Amazing service! Our car broke down and we were stranded in Great Smoky Mountain National Park with no cell service. We managed to get to a ranger station and called AAA. They sent Dewayne and he was amazing! Not only did he tow us to the Chevy garage but he dropped us at the airport to get a rental car as nothing else was opened on a holiday weekend. He was so kind and helpful and he even called us later to make sure we were able to get a car and that we were safe. He even threw in some local trivia along the way! Highly recommend. read more

I have been a customer of AAA since 1994 , car broke down today approximately 2 miles from Foothills Wrecker Service , have been in a hot car for over 3 hours already waiting on Foothills Wrecker and now they tell me it will be another 3 hours I will be filling out a complaint with whoever will listen , this is absolutely unacceptable and also will be Going with someone who DOES NOT USE FOOTHILLS WRECKER SERVICE !!! Kind of like going to a hospital - having to call a towing service is never a good day - these people saved my family on a terrible snowy night I'm sure this area remembers fondly, the night before Christmas! We have AAA with the hope that we never have to use it and these guys came through in less than an hour, in the country, in the mountains, in the snow, while snowing. Although we may have enjoyed a White Christmas it was solely due to the assistance of these men - who worked on the night before a holiday and pulled my car back onto the road. We and several other families- there were about 6 cars backed up on top of each other in the same predicament- were able to be home in the warmth because of these guys. This place makes money by prowling bridgeway apartments and towing the vehicles of their visitors who don't park in the very few guest spots they have! I had a friend who stayed ONE night with me because my dad passed away and they towed his car. He works for a local fire dept and all of his gear that he uses to save people's lives was in that car. We were forced to pay the over $200 fee to get it back as he had to work the next day and management was not available to speak to. After explaining the circumstances, we were met with a reply that simply stated that it was their contract to tow cars in that parking lot. What a terrible way to run a business! I sure wouldn't want to be known around a town like maryville as a crook who preys on those who are grieving and our city employees to make a quick buck. read more

On Friday afternoon (Sept. 25), I was backing out of a driveway on Overland St. (which is on a hill) in Maryville, TN. I backed out a little too far and slid down an embankment. The front of my car was not more than 5-6 feet from the road. My car was entirely undamaged but I was unable to get traction to get back on the road. First, I called AAA but when that was taking a while I realized I could summon a truck via the AAA app, which I then did. The truck was summoned from Foothills Wrecker Service and showed up about 20 mins later. The driver was friendly, quick, and precise in getting my car out without any damage. He said that this type of winching was not covered by AAA and I would be charged $125. We also discussed the option of going through my insurance to cover the charges and ensure that my car was ok. I did not say I would or would not go through the insurance; we merely discussed it as an option. He towed me to Foothills Wrecker Service which was 1.1 miles away. I paid the $125 via credit card, pulled the plant material off the bottom of my car and left. When I finally realized that this service was in fact covered by AAA, I called to confirm with them that I was correct. They said the service was covered but that Foothills Wrecker Service was claiming that the service call was cancelled by the driver because the driver thought that I was going to file an insurance claim. I never said that I was going to file an insurance claim, nor did I because my deductible is $500 and there was no damage done to my car. AAA then told me that my only option for recourse was to file a Reimbursement Claim with them (AAA) via mail. Next, I tried approaching Foothills Wrecker Service directly to give them the chance to do the right thing before involving AAA at any greater level. I visited their office around 2:30 on Monday (Sept. 28) and spoke with the woman at the front desk. I presented the facts of what happened on Friday, showed her the pictures of the incident and asked to be refunded the $125 because I am covered for that service under my AAA membership according to the member handbook. She pulled up my case, evaluated quietly at first, and then quickly became brusk, dismissive, angry, and flatly told me that she would not be reimbursing me. She asked me if the truck driver and I had discussed processing the situation via my insurance. When I said that we had discussed going through my insurance as an option, but that I had not agreed to any particular course of action, the discussion was over for her. She said that because we had discussed it at all, now it was a "he said, she said" case and that she would not refund me anything, and I would need to go through AAA. The towing and winching service itself was wonderful and performed in a skilled and timely manner. However, everything I experienced of the service after that point was absolutely horrible. I was lied to at the scene by the driver in that he said that AAA did not cover the service and therefore I would be charged $125. Then the woman I spoke to at the front desk on Monday was quickly combative and angry, dismissive of the relevant facts of the case, and entirely unhelpful. I was astounded that an establishment with such awful customer service would be granted a service award by AAA in 2018 that was proudly displayed on their wall. Mostly, I am disappointed because what should have been a quick and pleasant service by a AAA endorsed establishment has instead been one of the worst business interactions I've been a part of so far. I now know that I was correct in my understanding that this service was covered through AAA (contrary to what was claimed by Foothills Wrecker Service) because after submitting my case to AAA, I received full reimbursement. Although I am happy that AAA agreed to reimburse me, I never should have been charged in the first place. read more

Excellent staff and care for us - had a breakdown in the Great Smokey Mountain national park and they were timely in helping get our vehicle to the nearest garage. AAA sent them to my home when my truck wouldn't start. I told the dispatcher that I believed I needed a battery so they could bring the right one just in case. Their diagnostic printout stated: TOW RECCOMENDED (their spelling) DUE TO CHARGING SYSTEM ISSUES. The problem was a bad alternator and not my 13 month old battery. Patrick, the driver, knew I didn't need a new battery, he had the printout in his hand, yet still tried to tell me I needed to buy the new one he brought. I wasn't given the diagnostic until they were leaving, and although the printout says a tow is 'reccomended', no tow was offered. I reported all of this to AAA, of course. When I called Foothill Wrecker Service to discuss this issue I was talked to extremely rudely. Wow. The lack of respect and the apparent assumption I was a fool and could be conned into buying a battery I didn't need, make me say you should avoid them. My 18 year old son's car broke down tonight so he called AAA, who sent out Foothills Wrecker Service. The wrecker driver arranged with AAA to drop my son off at UT Medical Center on his way to the mechanics. Rather than driving into UT Medical Center, the wrecker driver chose to drop him off on the side of Alcoa Highway at the Cherokee Trail exit. It was 8:30 at night, dark, barely above freezing, raining, and my son was in dark clothes. The wrecker driver proceeded to take the car to the mechanics whom had me on hold, waiting to speak to him. The driver said my son had requested he be dropped off on the side of the road and my son says the wrecker driver told him he didn't want to pull into UT because it'd be hard for him to turn around. I called the manager at Foothills, who identified himself as Mike. Mike told me my son had requested to be dropped off there and he would believe his 40 year old wrecker driver before he'd ever believe an 18 year old. AAA confirmed the arrangements were to drop off at the hospital. After speaking with the manager I advised I would be posting the treatment we received on public forums to which he threatened to sue me. So people, here is my review of Foothills Wrecker Service. If you would like your car towed by someone who has your safety in mind I would suggest another service. Foothills is ok with dropping teens off on the side of the busiest and most dangerous highways in the county, in the cold, dark rain and let them hope for the best. read more
