We attended uneventful there on a Friday night, closed to others. Staff was great and it was a super nice event. The food was catered in, I don't know if this was the doing of the founders or our by our event planner, but the food was crummy. I was told the eggrolls were the best and those were gone. so maybe the foundry could find a better caterer. the bar staff was great. my daughter (teen) was very particular about her shirley temples and the staff rumored her and her weird concoctions. overall i enjoyed the experience there. read more

We stopped here when we were in the area to utilize one of our Passport coupons and enjoyed the stop. We both loved the atmosphere and the friendly staff. The drink menu is abbreviated, but the main choices are there and the bartenders do an excellent job of creating drinks based on your tastes. He made a Limeade (see picture) for me and it was great. Stopped in here on a Saturday night around 6:30. Service was slow at the bar, very busy with only two bartenders (that's why they lost a star). Drinks were good! My husband got a coconut stout beer and an old fashioned. I got the twisted mojito which was very tasty. Atmosphere would be good for a big group, families, or watching sports games as they have huge TVs and bench seats. They did have food but we didn't try any. read more

What a fun and informative experience. We received a tour of the distillery and learned about the background history and how they make their various spirits. The tour also included "heavy" samples! I have lived in Phoenix, AZ for 50 years but I grew up in West Des Moines, Iowa and I'm back visiting- what changes! One is The Foundry Distillery. What a place! They distill many products from Ryes and Whiskys to Vodka. They will even distill your own mash bill! I had to sit down in the very comfortable tasting room and enjoy a flight. I remember a 10 year Corn Liquor that was pretty darn good and their 5 Grain Whisky. Some had the reflection of good Irish Whisky and while I'm a Kentucky Bourbon man, I quite enjoyed their distillates. There is also a Brewery! They have food and tours! Well worth a look into if you are in Iowa! read more

Came to the Foundry Distilling Company for an event where they had a whiskey tasting. This whiskey tasting was the 6 month barrel aged whiskey made from the wurt from Confluency Breweries Des Moines IPA beer. We walked in and the place was very nice inside. Very upscale with a rustic vibe. There is plenty of seating for you to come and grab a drink and enjoy with friends. Asking about the tour, they seemed a bit disorganized as far as where to meet and when, but we managed. We didn't get much of a tour, rather just the tasting. The whiskeys were very good. The foundry distilling is an immaculate decorated design. I really enjoy the overall look and feel of the place. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. All of their alcohol is good. They also have some non bourbon, whisky options too. read more

My husband had to stop on our way through Des Moines. He loved the idea of their partnerships with different Breweries. What a great place to stop and learn about their history and process. Staff was amazing and informative. We hope to stop by again on our way back home. read more

Fun place and great vibe! Very different type of place and wish there was someplace like this back home. Not your typical sports bar or restaurant. Community style dining tables and a great bar area. They have an app for The Hall and you place your order from one of the food trucks there that day. Watch the board for your name and when your meal is ready you go pick up your meal. The app comes with rewards ...great for locals! Then either before or after you eat grab a board game and stay a big longer!! During the week they have different events like bingo or trivia night. Fridays and Saturdays they have live music from 8 to 10pm. Night we were there there was a German truck, a pizza truck, ramen and an bbq truck too. The ramen was really good especially stir fried! Warning: don't forget to close our bar tab otherwise they'll tack on 25%. Oh mixed drinks are inexpensive...$12 for two mules!! read more

Went to buy a bottle of whiskey from them on 2 different occasions. Their website said they were open, but they were closed when I got there. It would be nice if they could keep their website hours current, especially during a pandemic when many businesses have changed their hours. I guess I learned a lesson, call first. read more
