Kayla went way above and beyond to help me get out of a horrible situation and into an apartment here at Fox Hill. I am forever grateful! I have been here for about 1.5 years now and I love it! Kayla really cares about this community and it shows! Shes made improvements to the dog park, community BBQ area, and hosts community get togethers. Its the people here that make Fox Hill so great! I have made several friends and truly enjoy living here. I cant go without giving a huge shout out to our maintenance guys! 1-Star Review - Fox Hill Apartments (Kayla & Management) I would give zero stars if I could. I originally left a positive review when we first moved in, but I've since removed it due to serious health and safety concerns. We were placed above a known chain-smoker and drug user, despite clearly communicating we have children and severe health sensitivities. It took months of complaints before they finally moved us, even though they knew how dangerous the situation was. We asked multiple times if there was any mold in the unit, and were told "no." In reality, they had painted over mold damage. We later discovered visible signs of water damage and mold under the kitchen sink and around the bathroom. I have mold allergies, and my children and even our dog became seriously sick after moving in. Now, Fox Hill Apartments is refusing to return our $2,700, even though we clearly explained our medical sensitivities and gave them every opportunity to make it right. They have shown no empathy--only interest in our money. This experience has been emotionally, physically, and financially devastating. I am currently pursuing legal action and filing complaints with the city and health department. Please stay far away from this property, especially the unit directly above the office on the top floor. Unless they've done heavy cosmetic cover-up again, you'll smell mold immediately. Don't be fooled by friendliness at the office; once you're in, it's a completely different story. Resident for over 2 years, have seen a near full turn over in the office that seems have turned this place around for the better. Kayla and Javier have both shown exceptional care and compassion throughout my interactions with them, and one truly gets the sense that they take pride in their work. I've seen much in my time here, but I feel the need to write a review because I plan on staying for much longer and such a lovely and welcoming community deserves to be recognized. Going on year 3 living at Fox Hill and it has been great. The few times I needed maintenance, they responded immediately. Office staff is friendly and often host community events. There have been many upgrades within the last year and the community is well taken care of. The pool is always sparkling clean and enjoyable. I've been living at Fox hill for the past year. My first day upon arrival, the staff welcomed me and made sure everything was settled nicely. They recommended places around town, commuting routes for work, and more. Our unit is affordable and meets my expectations for the rate. Any maintenance request is handled quickly and without bother. I often work from home and I do not have issues with noise or nuisance disrupting my working day. I like going to the pool during the summer! Pool is regularly cleaned in the morning. There is an Amazon hub which makes picking up packages stress free. In my experience, I've always received timely (and multiple!) notices regarding work on the buildings, replacement equipment installation times, overdue rent, etc. As long as you are paying attention to the emails and notices that they post then you won't have any issues either. I travel a lot and like that the location is closer to the interstate. The complex is pet friendly which is a plus - with a small dog park available (and a larger park on the same block). Grocery stores and pharmacy are close enough to walk to (15 min. walk for me). Buildings are on the older side, but you can move into an updated unit if you like. I recommend Fox Hill - i've lived at about 6 different apartment complexes during college and after. Fox Hill isn't the fanciest place in town, but I 100% believe that it is a great value. I don't have issues with bugs or mice. Noise level is the same in any apartment - sometimes you hear neighbors and mostly you don't. College town = college kids, so some nights are noisier but it's nothing that's out of the ordinary or unruly. Honest review, I like Fox Hill! read more

I have had so many problems with this utter h*ll hole I literally do not know where to start. Like many other Mines students, I don't need anything particularly fancy. Just a roof over my head while I work on my studies. At under $800 monthly for my share in a 2bd, my expectations weren't high to begin with. What I've experienced in my 10 months living here has been the catalyst for several mental health episodes due to the insane stress that this place has subjected me to. Where to start? I lived here for under a month when I started seeing brown water coming from the bathtub faucet. I don't know about you, but brown water just seems unsanitary. I brought this up to management and the problem persisted for months. I was initially told by management to be patient because they had trouble finding a plumber. Then I was told about a special part they needed to order (this is allegedly their favorite excuse according to posts in community groups). Months later, when the problem persisted and there was STILL brown water coming from my tap, I emailed management once again. Once I threatened to invoke my tenant rights, the manager (ex-manager* They've gone thru 3 different managers just in the 10 months I've lived here) Hailey was so extremely condescending to me that it actually brought me to tears! She told me in a phone call that I was exaggerating and that the water was perfectly safe, even though it was never tested for any harmful or metallic substances. I asked her if she would bathe in it and she said no, despite insisting that the water was perfectly safe and my concerns were unfounded. Whomp whomp. The current manager was very unprofessional when I approached her about a concern I had with my car being towed. The parking lots were getting re-paved and we were given notices to move our cars by a specific date and time to avoid being towed. Instead of doing the work on the lots that were stated on the document, the work started in overflow parking behind the building leading to my car being unfairly towed. I contested this $75 charge stating that the document was unclear and the charge is completely unfair. The manager was absolutely horrible to me in that office and raised her voice at me. She even implied that I was intimidating her even though I'm several inches shorter, several pounds lighter, and several decades younger than she. As a Black woman, I am constantly being faced with this flavor of microagression but to experience that from the people in charge of my housing felt completely surreal. A 6ft+ tall white male came in to the office immediately after me with the exact same concern, but the manager was able to put her customer service voice back on and kindly waive his fees for the mistake (which she admitted making, on camera). What a great coincidence that the white man with the large stature is not intimidating but the 5'2" 100lb Black girl inspires fear in the hearts of apartment managers everywhere. As for the last incident, this is what actually inspired me to make a yelp account leave this review. I live on the second floor and the unit above mine suffered a busted water tank (this was told to me by the maintenance worker). Whatever repair was done did not fully fix the problem, because I had toilet water leaking into my bathroom through the ceiling. It smells exactly like you think it would. I was pleasantly surprised with maintenance actually coming immediately to check out the leak. I was even more surprised when he had the tools to make the leak stop dripping into my bathroom! What I am not surprised by, though it does absolutely astound me, is the giant hole that was left in the ceiling (photo included). It's been 2 full days and my work order was marked as completed with no effort to do anything about the giant hole in the ceiling. Due to the placement of the hole being in the most humid room in the apartment, it's a complete breeding ground for mold. The rotten stench of mildew confirms this. I am asthmatic and have heightened sensitivity to mold spores. This is causing me to have physical respiratory symptoms which render me unable to live in the apartment that I pay for. Again, I am not surprised because this is pretty on-brand for the management company. I wouldn't recommend living in Fox hill at all, which is a shame because it's the only rent I can afford on my meager graduate student salary. It is my opinion that this company attracts vulnerable people with the low rent prices that don't have the resources or experience to advocate for themselves. Unfortunately for them, I do have the resources to exercise my tenant rights and will be writing complaints to the BBB as well as contacting local media outlets to further amplify the issues surrounding this apartment complex's management. read more

So, I tend to update my reviews, should I have any interaction after the fact with management, based on what I have shared here on Yelp. I find it interesting to mention, that I shared a poor (and honest) review about Fox Hill and mentioned that I had tried to reach out to management after receiving late fees that we wished to dispute according to the measures included in our lease and I received no feedback. In fact, rather than face the music, the management sent our bill directly to collections: the people in the Collections department were actually much better to work with than the people at Fox Hill (I know! I was shocked, too!). However, one year and 3 months after I wrote my first review, I receive notice through Yelp of a response from management here. Not to me, directly, of course. But simply a public comment to defray the many bad reviews they have been listed here. Because it's starting to look pretty bad for them, and rightly so. Just to be clear, again: Nobody ever reached out to me in person. And so the response they gave me is for the public eye, to sanitize their response and appear a little less grim to prospective renters. Now, let's be honest: the management at Fox Hill is turning over constantly. There were three property managers during the duration of our two year stay there. And the over-arching company (Monarch) is known for it's very bad dealings with renters. I imagine, they're not the best company to work for. I feel bad for the property managers who are forced to do the real dirty work that Monarch insists on. But every one has a choice as to whether or not they want to be THAT person. Don't be like the property managers at Fox Hill. And whatever you do, don't put yourself in the position of renting from a Monarch property. read more

Where, oh where, to begin. My partner and I moved into Fox Hill Apartments in October 2019, coming from Minnesota, absolutely stoked to start an amazing life in Colorado. Fox Hill looked like the most amazing place to begin. Butting right up to South Table Mountain, nice views of the foothills, and easy access to whatever we needed. THAT IS EXACTLY WHERE THE FUN STOPPED. We rented one of the units in building 4, on the South side of the building. Instead of telling a long story, let's just begin with the list of complaints after two years at Fox Hill. -In-building laundry is a joke. Most of the laundry units are not working, but who knows? No one puts notes on the washers when they're not working, so one goes to use them, and their clothes remain soaked and soapy. Building manager removes signs saying Out of Order, as my Ring camera caught. - Walls are paper thin. I MEAN PAPER THIN! You WILL hear your neighbor fart, sneeze, blow his nose, and verbally abuse his wife. He might even bang on the wall when you're laughing too loud. -The Dog Park should be named the Dog Bark. Morning, noon, and night- you will hear dogs barking, barking, barking. What's that? You wanted to keep your windows open? Nope- BARK, BARK, BARK. Want to have a phone conversation on the balcony? Nope- BARK, BARK, BARK. Want to go sit outside? Prepare to be accosted by BARK, BARK, BARK!!! For some reason, also, no one seems to let their dogs actually pee in the dog park, but OUTSIDE the dog park, so all of the grass is a disgusting yellow. - Speaking of windows open, you WILL want to get a fan. LOTS of them. The one sad air conditioner in the living room WILL NOT help you out in the summer, and be prepared to pay for EVERYONE'S heat in the winter- the gas bill is divided among residents, regardless of what you keep your apartment temp at. We also talked with some of folks on the second and third floors, and expressed before we moved that if we were to stay, we'd move up to the second or third floor on the West side, keep the windows and door open and enjoy the air- they laughed and said, only do that if you like the smell of dog shit wafting up from the dog park. Super stellar. - IF you try and keep your windows open, also, you'll get a nice breeze of cigarette smoke, as people just sit on their patios and balconies, or right outside the breezeway, and smoke cigarettes. I mean, there's an ash bucket right outside the building manager's unit. You might even be lucky enough to get some falling cigarette ash in your food, on the off chance you try and enjoy dinner on your patio/balcony. - On the Building managers topic, prepare for cattiness and rudeness at EVERY turn. I mean, EVERY turn. After living there for two years, there was at least three changeovers in the office, with no warning to the residents. Just walk in one day and there's new people, and no, they don't even bother to introduce themselves. In fact, one (Hillary) called me and my partner "Assholes" for doing our laundry at 6AM when she apparently wanted to, also. That was also caught on our Ring camera. The other one was bold enough to say, "Well, you shouldn't let people into your unit, then" when I expressed concern that a maintenance tech entered our unit during the height of COVID without a mask or anything on. Absolutely a treat to work with. We stopped bringing issues to them, as they were a nightmare. Aside from terribly-maintained grounds, downright rude management, overpriced rent, loud units with paper-thin walls, a pool that looks like it's out of a horror movie, laundry facilities that rarely work well, absolutely no communication with residents, and everything being chalked up to, "Well, it's an old building," This place is a little slice of heaven. On the very first day that I visited Golden, I had the pleasure of meeting Flor for a tour of the property. Her professional demeanor, charisma, and helpful spirit left a lasting impression to say the very least. Although I didn't ultimately end up becoming a member of the Fox Hill community, I enjoyed my experience and the introduction that she gave me to the area. Do not rent from Fox Hill Apartments! This place stole almost $400 from my boyfriend and I during the application process. They claimed my boyfriend had an eviction on his rental record, which was untrue, and said they were not allowed to show me any proof of this documentation. I applied and had to continuously call to get updated on the status of my app. for almost a week. I saw they had ran our records on September 8th and decided they were going to deny us, and then charged us $390 the next day! I understand that the application fees of $40 total were non refundable, but taking our $350 because of a false claim with no proof--unbelievable! I had to go through an entire process and call a lawyer, it was such a nightmare. Pick somewhere else, this company is stealing from hard-working people. read more

For the Mines student on a budget, I can't recommend Fox Hill enough. Cheapest apartment rent in Golden. PROS: cheaper than Summit View, super clean pool, laundry on site, friendly staff, on site 24 hour maintenance (if you report a problem, it'll be fixed the same day), right on the Golden bus lines (16, 16L, GS, pretty close to the call-n-ride at Golden High School) for those that don't want to blow money on gas and campus parking. Units are reasonably sized, and I've watched dozens of the units get new carpet/wood flooring over the three years I've been here. Lots of students around, and money off your rent if you refer a friend to living here! Membership to the Golden Community Rec Center down by Clear Creek is a serious plus, too. You can pay your rent online via credit card if you want to (small convenience fee)... nice when you're out of town or on the go. Did I mention they have coffee and cookies in the office for free? CONS: no fancy community center like Summit View has, but with the free membership to Golden's rec center, not really a biggie. The units are older, but with renovations, this isn't an issue either. My unit came with a brand new fridge and stove that both work great. I've watched Fox Hill get a serous face lift over the last three years. When I moved in, it was an odd time of year and FH luckily had a unit available - I moved in because I had to. There were weirdos around who weren't clean and caused bug problems, but FH has evicted all of those people for not complying with orders to clean up and get rid of the bugs (Fox Hill was very diligent with exterminators when this was a problem - in the problem/source units, and all surrounding units to protect their tenants). Haven't seen a bug in at least two years. The grounds are kept very clean, and the staff is putting some serious elbow grease into making all the units fresh and new as old tenants move out. I feel like Fox Hill has a bad rep, but it doesn't deserve it! They've really turned things around for the better. read more

I lived at Fox Hill Apartments for close to five years, and have had an overall good experience. Let's break down some pros and cons that I've seen: Pros: - Fantastic staff, both in the office and maintenance. They are among the friendliest people I've met. - Great location, near supermarkets and the Mines campus. - Great view of the Colorado front range. - All issues I've brought to management's attention were attended to promptly. - New laundry machines work very well. The previous ones broke very often, but that's in the past and the new machines are great. Cons: - Plumbing could use some work. Water temperatures and pressures fluctuate. - Single-pane windows make apartment kind of drafty, though I'd imagine most apartments have a similar issue. - Heat sometimes breaks during the winter. Maintenance will fix it promptly, but I generally have needed to put in about one work order per winter for heat. Noise: - I'm listing noise separately because whether it's a pro or a con depends entirely on who your neighbors are. I've had extremely quiet neighbors that I didn't hear a peep from, and have also had neighbors that apparently want me to enjoy their music as much as they do. Having said that, every apartment complex has loud and quiet tenants alike - so it ultimately comes down to the luck of who you get regardless of where you live. Overall I would recommend Fox Hill apartments. It has a few issues just like any other apartment complex does, but I'd say the pros outweigh the cons - especially with the fantastic staff they employ. read more

My roommates an I have LOVED living at Fox Hill! Definitely have recommended it and would highly recommend it to others. We have really loved it because: -The location is perfect, with South Table right behind us. -These are great people! Beth is always very professional, straightforward, and kind. Barb is awesome, she is always helpful and so fun to talk to, Miguel is the best maintenance man on planet earth, and this isn't even mentioning Aaron and all of the other staff! What's so great is that we know them and they know us. -Maintenance is fast, parking is not an issue, mail is easy. -Safety. Our last apartment home prior to Fox Hill was constantly being hit with stolen cars, break ins, and similar issues. I had my car radio stolen along with other things, and that was the second time someone had gotten in while my car was in the "protected" parking lot. Since moving to Fox Hill, we have felt safer and not had any issues! -The price of these apartments, especially for the location and value, is awesome. We can even afford the pet fee for our dog, and that has been great. The only negatives that I could even think of are not really Fox Hill's problem... Comcast had wires everywhere for months, and the RentCafe site is sometimes a pain to deal with. Overall- love this place and we will miss it! You should definitely move in. read more

Barb at the office is Fantastic .She processed my rental application in a very timely fashion The 2 bed 1 bath was in good repair except there was no heat turned on so I called maintenance and wow less than 30 min later heat was on and all was great .These apartments are very budget friendly Good bang for your buck . read more

Barb, Beth and staff have been expedient to accommodate all requests, efficiently and are quite pleasant. The residents are diverse and quiet, friendly and often helpful. Barking dogs are minimal and of short duration. You really can't beat it for the cost. Common gas boiler heats units and water, which saves on utilities. Elevators in a 3 story bldg. are a real plus too. read more
