The reference artwork that THEY chose
    Zion L.

Avoid this couple at all cost, unless you want a Temu tattoo. I visited Atlanta and got a tattoo done, after running into their special ad on Instagram (I think it was like $400-500 for 5 hours). I can immediately tell they were trying to finesse me into doing multiple sessions, by counter-offering tattoo ideas and images over the ones I actually requested and sent. "How about this design? It will only take two sessions" me, Thinking the artist might have had more wisdom and experience in tattoos than me, (he kept saying he has 12 years experience) I went along with one of their ideas and yo! - it came out to be a complete disaster! The final result came out looking nothing like the reference photo, that they picked! Also, it came out warped, stretched out of its original shape, it was supposed to be a circle sun disk, but it came out oval or egg shaped. On the side of my neck!!! Just no...Just wasn't a great experience. Here's the worst part. After a day or two, I reached back out to let them know that I wasn't satisfied with the artists work, that i felt like he could've done 100% better and they immediately started blaming me, and suggesting I book another session with them to fix it! It gets worse. I asked if they had any refund or discount policy since the artist completely botched the tattoo design, and they start accusing me of not being able to afford their full price for another session. Now, in my mind, I'm asking, if I can't trust you with $400-$500, what makes you think I would trust you with more?? this leads me to another issue I had with this artist. He doesn't have a shop, you will be invited to their home. Didn't know this until I arrived. 1) They did not accept debit or credit cards. So I had to go out of my way to get cash off my credit card onto gift cards just to give them my business, (and just for them to fumble it) then 2) when I arrived, ole buddy started acting as if he didn't know that his stencil printer was broke. So he took up a good 30-45 minutes messing with it, and then another 30 minutes of my session hand-tracing the design. Also, (big one) this experience made me realize that every tattoo artist is NOT exactly good at art. Im honestly convinced that this guy just learned how to tattoo maybe online, but doesn't actually know how to draw skillfully. Anybody can trace a stencil, we all did that in 1st grade. He just basically half-a5$ed my tattoo, it looks like a 2nd grader drew it. And here's the worse part. It didn't help that he's a stoner. His girlfriend and he literally sat there while he tattooed me, and smoked thru literally 4-5 blunts of Reggie, right over my face. I'm sure this didn't help at all. Just no. As you can tell, I put a lot of trust in them. But I stand here today, to say Somebody needs to revoke his tattoo gun, and put it on ice buddy. They should never post a special again if they can't stand on integrity. 0 out of 10 stars but yelp helped y'all out by making me tap one star (I'm so blowed at yelp for that, they don even deserve that one star, not for tattoos) so that's all. And this some temu type shii, so I would think twice before messing with these folks. He calls himself the "coverup god" but now I gotta get his work covered. I left a review on their instagram post for reviews, and they blocked me. Just not trustworthy individuals

Phil is the best!! He's done one for me and one for my wife. His work is unparalleled!! He takes…read morethe time to really understand what you want and delivers the end product in spades! It's been 20+ years since my last tattoo, and I'm ready to schedule more now that I know where to go for the absolute best! He's not cheap, nor should he be. I'll happily pay for quality. Highly recommend for anyone wanting ink in Atlanta or anywhere else. I'd travel in a second for his talent!!

I saw the owner of Memorial, Phil Colvin, for my fine line/color/floral/watercolor tattoo…read more I was assured that Phil (w/ 35 years of experience as a tattoo artist) had the abilities & experience to handle this particular style. I provided Phil with a design in the initial consult and a (slightly edited, but essentially the same), design via email a week before the tattoo date. I also brought the image to the actual tattoo appt. Phil is a very nice guy, and owns a clean and professional establishment. He clearly has many years of experience as an artist. While I receive many compliments on the end result, I felt very frustrated during the process with the following: 1.) He added black outlines to a tattoo with very little black outlining (design had it only around the daisy). I found this out the hard way, as I had my eyes closed at the start to manage pain & was trying hard not to move. I didn't realize he had done it until I asked "What are you working on right now? I'm trying so hard to be still for you, that I'm having to keep my eyes shut." I have read much online about the topic of black outlining, and the responses are a mixed bag. 2.) His colors (the shade of green on the leaves, etc.) often did not match the original 3.) He did not choose-- or was not able-- to include the level of detail that the original design represented 4.) He made some other minor artistic decisions that were different than the original (ie: the shading on the daisy). 5.) A couple (not all) of the watercolor marks on original design did not turn out well, and I had to return 2 weeks later to get them covered up with leaves. I spent another $200 going back to Phil to get the small corrections made. In general, if any tattoo artist feels they cannot or do not want to accurately transfer design --- body (or feels that a specific element will not transfer as well), they should COMMUNICATE that to the customer. Something to the effect of, "I see that the design you provided doesn't have much black outlining. I think that black outlining is important because of ______ reason. Therefore, I am going to recommend that we do_______." Two-way communication is critical to the process of getting something permanently inked onto your body. He also was dismissive of the tattoo artist that I hired independently to do the design (a Germany based woman who does freelance design work, through fiverr.com). He said, "She just probably grabbed these photos of flowers off the internet; she's clearly not a tattoo artist." Which couldn't have been further from the truth!

We wanted to get fine line Star Wars themed tattoos -- we provided the image and they advised to make the image a little bigger so the lines won't look shriveled over time. We agreed with their recommendation and got to the table with not much of wait. Everyone was very inviting, the place itself looked really cool and eclectic. I immediately thought of coming back for a flash deal if we were ever in town again! Very clean, very sterile, and very friendly -- so why one less star?? Unfortunately both our fine line tattoos have faded by the end of the week. The pressure didn't feel deep enough for either of us and the line work is VERY light. We already want them touched up but since we're not from the area, we'd have to find another artist. BUT that shouldn't take away fully from the good experience! Maybe if we weren't leaving to the airport after this, we would've been able to speak up and say to go a smidge thicker. Or perhaps we should've visited in the beginning of our trip so we can return for touch ups at the end of our trip after the first couple of days of healing. Not sure. But still good vibes here!

I stopped by early in my trip to check availability and not surprisingly there wasn't much. The books were booked but they told me that an artist did walks-ins on Saturdays at 3pm and to come in around then. Being super anxious I got there about 2:45pm that day and found out someone else was even more anxious because the appointment was gone. Bummed, because I really had my hopes up I then talked to another artist, Hank who asked me what I was trying to get done. Ironically, he did a lot of sketch designs and I was looking for just that kind of tattoo. He knew the tattoo wouldn't take too long and agreed to take me the next day which happened to be Easter Sunday. Hank was amazing. While I can't say it was completely painless because I don't think any tattoo ever is or will be, overall the complete process was. He drew my design essentially overnight. When I came in the next day he showed it to me, and the thing I love about tattooing and art in general is what I had in my head of what it was going to be like wasn't exactly what he drew, but I loved his vision so I changed nothing but the overall size of the tattoo and we went to work. He gave me great instructions afterwards and it never turned red at all. It looked perfect the entire time. The healing process was amazing. I live in Florida but will absolutely make any trip to see Hank for future tattoos because it's absolutely worth it.
