The owners were so sweet and gracious! We spent the first night in the downstairs master. The bed was huge and comfy! I was thrilled to see that the ac in the house was powered by window ac units! I could die, I love love love Window units! I always sleep so well in rooms that have them. The room was clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. On our second night we moved to a room upstairs, this room was considerably smaller but still really comfortable and nice. We had a great nights sleep, and we awoke to a amazing breakfast! They served us coffee, juice, a beautiful fruit bowl and eggs Benedict. Now, y'all know I am picky about my eggs! These eggs were poached to perfection. Breakfast service was elegant and a feast for our taste buds. One of the owners gave us a detailed history of the area and of the house while we ate our beautiful breakfast. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Angel Rose , we will visit again soon. As of now, they are making plans to continue the restoration and to make several upgrades. They are in talks to add an elevator, two extra suites and a sunroom. Upon arrival we asked about any ghost or haunting stories, the owner informed us they may or may not have a friendly ghost! I am happy to report that not only did we not see any ghost, but we also did not experience any paranormal activity! Enjoy your stay and enjoy the surrounding amenities in Rockport!

. I was checking via…read moreanother site to begin planning a trip for Fall '24 and came upon misguided negative reviews. We are thoroughly familiar with this area, just got back from a Family funeral @ Robstown 2 days ago. For background: This is not IN Corpus; it is b/t the tiny Bluntzer & Sandia communities, it is out-of-the-way, not isolated. The lodgings are in the old dairy facilities, from when this was a working dairy. Lodging is rustic but comfortable; with A/C, full bathrooms, etc. The grounds are a great example of Texan "Chaparral", where the coastal bend plains meet the low rolling hills of mid-South Texas. It is like a nature preserve. Think mesquite, live oaks, & huisache. I cannot imagine Beth being deceptive with her guests; this place is her life's work and shows it. Some pointers: If seeking the beach by auto, one must cross over onto the Island (Mustang/North Padre/Padre) via the JFK Causeway or the Port Aransas Ferry. This is about an hour or more from the B&B. Larger grocery stores are in Calallen/Annaville, C.C., or Robstown. There are few good restaurants nearer than 30". The major tourist attractions involve drives of 30" to 60", don't be afraid to drive. I intend to visit this Fall for second or third season doves. Some activities are expensive by nature, but are great overall values. This place is an absolute JEWEL of South Texas nature. Rick .

The hotel advertises that it serves breakfast, but don't be fooled. This is not a continental breakfast by any stretch. For a group of four, we were given a total of six possible items to choose from--including drinks. The "menu" consisted of a croissant, a muffin, a breakfast bar, juice, or water. That's it. One person would have to choose between having a drink or a very lackluster snack--not both. The pool is listed as an amenity, yet it was completely shut down and coated in green algae. When we arrived at our room, we noticed a row of random office-style chairs lined up outside in the main walkway, directly beneath a "No Smoking" sign. Below them sat three ashtray cups. Nearby was a man wearing an oversized black shirt, oversized shorts, sunglasses, and a crossbody fanny pack. He stared at us in a way that felt uncomfortable and unsafe. He wandered around the property, and we eventually realized he worked there. His appearance and suspicious behavior did not resemble hotel staff in any professional sense, and the overall vibe was unsettling. Opening the door to our room was the final straw. The overwhelming smell of mold, mildew, and cigarettes hit us instantly--so strong we could barely breathe. Nothing in the reviews or advertisements prepared us for this. Even the shower was coated in dark grime, clearly not cleaned or disinfected for quite some time. The sheets were dirty, walls were dirty, sink was dirty. Just so unsanitary. It made my skin crawl and you can't even breathe the air in the room. When we stepped back outside, the front desk attendant was right there, chain-smoking one cigarette after another. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. This place is nothing like what it claims to be. I don't understand how this place has such great reviews. This is the biggest catfish I've ever experienced. Someone must be buying people off.

The building itself is right out of a Jane Austen novel, from the wrap-around porch to the white picket fence, with each of the rooms individually and tastefully decorated by Anne herself. Just stepping through the doorway is a million miles away from San Diego and a decadent escape for anyone for an hour, a girls' night out, an awards' ceremony, or a romantic weekend. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. You'll feel like you just got home and just went on vacation all at the same time. Congratulations on your grand opening, Anne & company! But Ann appears to be in need of help. A good maid and part-time cook would serve her well. Here is what we found: dirty floors and rugs, dust bunnies under the bathroom cabinets, broken A/C (on a 100 degree day), "amenities" that consisted of items left behind by previous visitors (shampoo, body wash, etc.). There was more, but suffice it to say it was disappointing. I hope she can find it in her to hire a couple of part time people, or perhaps a B&B manager because the Bluebonnet has great potential.

We called the office and they said we needed to go back down and have the key cards reprogrammed. My husband went down, came back, it still didn't work. We called again and were told that the lock probably needed a new battery. We had planned on resting from our 3 hour drive and then getting in the pool. We didn't end up making it to the pool until after 8pm because we had to wait for them to come change the battery. Tested the card, it worked. Coming back from the pool, we're stuck outside our room at 10 o'clock at night because the key card again doesn't work. We called the office AGAIN and they say they will have to replace the whole lock. We were up until just after 12:30 am with our room door open and the maintenance guy trying to get the lock replaced. This morning, Saturday as we're leaving to go to the beach, my husband closes the door and the door handle comes off the door in his hand. He sticks it back on and we called AGAIN. We're told they will send someone to fix it. I called in the evening to check the status and I'm told they fixed the handle but the card is still not 100% working. They tell me once we get back from the beach, stop by the office for new key cards and so the maintenance man can meet us and show us " the trick" to getting into our room. Apparently they lock they replaced it with wasn't new. It was just another lock. (That still didn't work) I know things happen sometimes and we try to give grace but this was too much and seriously unacceptable. I asked if we could have late check out of noon at least for our unending inconveniences, they offered to let us have till 2. That doesn't really help us once we're ready to go home. My husband asked about a possible partial refund and was told they would refund us if we left. That was per the manager. This experience has been extremely disappointing. They management here didn't show a bit of empathy for the unsatisfactory service we've received. I will say that the woman at the office was apologetic. That's not enough for us to be back. If you're planning on coming here in the next few weeks, don't let them give you room 209,there are also little black bugs in the room.

After almost 30 years in the military, traveling all over the world, today I had the worst hotel…read morecheckin experience of my life at this establishment, The Island Hotel Port Aransas. The biggest problem here is that not a single person at this establishment takes ownership for problems. First, their official website says checkin is at the traditional 3pm. Checkin is actually not until 4pm which the manager or owner tries to highlight when I point out that I couldn't checkin for almost 5 hours. Problem #1, this establishment needs to correct their official website. Second, I arrive at 5:40pm and I am not allowed to checkin. According to the front desk two cleaners did not show up to work. The front desk says "It's not my fault", as if the hotel staff is not part of the establishment. She suggests I go wait at a bar. She takes my name & number and says she will call as soon as my room is ready. Spoiler: she never calls. Because of this I am not able to use the pool before sunset. Problem #2, this establishment needs to hire reliable staff (e.g., cleaners that will show up to work and a front desk that will pass down information to incoming staff or hotel guests). Third, I arrive a second time at 7:41PM. I see guests checked in leaving with hotel keys. I asked the front desk why was I not called. The front desk says she did not know she was supposed to that it's not her fault. I look around the desk and I see the note indicating to call me. She sees that I see it and she says, "I know, I just saw it now." No room is available despite the fact that I paid a month in advance and other guests that arrived after me were permitted to check in. The new front desk was panicking, unable to help guests and lashing out. The front desk calls the hotel owner or manager who was also unprofessional. The owner or manager did not take accountability, tried to redirect to a 3pm vs 4pm checkin, threatened to cancel the paid reservation, etc., etc. She asked what do I want? I want to check in! Problem #3, the owner or manager herself is the problem, she makes excuses for the lousy staff and does not take ownership for the company they represent. The new front desk staff needs more training or should be fired as she cannot professionally interact with customers. (The job is not that high pressure.) Fourth, after 20 minutes I am finally checked in and given hotel keys. The hotel keys do not work! I cannot get into the room. Staff from a different hotel was called in and came and gave me a key fob with instructions not lose it as it is there last one. Their machine to program hotel keys did not work and they were trying to fix. Problem #4, this establishment needs new key card hardware or software (if it was not user error). The hotel room was nice, clean, spacious, with a cold A/C. There was a little musty or moldy smell...may be. The checkin experience was so bad that it doesn't change the rating.
