We had an 1110a tee time and Frank the starter had us out right on time. This is an exceptional course in my opinion and I've played over 100 courses so far. The tee boxes are all in great condition, the fairway grass is great and the greens are exceptional. Very well manicured and fast. Most of them are not flat and depending on the pin placement will determine you level of difficulty. It's a challenging course and you'll be using every club in your bag. Water comes into play on several holes, either small ponds or creeks and in some cases marsh areas. The fairways are very generous and not a lot of fairway or green side bunkers. I especially liked the elevation changes and the elevated tee boxes The Par 3's are all nice distances and are really fun holes to play. The guy in the ProShop was great and all the Staff we came in contact with were helpful and friendly. The electric carts were good and we had no problem there. There were only a few nits. The driving range only allows hitting off mats only. There is no chipping area but there is a putting area. The asphalt on the cart paths is very broken up and sparse throughout. It's a very scenic and visually appealing course and you will see lot's of wildlife; ground hogs, chipmunks, all types of birds including a full grown turkey. The food options at the club house were disappointing. Even at 1110a they were all out of hotdogs and other hot food options. They have cold pre-made sandwiches which they will microwave for you on request By the time we made the turn, there is a a grill where they are cooking hot dogs and burgers. You have options for adult beverages and other cold drinks. They don't offer a Senior or Veteran discount which was disappointing. The green fee with cart was $115.00 which I thought was a fair price.

We called and asked for a tee time and they gave us 230, made no mention of the fact it was only for 9 holes. $56 is steep for 9 holes but I'm only going to be in this town once in my life so I'd like to play the whole course. When we checked in the pro shop employee told us it was only for 9... not what I was expecting and very disappointing. He said carts were due back by sunset -30min, which was 636pm. Front 9 played slow (no one's fault), we get back to the pro shop at 440pm and asked if we could walk the back 9 for full retail price. The answer was a definitive "no", zero rational given. The employee wasn't rude about it but he wasn't offering any explanation and refused when I asked to speak to the club superintendent. Seems backwards and absurd for a course to refuse revenue with no good reason. If he would have said "oh the back 9 is closed for maintenance" fine, at least it makes sense. I don't mind being told "no" provided there is a logical explanation, this was the opposite. Very vexing, had a good score going too. Boooooooooo!

So we decided to play and hope for better weather. By the 4th hole we were wet but not soaking. I teed off on the 4th hole par three, and my 7 iron slipped from my hand flew up in the air and landed stuck up in a tree about 20-25 ft up. This is my second day playing with my new clubs. There was nothing we could do, we could not reach it, or even reach the branches to shake the tree etc. About 3 holes later the ambassador came by and asked how it was going etc. and I told him about my club in the tree on the 4th tee box etc. I described as best I could where it was etc. He said, "let me take a look". I wasn't very hopeful :-( As we were teeing off on the 12th hole the Ambassador rode up to us again with my 7 iron in his hand. :-) Wow, what great customer service... service above and beyond the call. This was amazing to me and definitely made my day. As soon as I got my club back, the drizzle stopped, the sun poked out and I played much much better for the remaining 7 holes. Thanks for going above and beyond with excellent customer service and a 3 1/2 hour round. Thanks again NN

It's been a major challenge with Sagamore Hampton for 4 + years now about physically challenged…read moregolfers (handicap) access. We are just out playing now for our mental health with friends trying to enjoy what we can with what we have. Sagamore has just not been receptive to change. Just bad business to actually harass people by following us around and not saying anything to other golfers that disrespect the course and rules everyday. It's very noticeable and I know my friends see it too. Golf is hard enough on our bodies, but to always have to look over my shoulders makes it not fun. I have plenty of facts with pictures and documents to support my concerns as a disabled veteran. It took 2 years to get the parking spots properly marked and there still is not enough per ADA Laws. Been getting a lot of stuff done around the house and garden looks great.

A lot of trees are gone, the swampy area (which we called the flats) seems to have been drained, and I noted the course was in excellent condition. It seemed to me to be shorter and play easier than I remember, but I really only remembered 2 holes (#10 at the end of a runway, which i remember as #1 and #2 which i remember in general but not where on the course it was). But... it's been 40 years and I may be misremembering. Anyway, the course is forgiving. My drives were not spectacular, but u was able to hit approach shots on or near enough to the green to score mostly pass and bogeys... in a soaking rain. As a veteran, I payed $38 to walk, which i thought reasonable. After, i went to the grill for lunch. However, no one had noticed me for two minutes, and, since I was wet and uncomfortable, I left and drove back to connecticut. I definitely want to go back on a warm, sunny day!
