Guests are treated with dignity and respect unmatched by any place I have attended before. The music embodies the excitement these people show for their love for God. Visiting here in the worst time of my life was such a blessing. Everyone cared for me in such a loving way. I didn't care for the worship service looking like a concert with the flashing lights and fog- too much. Sermons were "okay." Super basic. I didn't care for going one week to sit and watch a non Christian based movie and tried to relate it to Christianity. I did not like the teenagers walking up and down the isles constantly during services with no regulation- which was distracting and annoying. I also would go by myself and was difficult to find someone who was willing to let me sit next to them. There was an open row of six and I asked a woman if I could sit with her; she said no her family of six was coming at some point. I told her I didn't have anyone to sit with but okay, everyone around me heard as they stared but didn't say a thing.. Also, why does the church not do community service work? They talked about only serving those in the community who were already Christian, but why are we not outreaching to non believers? Even if it's just to serve, not to "bring more people into the church." I just don't feel like it was a true deep Christian church where one could grow. Too big. Invests only in themselves and not community. Like why have a whole sermon asking the members of the church to "sacrifice" ourselves by asking us to raise over a million dollars to get the church a new roof. Why did the church continue its sermon to "sacrifice" (their words) more money when the random guy interrupted and stood up during the service saying he was rich and would be able to cover the churches roof? It's all things like that, that make non believers wanna stay non believers. Just wasn't a place for me.

I asked if the elders had a chance to discuss the possibility of me giving a talk and was told "I gave them the information, so if they didn't call you back....well" and that was the extent of it. I said thank you and she hung up without even a good bye, thanks for calling. nothing! If this is how they treat someone on the phone, then I will not give the service a chance. It breaks my heart that a church would be so cold to someone who is trying to make the world a better place.

I first went there about 5 months after they started the church in that location. Previously it was an elementary school. My daughters have volunteered there. I eventually attended a membership class and got baptized there. Did the requirements to become a member, but it seems like you have to jump through a lot of hoops. I still have never been asked to join after meeting all of the requirements, except attending small groups on a regular basis. Yes, they are a church that pushes that concept. The church has a great message every week. Also an amazing band that plays a variety of music. The people that attend are nice, but I find the same ones introducing themselves every few weeks. I have met ALL of the pastors and deacons. Yet they walk by and never call me by name. That is the part that disappoints me the most. Also the fact that when I did my membership interview, the fact that I was asked if I tithed as a regular attendee. I want to really like this church, but something is missing here.

The bells ringing were beautiful to hear in such an urban setting downtown. The ceiling is beautiful and reminds you of the heavenly setting of the liturgy and the blue of Our Lady. Highly recommend stopping in to pray the rosary in honor of Our Lady and to be raised to God for a moment.

What's amazing though is that even in growth, the "family" feeling has not been lost. In addition, new people are welcomed quite quickly. Everyone is encouraged to serve. It is very traditional, the pastor teaches out of the KJV. One of my favorite things is that he's always willing to answer questions. Additionally, there's a wide range of ages there. We have members in their 70ties and members in their 20ties. The youth programs are phenomenal. I believe the reason it works so well is because people are passionate about the ministries in which they serve. It's HARD to find a church that preaches the gospel, that treats everyone like family, and that isn't "stuffy". I feel blessed to have found this church.

The friars and some trail stewards keep up over 400 acres of trails for walking/hiking and a lake with a fishing club membership. There are multiple trails, including a zen garden, lake and stations of the cross trails. In addition to the beautiful outdoors, they celebrate other forms of art (pre-COVID) including Exhibits, Artist's Retreats, Quilting groups and Music at The Mount concerts. They will occasionally have fish frys and other food-related events.
