I guess the first review will be in English This place is an…read moreoddity in a city where good beer places do not open until 7 PM. Tucked off the main area of Palermo SoHo this Gastropub seems to be trying to tackle the tasteful day drinker market. I do not believe you can really find a Beer Bar with this sort of selection during the daylight hours. As this place is extremely new it is also a hidden gem when it comes to what they have to offer. - Beer - This place has twelve taps that tend to rotate enough to warrant coming back multiple times. From what I can tell they source from Argentinian breweries only and shy away from giving you the standard Quilmes/Patagonia lineup I see in every bar so you probably will be enjoying something new. They also have a very wide variety that will probably have most beer drinkers enjoying at least one of their taps any time they walk in. The beer lines are cold and they seem to take a lot of pride with providing beer that they are proud of as well. True to Argentinian brewery standards you usually see beer hovering around the 4-7% Alc mark and the IBU's never really exceed 50, though I once saw a 10% here and I am hoping they try to follow that up. They do growlers fills also. - Food - Usually I go to beer bars with low expectations for food as the shining star is almost always the beer that they have to offer. While the beer here is amazing the food that they have is on another level! I have tried a wide variety of burger places in Palermo and the surrounding districts and I can tell you Grifo Divino makes the best burger I have tried in this city so far, I would even go so far as to say they out-do a lot back home in Seattle as well. If beer is not your style I would highly suggest going in just for the burger alone. They stack it high with an assortment of add-ons in addition to the fact that they have somewhere around 10 different sauces to throw on whatever you are eating. The other food on the menu is great as well In addition to their fries. - Ambiance - I enjoy this place because the pace seems to be less overwhelming than a few other beer bars I have seen in the area. They have a large table in the back that can accommodate a dozen people. I would say they have about 8 tables inside that can be rearranged depending on the size of your group. They also have tables outside with lights strung up and a retractable overhang in case it rains but the temperature is still pleasant. The music tends to vary and in that respect, I think they may still be trying to find their mood, but it is never to the point where it is anything jarring. They have a small TV inside that seems to be up to whoever is working's discretion. The bathrooms are small but clean just like the rest of this place which may just be because they are new but they seem to take pride in appearance. - Staff - Not much to say here except they put up with the fact I speak little to no Spanish. They are friendly and I can easily see this place accumulating dedicated regulars based on the attitude they give off. They are also very attentive but not to the point where you can't use this place as a great place to read if you want a little solo time. Other Things - They open early which means they have coffee and some breakfast pastry type items. - They are in a quiet part of Palermo SoHo - No English is really spoken here so pointing or broken Spanish might be your route if you are a tourist. - Yes they have a happy hour I think it runs until 8 or 9 Quibbles (Little issues not worth taking stars away for) - They give complimentary popcorn but it is almost consistently burnt for some reason. - While marketed as a Beer Bar they also went for Gastropub, in that respect, it would be nice to have a wine or two to give a wider set of options. - Ratchet the stall doors tighter? The gap gives a direct line of sight at the urinal and vice versa - This may seem impossible but I would love to see a Sour style beer here or one with a higher IBU count. This place is a true hidden gem that is well worth your time if you are in the area. Due to their vast open hours, you have plenty of opportunities to give this place a shot. The beers are always on point regardless of your style preference. The food is out of this world and definitely deserves high recognition when it comes to flavor and presentation (Hats off to the kitchen staff you guys nail it every time). So do yourself a favor and give this place a try and I promise you in some respect or another you will not be disappointed.

Food took over a hour and came out cold, not even room temp. The carrots in my friends salad were still half frozen!!!!! After sending our cold food back, it returned warm and forget-able. I understand being busy and under staffed, however this was not the issue. The lack of patrons should have been our first clue.

Taking over the spot that was El Tejano originally, if I understand things correctly, Ronald, who…read moreruns this place, was the chef for Larry, who owns El Tejano (now, as far as I know, only to be found at El Alamo's two bars... the original on Uruguay and a new one on Córdoba). He either bought the place out, or just took over the lease when El Tejano left. He's given it a slight Dutch twist, when it comes to some of his sauces and spicing, and adding in menu items like bitterballen. With three of us at the counter on Sunday afternoon (normally he only opens at night Tuesday-Saturday, but occasionally he's in the mood to open Sunday lunch, and posts it on his Instagram account), and a sampler platter for two on offer, we asked if he could up the sampler to a tabla for three, and he was happy to oblige. This is a whopping sampler of meat - especially for the easy price of 400 pesos/person, a mere $7.25. For that, each person gets a fried empanada filled with his smoked pulled pork held together with Indonesian spicy peanut sauce - yum! - a smoked chorizo - more yum! - smoked and barbecued bondiola, pork shoulder - oh come on now, how many times can I say yum! - and two smoked ribs smothered in your choice of spicy or not "Lekker sauce", which is a slightly fruity, spicy blend that's delicious, though we found the ribs themselves a bit dry. The two smoked meats in the middle are livened up even more by your choice of his own housemade spicy mustard (we all want bottles of the stuff), or his Mortal hot sauce, which is a jalapeño sauce with a kick and flavor similar to Sriracha. Although not on the day's menu, he brought us out a couple of extras to sample - some smoked lomito, pork loin, that he's experimenting with. We liked it a lot - he asked what we thought it might go with - my thought was a sandwich with smoked cheese and kimchi (he's a friend of, and proponent of, Kimchi Buenos Aires, who I buy kimchi from when I don't make it myself. (Delivered to your door usually next day, and very reasonable, with a choice of styles!) He also brought us some plain and spicy curry bitterballen - a new one for all of us - a sort of squishy meatball (basically ground meat mixed with bechamel and spices and then breaded and fried) - both, well, more yum! Overall assessment? Some of the best smoked meat in Buenos Aires right now. (Before someone asks, simpers, or protests - let's see, I'd go to Lekker for the empanada, chorizo, and/or bondiola, and to El Tejano for the brisket, ribs, and chicken. I haven't encountered anywhere else in town that tops either of them in the smoked meat world.)

The space feels big, but that's mostly because it's got triple or quadruple height ceilings…read more Overall, it's really not a very big space - there's probably only seating for about 30 people. Two waitresses are easily handling the whole room - then again, despite the "oh, you don't have a reservation, all I can offer you is the bar" routine at the beginning, it never gets more than about half full, and it's clear that most people walking in don't have reservations. I think they just sit solo diners at the bar, period. While I probably would have asked for the bar anyway, I hate that approach. I'm here for dumplings, and none of my local friends have joined me, despite a broadcast offer on Facebook and Twitter. Silly people. Going out dumpling diving with me is something you shouldn't miss. I order a gin and tonic and... umm... wow. That must be close to a liter sized cocktail, it's massive. I mean, it still probably has no more gin than a standard cocktail, there's a fair amount of ice, and a lot of tonic water, but hey, I won't be ordering a second one. It is good. I turn to the menu. It's clear my waitress is relatively new - she has no idea if they accept credit cards or not, and when it comes to ordering, even after repeating my order twice, I have to show her on the menu which things I want because she goes blank, and then she still manages to get two out of four wrong. They have an array of dumplings (all 170 pesos), from various cultures, and I order up a trio, letting them arrive in whatever order the kitchen wants to put them out. First up are the beef and nira (garlic chive) wontons, five of them, crispy fried. Great texture and flavor - the beef is flavored not only with the garlic chives, but with fermented black beans and green onions, a combination that really works. We're off to a good start, especially after I ask for and get some housemade hot sauce in front of me. I'd ordered the prawn, bok choy, and chili gyoza, but got the prawn and pork potstickers, which was immediately obvious from the browned bottom surface. First waitress error there. But they were good, actually very good, just not what I'd ordered. I thought about sending them back, but I'd already eaten one and I could always order more.... And the third round came with the pork and kimchi mandu. I mean, they don't really look like traditional mandu, but so be it, I've seen enough different styles that everyone has their own version. The kimchi could use a lot more punch in it, these are pretty mild. They're tasty, I just hoped for more of that tangy, spicy flavor inside. At least there's more kimchi flavor than the kimchi dumplings above. I debated at this point going back and ordering the gyoza that I'd wanted in the first place, or another - they have eleven different kinds of dumplings on the menu, so I've got a ways to go. But... ...I decide to go with the classic pork belly guabao to see how theirs stacks up against others that I've tried in town. Second waitress mistake, I get prawn guabao. This time, I send them back. I really want the pork belly ones. And, in short order, with apologies from the chef, I get the ones I ordered (I should have just ordered from him directly). Big plus, they steam the buns to order in a big steamer kettle, which is the way it ought to be - they come out light and fluffy, and... hot. Second, the pork belly is slow cooked, melt in your mouth, well spiced, thick slabs of the stuff, the way it should be, and then garnished with a tangy sweet housemade hoisin sauce, and pickled cucumbers. Add a dollop of hot sauce and these are really excellent, and so far above the ones I had at the place above it's like night and day. And, you get two of them for 180 pesos. Now we're talking. Overall - the space is fine, it's a bit industrial made over with Asian stuff, but that's to be expected. The music was a mix - in fact, kind of non-intrusive, and the overall volume level much lower, running about 68dB (like the sound of a shower running) pretty consistently. You could hold a conversation here, without having to lean in to hear what someone is saying to you. I can't say I was impressed with the service, it was friendly, just inept, but I'm chalking that up to a somewhat clueless waitress who was clearly new to the place. The other waitress seemed to be much more on top of things. The food? I liked it all. The dumplings were all well made and flavorful, and they were all cooked right, the same for the bao. The pricing is mixed - 170 pesos for 4-5 dumplings is a little stiff, but they're great quality and there's a lot of variety; on the other hand, 180 pesos for two excellent bao is a very fair price.
