After a huge mess with a "very well known" San Diego gun store stripping a few threads mounting a brand new scope on a brand new rifle, Dave saved the day for me and the rest of my rifle hunting season. He took my rifle on short notice, properly mounted my scope and bore sighted. Dave took his time and put it on properly, which included lapping the rings, proper torque and ensuring everything was level. I will certainly be back with all of my guns from now on. No question, you deserve Dave's expertise and experience for your firearms. read more

Fouled Anchor Guns & Gunsmithing - Bergara B-14 Ridge & Leupold VX3i - Gunsmith Near Me - Durango, Colorado

Dave knows his stuff! I'm pretty gun savvy, but I've attempted to install the Juggernaut Hellfighter on my LWRC twice but with no luck. So I needed help. Just recently moved to SD and needed to find a gunsmith closer to home. Sent him a message through Yelp and got a reply within 30 mins. Got a quote and made an appointment to drop it and get it repaired. Dave explained the issues and his recommendations. To make this long review short, Dave delivered what he said he would do. And my AR is now CA compliant. Yay! I would highly recommend Dave's work. Very knowledgeable, helpful, and great communion. Thanks! read more

Dave is the man. I had problems with both of my handguns jamming so I reached out to him and he was very quick in getting back to me. He tried to assist me in troubleshooting through messaging, and he was fairly certain it was an ammo issue. I was still concerned though and asked him if I could bring them in and inspect them, with normal rates for his time. He let me come by the next time he was open and he thoroughly inspected them to confirm it was what he originally thought. He is down to earth, friendly, and very good at what he does. I plan to get some work done by him in the future and would hands down recommend him to all. read more

I had never been inside of a weapons shop before, so I was a little nervous about my first experience. Upon walking in, the individuals were extremely friendly and open to answer any questions I had. I felt comfortable enough to explain that I was brand new to this hobby, without being lied to and taken advantage of. I recently moved to Durango from another state, so I asked what was needed for me to legally purchase a rifle from them. They explained exactly what was needed, where to go, and how to get it. I'd absolutely recommend this place for regular and new gun owners. After reading reviews I learned that it's a locally owned business, ran by the owner Dave himself as well as his wife. Local, veteran owned business with honest prices. How could you beat that? read more

Dave is a great gunsmith. We had a problem with our brand new Maverick shotgun and he quickly and efficiently diagnosed the problem and fixed it. He is a honest and reputable gunsmith. I would strongly recommend him to anyone. read more

I liked David. Nice, prompt and fairly priced. He was knowledgeable about my requests. I'd revisit should the need rise again.

Have dropped by to see Dave on a two occasions. Dave is an awesome guy, very knowledgeable and fun to talk to. I had a new trigger installed, and there were some minor issues with my rifle. Dave took his time and diagnosed the issue and worked through the problem until it was correct. Absolutely fair pricing and I came back again today to have him level my scope to my rifle and again he did an awesome job. I have never met Dave before yesterday, but I will say he knows what he's doing and I highly recommend Fouled Anchor Gunsmith. Thanks for the solid service. read more

Dave was absolutely cool start to finish on a real pain in the ass, cheap shotgun that I brought him. I gave him a near impossible task, and he met the challenge head on with no complaints, excuses, or criticism. He managed to make the modifications I asked for and got it back to me next day at a more than fair price, considering everything he had to go through (and a broken screw driver) to get it done to my satisfaction. He's meticulous in his attention to detail and his straight forward, no jargon, plain English step by step explanation of the process was greatly appreciated. Long story short(er), I won't be taking my guns to anyone but Dave from here on out. Thank you, sir! read more

I had reached out to Dave via email from the website. He had responded to me the next morning. I lacked the tools and resources to do what I had to on my firearm. I decided to quickly head over to Dave's. Please be mindful, this is a private residence and is inside the garage, so be respectful of the property. Dave was already working on someone else's weapon until I showed up, but he immediately got to mine and it only took 30min. I'm impressed with his work and the turn around time. He's very respectful, and has extensive experience in his trade. If you need work done on your firearms, this is the place to go. Price was very competitive considering the turn around time. I will now go to Dave for any Gunsmithing needs. Best of Luck to your business Dave! read more

I made a rookie mistake re-assembling my shotgun resulting in a jam I couldn't clear. Dave had it operational and good as new in a matter of minutes for a Unbeatable price. I can't recommend this place enough. The associate I spoke with was able to diagnose the problem with our particular gun over the phone in less the 5 minutes. Seriously amazing. read more

Dave took my guns listen to all my concerns and answered all my questions. Completely broke the guns down, inspected, cleaned, lubricated, and reassemble them. Took them to the range to make sure that they were functioning properly and measured weight of triggers. He adjusted sights where needed and made sure the guns were operating as new. Very friendly service. Answered all questions and quick turn around time. He did all this work for a very low price. He also kept in touch along the process to keep me in the loop. I will definitely return and refer others to this gunsmith. read more

What can I say? Dave was very responsive and professional from start to finish. I had him do some work on my dad's 20+ year old einfield rifle, and he definitely over delivered on every aspect. Haven't got to the range yet but everything seems put together very well! Highly recommend and veteran owned which is a plus.

Awesome down to earth dude. Was very easy to communicate with him and he was very helpful. He offered some advice on some tools I should get if I wanted to work on my own stuff. He was able to help with my small problem very quickly. Cool gun bro without the elitist attitude. I will be coming here for my future gunsmithing needs. read more

Why would you go anywhere else for your Gunsmithing needs? Dave is a veteran . God bless our veterans. But really he earns your business by doing a great job restoring or fixing your guns. Great communication skills . My shotgun never looked so good after I picked it up from Dave. Went over the maintenance and care so it will stay that way. read more

Awesome guy, helped me understand the repairs I needed which unfortunately meant shipping back to the manufacturer but very helpful

I was looking to have a barrel threaded for a muzzle brake. I found Fouled Anchor on Yelp and decided to give them a call. Dave was very polite, informative and accommodating. I dropped off the barrel and asked if it would be done by a certain date. Dave listened to all of my questions and promised to do his best to have it ready by the requested date. Dave called me a day early and moved his schedule to accommodate mine. The craftsmanship was better than I expected. Dave took extra time to go over any details that may help me with attaching the brake. It is clear that Dave really enjoys and takes pride in his work. It is refreshing to see a small business owner that is more concerned with quality and service, than trying to turn a buck. I will be coming back and referring all of my friends to Fouled Anchor Gunsmithing. read more

Mr Rosenfield deserves a Nobel Peace Prize for the work he did to my firearm. He was very reliable and basically saved my gun from the trash heap. I highly recommend his services read more

I was referred to Dave to mount my new Vortex scope on my Ruger 1. He did the research on the best mount rail for the scope and gun and gave me the option to choose. He also refinished the stock and looks like it came out of the factory. Excellent attention to detail, great workmanship and very reasonable pricing. Kept me in the loop on his progress all the way through the job. I will be bringing all of my gunsmithing to Fouled Anchor and have recommended him to others already. Also bore sighted it to 100 yards. Great job!! read more

I wanted to have my fathers Army issue Colt .45 cleaned so I started searching for a gunsmith I could trust. Luckily I found Fouled Anchor. Dave and his wife were both vey accommodating. This is a professionally run operation from his home garage. I really like that this is not a joint operation with a gun range and just focuses on gunsmithing. Dave is very generous with his time and answered all my questions about his detailed inspection report. Prices were very reasonable plus a military discount. It was a bit of a drive but worth it. Highly recommended! read more

Dave is very professional and extremely knowledgeable. I highly recommend him for all of your gunsmith needs. Fairly priced, fast lead times and he's a 20 year Navy Veteran. Thank you brother! read more

This review was a long time coming! I was supposed to post this review last November 25 but got caught up with other unfinished business so here we go. I brought my new M1A rifle to Dave for a Bi-pod installation and Scope mount. Being clueless on gun Dave did the job handily and quickly without abusing my being a novice gun owner. He is a very nice guy to deal with and by the way, had also made some minor adjustments on my S&W 22LR for a nominal fee. Thanks, Dave, I know where to go next time for my firearms needs. The guy is a pro and will not take advantage of people like me who have limited knowledge of firearms. read more

Excellent service, honest and great pricing, great to know I now have a gunsmith I trust.

This guy (Dave) is top rate. I met with him twice and both times he took care of my firearm's issue w/o any difficulty. He is also an easy guy to speak to and his rates are just fine. As with the other reviewers, I recommend Fouled Anchor Gunsmithing 100%! read more

I called Dave to have him install a drop in trigger in a Kimber 1911 since the safety wasn't allowing it to function properly (DIY) so decided to take it to a professional & didn't want it turning full auto on me. Fouled Anchor did an excellent job & went above and beyond my expectations. Price & turn around time very competitive with other local shops. Definitely recommend Fouled Anchor. read more

First, Dave and his wife are very welcoming! I brought in an old military dragoon rifle from WWI and Dave was very knowledgeable about it. I actually did not know what it was or what to purchase as far as ammunition. He cleaned it and made sure it could fire. Even offered to restore it if I was interested. His rates are very reasonable and he guarantees his work. I was very happy with his service! read more
