A solid little B&B, bar, restaurant in remote Ennerdale Bridge. The business as I'm told is a project where the community came together to open and operate it. Hard to find employment in these small villages, and they need a place to socialize. So, serves (to my mind) as community watering hole/pub, a place to grab dinner, and probably most important as a place for weary Coast to Coast hikers stopping in on the long trek from as far as St. Bees on the coast (I was one of those).
My room was very comfortable, had decent wireless access, good showers and other amenities and made for a pleasant night's stay. Expect a big brass key that locks your door at night, not a piece of plastic to insert to gain entrance to your room.
Nice outdoor area in front of the building which is shielded from the sunlight fairly early in the afternoon. Made for a great place to sit and relax after a long day on the trial. Would not hesitate to return here for another stay. Oh, and the English ales on tap are fine. read more
