Europe's biggest shopping centre? I thought it would be bigger…read more.. As large as this is, there is relatively little to say about this place. Situated in Oberhausen, only a few minutes with the tram or bus from the city centre, definitely easy to reach, even if you're traveling without a car. The shops are 95% clothing and shoe shops, with some other stores thrown in the mix as well. There are also some football club shops (BVB, S04, Bayern München) and a food court, and that is basically it... The food court (Coca Cola Oase) is quite decent, with about 20 different "restaurants" to chose from and a massive seating area in the middle. Bottom line: * A looooot of shops... * ...but most of them (merely) clothes or shoes. * Fantastic food court * Plenty of discount / sale in the stores * If you want to go shopping for clothes, this is your place to be!

Okay, it's a German shopping centre, but it is still a shopping centre, and I have to admit that I tend to get sick of looking around them after, well, a few seconds after stepping in through the doors. However, I had caught the u-Bahn from the station to here, namely to catch the U-bahn in Essen, only to find myself here so I decided that it would be a good idea to look around. The one interesting thing that I did notice though was that they happened to have a vending machine for wine, which is something that I would have expected to find in France.

Try to opt for pizza or something you know it must be made that day; I had a shake that made me ill and I was sorry I had that curiosity. Regarding stores themselves; again, standard - like everywhere else in the world. It is good to be able to go to a place and find what you need. Also, it would be nice for some big stores like Saturn to accept credit cards. Am I supposed to pay cash for a washing machine, plus wait 2 months for delivery? Ridiculous.

Dazu kommen 9 Gastronomiebetriebe (Viel zu viele für diese Fläche). Auf Grund der Konzert- und Veranstaltungshalle Mercatorhalle und dem Casino 3 Sterne. Als Einkaufszentrum jedoch nicht empfehlenswert.
