Libraries now are so much more than books! The library does have a great selection of books, magazines and media such as DVDs. There are areas for quite reading, meetings and computer stations. Its website is awesome with links to Gale Courses, software, community events, genealogy and more. The library is also host to many events such as family movie night, Write night and board game days. Library events are free to the public. Community events are also available at the library including meetings for the Genealogical Society, yoga classes, performing arts and more! The library also has great children's programs, a butterfly garden, and is part of a solar energy project.

The Library's collection of over 120,000 items is supplemented by an additional three million library holdings of other members of the South Central Library System, including Madison Public Library. South Central Library System holdings may be reserved on the Library's on-line catalog. The Library also provides significant on-line resources, including ebooks, magazine collections, car repair manuals and language instruction. McMillan is the municipal library for City of Wisconsin Rapids, which provides the bulk of its funding. The Library serves all residents of Wood County and significant funding is provided by Wood County. Wireless Internet access is provided throughout the Library, as is wireless printing. Internet access is also available on twenty-six PCs. These stations have word processing/MS Office and color printing available. The McMillan Coffeehouse is currently closed. Food, conversation and informal gatherings are encouraged in the Library Commons. The Library's Adult Concert Series, Library Commons and browser oriented collection are in keeping with the public library's oldest traditions, but also in the forefront of progressive librarianship. The Youth Services area was extensively remodeled in 2014, including a new Children's Garden.

Rabbit Rock Park - Lots of routes to the top of rabbit rock

What a great park right off Hwy 13. You could easily pass this while driving on Hwy 13 though. Look…read morefor the sign and small parking lot. It's definitely worth the stop. There's lot of little routes to the top; some a little more adventurous than others; depending on your courage and activity level. The jutting rocks form a rabbit at the top. Some others have decided to decorate the rocks with other art too. There were lots of kids venturing around the formation peeking in to the cracks and hearing their voices echo in the caverns. There's lot of trees lining the rock trails to help you maneuver around. The weather was great for a hike to the top. Watch for leaves and pine needles, as these make the trails a little slick. This would be a great lookout place for sunsets and a picnic. There are tables at the parking lot area. I didn't see any bathrooms though. I don't think you need a park pass to use this park either. This was a perfect way to spend an hour! But the wayside is NOT open year round it's closed during the winter months. From the top of the rock you can see for mile including view of Roche-A-Cri Mound in the state park. It's about 60 feet high to the top.
