My adult children convinced me to get the tattoo I've always wanted. Just a simple seven word line on my wrist. After much research, we decided to go here. That morning I emailed J Green and asked for an appointment along with the words I wanted. From the moment we got there he was so helpful, particularly to and apprehensive 73 years old woman! He gave us an app to look at with over 300 styles of calligraphy. The entire process was indicative of his love of his art and care for his clients. It's now been two weeks and I seriously could not be more happy. I would go back there in a heartbeat and would highly recommend this to anyone. No matter whether it's your first tattoo or your 25th. Also, it's very hygienic and such a happy place... Smiles all around read more

Tattoo looks like a child drawing. Lines are so uneven. It's ridiculous, I wouldn't recommend going for a tattoo there. I'm so disappointed the way it turned out. Waste of money for sure. Now I have to find a new artist for a cover up. read more

Four Star Tattoo - Tattoo Near Me - Santa Fe, New Mexico

My husband and I got our first tattoos in December at the young ages of 54 and 67!! We weren't sure what to expect but it was fantastic. Bud Wizzo was our artist and he was excellent. He is highly skilled (friends of ours that have gotten tattoos for decades couldn't believe how good his work was) and he is also just a great guy. Fun to talk to, reassuring, nonjudgmental. We liked it so much we have been back to get several more in the last couple months. Couldn't recommend more highly!! read more

My first tattoo and I wanted it to be perfect. After a ton of research I chose Four Star. My artist was Jennalee and I absolutely overjoyed at the finished product. I designed it myself and Jennalee made it come to life. Highly recommend! read more

Three of us walked in on a Thursday evening wanting small tattoos. They took care of all of us! All 3 artists were kind, effecient and left us all quite happy with our new tattoos. We are not from NM- so we took a chance, are pleased and would return when back in the area. read more

Anybody not at Four Star Tattoo is asleep at the wheel! My fella and I walked in after going to Meow Wolf and it was instantly awesome. The artists are real craftspeople at work, and it's like watching chefs in the kitchen with how they flow. Just pick something, anything, and listen to their advice and the tattoo will come out better than it looked in your head. My husband and I were tattooed by Patrick and are thrilled with the results. Besides getting a new tattoo, half the fun is spending time in the shop! It's like a parlor with dope people hanging out and sharing fun stories. A refreshing note to my gal pals too: this is the type of studio that I'd feel totally comfortable getting tattooed on the more private areas as well, so if you want something on your jiggly parts go ahead and hang them thangs! Patrick and Cameron were the two artists in the shop when I was there, and they struck me as the type of dudes who protect the pit so the girls can slam dance and have fun too. (And a global shout out to these shred lords: we salute you!) Get off the internet and go get inked. I would volunteer to cage fight anyone who does not give this shop the LOVE & RESPECT it has earned. Just kidding, but seriously, as they say, "It's 5 stars at Four Star Tattoo!" Much love y'all! read more

It was my birthday yesterday yay. I called to see if I could do a walk in for two tattoos ( 2 stars) and was told it was first come first serve. I arrive and the artist takes 30 minutes to draw up the most simple design ever and takes 20 more minutes to set up. This was my first tattoo and i didn't even get to finish it because I was getting rushed by the artist he kept saying he had clients later so I left paying more than wat i thought I would be because I was never told about the sales tax. If you are getting tattooed by Caleb I'd recommend making an appointment because this was ridiculous. read more

Mark Vigil's tattoo work is nothing short of exceptional. Even twenty years after getting my tattoo, I still get stopped daily by people admiring the vibrant colors and asking who did the work. My husband and I spent the night in Santa Fe and we wanted a small tattoo that commemorates our children. We were on the plaza so went to the Lost Cowboy and they were opposite of the experience we had at Four Star. After our weird experience on the plaza we called Four Star and they professionally invited us in for a walk-in. Miguel, welcomed us with a great attitude, discussed what we wanted, gave us a price quote that we felt very comfortable with. He did some great work on our small tattoos, despite that they were small he made them meaningful and took us seriously. Thanks for tats and great atmosphere, Miguel read more

Absolutely the best tattoo artists in NM. I drove from Phoenix to get some work done by Scott. I had a piece from him already that is incredible. And now the rest of my arm matches. A true artist and not just a tracer. Do your self a favor, go here first and save your self the time and money of having to come back to Four Star to fix it. read more

Unhappy with the work for the money spent. Jennifer did the tattoo, the line work is crooked and uneven. She had a hard time with coming up with a concept for the tattoo. She walked away from tattooing me to help a walk in which took her 30 min. The tattoo is faded shortly after being done in November. Yes I could have called back to have it fixed but honestly after the job she did, I didn't trust her to ruin it more. The line work is a good indication that going back to have her fix it would be a huge mistake. Four star gave me a one star quality tattoo and now I have to pay over 600 to have it read more

My friend and I both had tattoos done by J.Green. It was a solid experience. The shop is clean, they charge enough to make you confident but not so much that it's absurd. J was calm, made good suggestions, and our tattoos look fantastic. (We had words put on the top of our feet, no small task). Plus, we had these done two months ago and everything healed up great. I would recommend this place, and specifically J, to anyone in the Santa Fe area. read more

I wanted to get a tattoo to commemorate my trip to NM (it's a long and personal story) so I decided to check out the sites on Yelp. After some research I chose Four Star, and am very glad I did. I contacted Mark, the owner, and arranged an appointment and sent him a deposit and a JPG of my proposed art. When I got to the shop he drew up and improved the design and got my approval for everything before he went to work. The end result is better than I imagined and I couldn't be happier. The shop is clean, spacious and bright, and the staff was friendly. Mark was especially helpful and prompt. All in all, it was the best tattoo experience I've had. They were also quite busy--it looks like the word has gotten out about their work and the art that I saw on people in the shop was very impressive. If you want ink and you're in the area, this is the place to go. read more

This was probably the best tattoo experience I've ever had. My friend and I walked in an hour before close, hopeful that they could fit me in. I wanted two small tattoos done on my hands, but you never know if there's time/artists available. They were able to get me in, to my relieved joy, and they quoted an outstanding price! As I sat and waited for my artist to be ready, I chatted with the other artist and assistant about life, tattoos, etc. They were very friendly, very talented people. When it was my turn up, my artist, Scott, took lots of time to draw, and place, my desired tattoo exactly perfect. It took very little time to do, but he was 100% dedicated. He's an amazingly smart, talented, and experienced guy. I highly recommend trying to snag him, but I think you'll be happy with anyone there. Seriously, go see them and let them help you get some beautiful body art that you can smile at for the rest of your life. Thank you, Scott. You made my day! read more

:: I've gotten four of my six tattoos does at Four Star, all by different artists. Two tattoos I came in with a phrase and a font choice, and the other two I had a design and they brought it to life. They're all wonderful at communicating the possibilities of a design and are excellent at carrying out concepts. They're easy to book with, the shop is clean and safe, and their prices are really fair. I already have ideas for my next piece! read more

I had a full back tattoo done by Mark (the owner) a couple months ago. It was a cover up and he did such an amazing job. He was very professional and worked with me on scheduling my appointments. My son's girlfriend and I wanted to get a tattoo during a weekend in Santa Fe. My best friend had recently passed away, and I wanted a tattoo to honor her. My son's girlfriend had a script she wanted tattooed, but didn't exactly know how she wanted it to look. We called Four Star and they happened to be quiet at that time, so we came in and discussed our needs. I wanted a raven's feather on my foot to remind me of my friend, and Jennifer created an amazing piece that I will always cherish. She also reworked a small tattoo on my hand that wasn't originally done well. Miguel worked with my son's girlfriend for quite a while to make sure that the verse she wanted was exactly the way she wanted it, and it turned out beautiful. The place was clean, the tattoo artists were friendly, professional and fun, and it was a great experience. read more

Got really, really put off by the overall rudeness of the man working there. Came in with two others asking about a Zia symbol for each and was told that it is way harder than people think to do. Apparently, Talisman didn't seem to think so and were very informative about prices and such while the man at Four Star basically told us to go somewhere else, because he wasn't going to do it. Not exactly sure why they have the repuation as a professional shop when they have rude, unhelpful and disrespectful people working there. Will not be recommending Four Star to anyone. read more

I waited until in my Forties to get something and have been SCARRED! I had a very large piece I had designed and asked if they where able to do it with fine lines, The guy said yes, he is an artist as I am. It took many trips because while paying by the hour he got up to answer the phone and answer questions to people walking in. After the last session we should have done the clean up session, I asked about all the skin showing through, I was told in front of the owner Mr. Vigil that in a year the ink would spread to fill in. I new this wasn't true but left any way. Then I noticed that I was scarred from the out lining, the out line was raised all over and there where dark spots . People have commented on my scaring and have ask who did this so they can avoid this place. Antonio Darden read more

The most FIERCE place to get tattooed in New Mexico. Keeping it real in Santa Fe for decades. Friendly service with great artists.

Best tattoo parlor in the city hands down. Thank Jay for my tats still getting compliments over here in San Francisco!

I am so happy with my experience at Four Star! I had a large piece on my right arm that was poorly done and unfinished. I had felt so deflated about it for so long but when I finally went in to talk to someone about fixing it, I was so happy and relieved. J Green was able to get me in quickly and he completely transformed my tattoo (that really did need a lot of work.) He was professional, friendly, and experienced. He worked for over 3 hours and I was surprised at how reasonable the price was. I will be going back to him for one more session do to shading and finishing touches. The shop was clean and well organized too! I would highly recommend Four Star. read more
