can be pretty rough. Customer service wise a little hit or miss depending on who is serving you, but overall it is solid. Downtown Manteca isn't loaded with a ton of options, but this is one of the busier places to eat for breakfast/lunch. I ordered the Downtown Omelette ($17) and Belgian Waffle ($11). I also ordered the english muffin with the omelette and I should've taken a pic because the amount of butter was unreal. They probably were like would you like some english muffin with that butter of yours? I couldn't even eat it because it was dripping everywhere in melted butter. The omelette was fine, but a little overcooked. I loved the hash browns though. They had a nice crisp on the outter park and had a nice flavor. The Belgian Waffle is pretty standard. Both dishes had a huge portion which is probably the biggest appeal. The waffle was good although could be a little crispier. Overall wasn't in love with the food here, but it was worth a try. read more

(Friendly, but if we are giving back dishes with more than half left food, the waiter should've asked if the food was ok) Unfortunately the food is inedible. Coming from the Bay Area, have never tasted anything worse. (This may be okay standards in the middle of America.) Biscuits and gravy tasted like it was made from hamburger buns and boxed gravy. French toast is 10 times worse than what I can make at home. Love the vibe so wanted to like the food, but was purely inedible. Really good service but the food was just average. I got the French toast combo with scrambled eggs and bacon. The food came out really quick, less than 5 minutes after ordering. I prefer my bacon crispy and it was cold and soft which was disappointing. The scrambled eggs were good with hot sauce. The French toast was just okay. The food was great! We ordered chicken and waffles and the chorizo scramble (not on the menu but I asked if I could turn the omelet into a scramble) thank you to the staff for accommodating! Both were good but I think I like the chicken and waffles more. I will have to order next time. We also ordered a mimosa and Mexican mocha. Nice to have a sit down restaurant close by. This is a family owned mainstay of downtown Manteca. Very small and quite kitschy (dated). Came in with the parents who frequent often. They like the quaintness. The menu and food is pretty basic, and straightforward. Nothing exciting, but you know what you can expect here. My big complaint is the number of flies that were extremely annoying throughout the meal. We had to keep one hand free to swat them away constantly. read more
