I worked at Foundations for a very short period of time. During my time there, as an employee it was very difficult to do my job as a teacher. It was a very hostile environment. Very invasive as well. When originally applying I had applied for a certain position and was than given a different position. Which I had stated I did not have the training or enough experience for. And was than thrown to the wolves, receiving no help from management. It took weeks to finally go over orientation. Everyday there was a new rule that I was not aware of. And when told about a new rule " I didn't know and was now being told because I was unaware" when I should've known from the beginning. I was not allowed to do anything without them knowing. If I even blew my nose it was an issue. There was no confidentiality as an employee to an employer. Any discussion that took place was then discussed by the owner, assistant director, and a supervisor. Who would then discuss personal information among other staff. Including information about private family issues. Everyone talked about everyone including the owner. It was very isolated. The owner did not want employees mingling amongst each other. If you needed anytime off for doctor appointments, dentist appointments or last minute emergencies. They would tell you what days you could take off, rather then going by what days you needed off. Could only read the handbook in the office over your lunch break. Which was no where near enough time to go over the entire handbook. Not to mention I was not allowed to take it out the office. And was very hard to get a hold of when asked to take a look. I was not given an employee handbook to keep with me at all times. When I had any issues the owner was very dismissive, passive aggressive, unapproachable, uncaring , narcissistic, callous, insensitive, thoughtless, human being I've ever had to deal with as an employee. Unfortunately, counting down to my last days there I was integrated by the owner, and supervisor in an open meeting. Before being asked to leave, I wanted to share with them my experience here and how its impacted me. In which I was then laughed at and ridiculed for sharing how I felt. After going to retrieve my things to leave, I was followed by the owner. Who then started antagonizing me from the moment I left the meeting. Following me from the main office to my classroom door. After watching me retrieve my things she then went on to trying to block me from leaving. After threatening to call 911, she then preceded to get in my face, breathed in my mouth and touched her nose with mine. Resulting to my personal space being disrespected, which also resulted in a physical altercation. Extremely unprofessional. Not only did I feel humiliated, it was disappointing that I could not openly share my opinions without getting shut down. And that's how I felt every time I ever had a question, was confused, or needed help. After previously being told before starting how much of a hard place this was to work, now I understand why there is such a high turn over rate with there employees. No one should have to put up with this kind of animosity. This was a very disappointing experience. So much so, that it has affected my decision to never go back into working with child care. read more
