Came here today to look at furniture. There were lots of living room options (sectionals,…read morerecliners, traditional couches), bedroom furniture pieces, mattresses, and some kitchen tables and seating. Prices were reasonable and quality of items good. The woman working today, Angie, was very kind and helpful. She was doing her job and at the same time did not make me feel like she was a car salesman trying to swindle me or coax me into making a purchase. She seemed honest and trustworthy and genuinely helpful, which I very much appreciated, particularly after coming from Ashley Home Furniture nearby a few minutes before (in which case I felt like they were literally harassing me and following me around, bleh). Furniture can be purchased on site and you can use their mover if needed (for a fee). There are several financing options if that is needed, two you can complete on text and one in store on the computer. I think I will come back here when I am ready to make my furniture purchase(s).

So that made me wish I lived a little closer. When I entered I was immediately greeted and asked where I was from and that led to other conversations as she was familiar with my area. I was even given recommendations of places to stop and dine. I was not pressured to but anything but so much caught my eye. I saw new art every time I turned in the gallery. I did limit myself to just two items but I can see myself returning either this trip or on a future visit to the area.

The historic Cuploa Building (1916) was renovated to become the museum and it is ADA accessible from a side entrance that has an elevator. I liked the design of the museum but I thought there'd be more exhibits. The Deep-Sea exhibit is where I started and enjoyed that. Then I saw a fish tank without any fish. There were some reptiles too; a large children's area; hands on areas for children; taxidermy and some minerals. Admission is free.

We got to town mid afternoon and were afraid it might be closed. Luckily we found a parking spot near Bill's Hot Dogs within mere steps to the museum. It said due to the heavy rain the night before they experienced water damage and were closed for cleanup. I hope there's minimal to no damage to any precious artifacts. We did take a couple pictures of the lovely area and look forward to trying again.

If you enjoy shopping in locally owned boutiques, put Russell's at the top of your list…read more A girlfriend and I made the drive from New Bern to Little Washington and spent over an hour browsing here. The selection is beautifully curated, with high-quality clothing, accessories, and jewelry that you won't find everywhere else. While the prices reflect the quality, I firmly believe you get what you pay for. I came home with green Frances Valentine denim, blue-and-white Renuar seersucker pants, several tops, and a lightweight summer sweater. One of the highlights of the visit was the exceptional service from Rhonda, with help from Titi as well. They struck the perfect balance--giving us plenty of space to shop while offering thoughtful styling advice when we wanted it. What impressed me most was Rhonda's creativity. She encouraged me to try combinations I never would have considered on my own, including a bright floral orange top to pair with my seersucker pants. Sometimes the best boutique associates help you see possibilities beyond what's already in your comfort zone, and Rhonda definitely did that. The store itself is spacious, organized, and easy to shop. Men's clothing is in the front, women's in the back, and everything is displayed beautifully without feeling crowded or overwhelming. The Julie Voss jewelry collection alone is worth a visit--I could have easily spent much more time (and money!) there. The little touches also stood out: a clean, attractive restroom, friendly conversation, and even an offer of water or a soda before we headed back to New Bern. It's clear that customer service is a priority here. As an added bonus, Russell's is open on Mondays, which was greatly appreciated since many businesses in the area are closed. We had a fantastic experience and will absolutely make the trip back. Russell's was one of the highlights of our day in Little Washington.
