My sister got married in Southern California last year (hurray, huzzah, the most exciting thing ever to happen in my family!) and my wedding gift to the happy couple was to coordinate and pay for photography of their special day. I heard about Mindy through word-of-mouth and I liked the animal pictures she had on her website. I contacted her to ask if she photographed humans, and to my delight she was available for people pictures as well.
Mindy was very responsive during the pre-wedding process. There was a reasonable deposit, and she sent us three different surveys so that the brides could notate what kind of pictures they wanted. The surveys covered everything from which people or wedding events should be featured to the "tone" of the wedding pictures. I think my sister picked something really intangible like "magical" which made me roll my eyes and simultaneously worry that the pictures could never match her expectations. This was especially scary since I live in Oakland, CA and had to communicate with Mindy via telephone and email.
After what seemed like a millions stress-filled years (I'd only ever be maid of honor for anyone other than my dear sister, I swear to god) it was the wedding day! Mindy showed up at the wedding site bright and early. She met my sister in the salon and had a relaxing chat about her desires and expectations for the wedding look, while also taking pictures of the hair and makeup process. She took pictures of everyone getting ready in the hotel room, of everyone setting up at the ceremony site, the wedding, and the reception. She even took pictures of the reception site before anyone got there, which no one thought to ask for. It's a good idea- helps you remember how beautiful the tables looked before the guests messed them up. Throughout the nerve-racking day she was calm, warm and friendly- we all appreciated that very much. She backed off if there were frazzled nerves but snapped away if possible. We all enjoyed Mindy's presence at the wedding and were very happy with her professional yet cordial mien.
Then...we received the photos. OH MY GOD THEY WERE SO GOOD!!! Mindy exactly captured the "magical" tone my sister was looking for with her woodland ceremony. She used a variety of light settings and other photography stuff (I don't know, I'm not a photographer) to give us beautiful, ethereal and candid photos of the special day. I loved the photos so much I started crying when I saw them. She really captured the emotions of the day, and did so beautifully. I'm so happy to know that this special day in our family's history will be preserved in photos thanks to Mindy's talent and dedication.
I can't recommend Mindy and Foxy Pet Photos enough. She was an integral part of our family's special day, and I look forward to setting up a photography session for my dog the next time I'm in the Los Angeles area. Even my father, who has a "healthy sense of value" (read: he's a cheapskate) loved the photos so much he wants to hire Mindy to take a family portrait next year.
