It's located near to the downtown center of Hickory and there is parking all over. The playground has all sorts of climbing and swinging things going on that are ideal for helping your toddlers burn off energy. Most of the park is fenced off which is great for helping keep kids from possibly wandering off and the limited access gives parents the opportunity to see anyone getting too close. There are tables and benches for picnic and lots of shade. Plenty of spots for the grownups to sit while the little ones play. The park opened in December 2016. Lowes Foods is the naming sponsor, while CommScope and Corning Inc. Foundation also stepped up as lead donors to make the park a reality, in addition to numerous other individuals and groups. ATA Winners for Life Mooresville is a wonderful place for kids wanting to learn self defense,…read morediscipline, and leadership. Mr and Mrs Bowen are amazing; they are dedicated and caring, excellent mentors and leaders. They exemplify the values of ATA and effectively teach respect, communication, honesty, disciple, and self-esteem. We've noticed a huge difference in our child since he began 2 years ago. He is more confident, stronger, more respectful, and persevering. The black belts are also great mentors to the younger kids and support them in their growth. ATA Winners for Life not only values families but supports them as a community. We are so grateful to them. Highly recommend.

What you need to know:…read more You can bring in coolers and even a grill! Pack all the food and drinks you need. There is not a lunch spot here or (near here) to buy food from. There is tons of seating available, typically a four chair, table and umbrella set up. There are some tables kind of tucked away in pretty spots but these are all first come first serve so arrive early. This establishment is CASH ONLY. The water is not "pool clean". There is a lot of sand everywhere and the water looks more like lake water. CAREFUL!! Stairs, paths and walkways are NOT level, or the same size; watch your step. The place is a bit run down and I didn't notice any life guards. But nothing looked hazardous. There are plenty of entry and exit points into and out of the water. The shallow end is 9inches and the deep end is 9ft In the women's bathroom there was only one "changing stall" - such as it was - and two toilets that were working questionably. For little ones: They can hang out in the shallow end, or go down the assortment of little slides. The 16 month old with us had a fun time. For big kids/adults: There is a rope swing, a large slide and a volley ball net. The 17 and 21 year old with me had fun. 12 and under could probably spend all day here. (At $8-$11 a person that's not bad!). After a few hours the adult [kids] were bored and ready to go. I did the big slide a few times and it was fun. I could see us potentially going back. It did get quite crowded about 2pm when we were leaving.

The other reviewer is right, the chairs are plastic and somewhat flimsy, but we didn't go to sit down. The water park is relatively small (what you see in the pictures is the entirety of the place) and it feels a little bit like you're going back in time, but it was wonderful. My 3 year old and 5 year old loved the waterslides and playing in the water. The water was chilly but refreshing. Know before you go: Bring your own food/ drinks (no alchohol), they have bathrooms but no showers, bring sunscreen and don't expect a fancy water park. It's a quaint little place that is charming and fun.
