If your idea of an enjoyable dining experience includes being rushed through a meal as fast as possible and a not so friendly waiter (George) this is the place for you. We were enjoying some warm bread when plates were being removed at lightening speed and then our appetizer arrived quickly followed within 2 minutes of our main meal. The bread is tasty but hold onto your plate and bread if you want some with your main meal. Dessert menus quickly thrown on table and when we told our waiter we were not going to have any he literally rolled his eyes, to the dismay of my entire family (it was that obvious) as we were out celebrating a birthday and a special bakery cake was already waiting at home. Scale of 1-10, food rates a 6.5. Although difficult to mix a bad cocktail where vodka is the main spirit they manage to in the Que Sera Sera. While I understand the fiscal business end of trying to satisfy as many customers as possible, it should be the ultimate goal of every restaurant to offer consistent quality food in a relaxing environment, served with sincerity through exceptional service. NOT let's serve them fast and get them out which was the overall feeling. To be fair, we had Saturday, 6pm dinner reservations. Just my opinion but here are a few customer tips they may benefit from: There is a rhythm to water and wine refills, the restaurant "team" should pay attention that they won't feel make customers feel rushed or intruded upon, Do not ask if someone is finished when others are still eating that course. I went to Francesca's Amici for my anniversary. I asked for decaffeinated coffee. After drinking two cups, my heart started racing. I realized the waiter had probably given me caffeinated coffee. It was very annoying. I have been caffeine free for four years and so that much caffeine made a difference when I tried to sleep that night. I was also disappointed by the lack of service.. We will not be going to Francesca's Amici any time soon! read more

Service was spotty and inattentive and our order was wrong. The server told us they didn't have something on the regular menu and then we saw many other orders of it coming out of the kitchen, after our food was served, so clearly they had it and our server was misinformed. Blegh. Gazpacho tasted like cold spaghetti sauce from a can. Waited over an hour for a togo order and when it appeared it was stone cold. Pizza was like eating day old breadsticks. Salad was good, but just baby arugula out of a bag with some slices of parmesan tossed in for good measure. Really disappointed based on others' reviews. Family was ravenous after traveling/fasting all day but we couldn't finish our small order. Won't be back. read more

A lovely francesca restaurant. The ambiance is nice....the lighting is perfect. One quibble I have is my pizza order being wrong. THey brought out the wrong pizza and then I had to wait forthe right one. However, when I got the right one, it was delicious. The calamari appetizer is good. I had been hearing about this place and was really disappointed. I had the mahi mahi with lobster cream sauce and extremely salty. I love salty food but this was not acceptable. My friend had the same dish and her dish was the same way. The risotto appitizer was not good either. The rice was bland and it wasn't cooked properly like risotto. It was more like watery rice. My husband's dish wasn't good either. It was the gnocchi with squash but tasted more like squash ravioli overly seasoned with cinnamon like spices. The decor at Framcesca's was nice, however the whole restaurant had an old dusty smell. The service was average, but they tried. The food was the issue last evening, it was just not good. There was way too much salt in everything, especially the risotto. The menu was limited and there was no beef entree. I have been to other restaurants in the chain and the food has always been just above average, but they make up for it in the service so it evens out. The Elmhurst location needs to improve the food and the service, and please get your airducts cleaned, the stale odor really brings down the whole experience. read more

I have been to many of the Francesca restaurants and they are always great. I have to say, this might be the best. I recently went for the first time to this Elmhurst location and it was fantastic. The Francesca's chain of restaurants has been a favorite location for major milestones in our life - anniversary dinners, celebrating pending baby's arrival, a child's birthday, a parent's birthday, etc. When we moved to Elmhurst we were glad to see Francesca's Amici in town... and though there were some mixed reviews in the early days (12 years ago), they have been nothing but excellent and consistent in quality and service for the last 10 years. We dine in and order takeout - the dine in menu changes daily but our favorites are the calamari, carpaccio, risotto of the day, the salmon over asparagus with avocado, the half roasted rosemary chicken, the rigatoni con pollo, and for dessert - gelato or profiteroles. The place is cozy, friendly, and we LOVE that they are now offering Glazed and Infused donuts in the morning (walk in and purchase only) as well. read more

Horrible experience from service to food for lunch. Not sure if affiliated with the location in Naperville but either way they are worlds apart. Food was described incorrectly on menu and got an eggplant sandwich described as a plate and it looked as poor as it tasted. Had to beg to put order in and server never stopped by table again. Actually took mis-delivered Pepsi out of desperation. Bus crew collect dishes so violently that they sprayed our table with olive oil from neighbors table and dumped all the excess food from my plate on table. Just awful. read more

My husband and I lived in Elmhurst for 27 years and once Francesca's opened we went there often. We are away during the winter season now and moved farther west to Wheaton last year. Two weeks ago we went back to enjoy a meal there. What a dis-appointment! We sat up front in the bar area; noisy before, now you can't even hear each other in a conversation...so they added entertainment! Felt rushed by the server and the food was so-so. Won't go back, at least to this location. They need to get back to great food, service and no entertainment in a tiled, all glass area. read more

I also wonder why this average restaurant gets such high ratings. When we go to other restaurants in the area we get better food, a larger menu offering, more value for the money and even the salad and soup come with the meal. And, then when you add in the loud ambience, the number of toddlers and children that sit at the bar coloring the latest contest, and the inconsistent host and hostess staff that see you one day and ignore you the next day - well, you wonder why the good staff still work there. But, the staff is why we go there. They are what keeps us and I suspect others coming back. read more

Wanted to leave a quick review for a job well done this weekend. I hosted a baby shower for 15 guests this weekend at Francesca's and it went great. First, the planning process with Nancy was easy and quick. They had many different meal plan options. Then the day of, they opened their doors early for some out of town guests and let us jam up their bar area for a while while we grabbed drinks and chatted. Everyone loved their food and I was served a separate plate that met my "food issue" requirements, which was delish.
