One of my "old school" habits is to buy a hard copy of the local newspaper and read up on local matters. The Forum also has online presence, but there's nothing better than the feel of newspaper between my fingers.
The Forum building (Downtown) is also cool to look like it, which appears to be fully used through a publishing empire that apparently includes other local North Dakota newspapers and some radio stations. There's also an agreement with Gannet somewhere in there as there was usually a USA Today insert within the daily paper. Gayle remembers Forum's presence and support for student Journalism at Morehead State, where she previously graduated in Communications. As we wandered through the halls of her Alma Mater, the Forum's influence appears to be alive and well.
As for the paper itself, my only complaint is the number of advertising inserts. Within the various sections, there was a comprehensive variety of local news, and not so many wire service stories. I like that. There was even an announcement marking Gayle's Aunt's 90th Birthday. All it all, the Forum was a great local read for during the 4 days that we spent in Fargo. read more
