Quite a good range of foods - much more than the usual inner city foodworks offerings. There was an awful smell towards the frozen section and instantly regretted going in that direction. Overall it was quite good. read more

We were greeted by the owners beautiful dog, then the owners themselves. They were warm and genuine. This little place has it all: hot meals, sandwiches, cakes, pies, sausage rolls, snacks, drinks, tea, coffee... not to mention locally made crafts. We had breakfast and it was well priced, not fancy, more home-cooked, but definitely in a good way. There's a few tables inside but if the weather is suitable, go to the deck out the back and enjoy the views over the gully. There's toilets available for customers, and sufficient parking out front. Give this place a go!

HOLY MOLY, this is an expensive IGA! I know Mallacoota's off the beaten path and everything, but…read morenot SO far off the beaten path that it should have prices like this. I have no idea how the locals survive -- maybe the prices drop substantially outside of summer, or maybe locals get a special deal or drive to a cheaper store elsewhere -- otherwise, their grocery bills must be astronomical. I will say, though, that this IGA crams a huge variety of things into a very small space, so you can find almost everything you need. This was surprising. For example, I didn't really expect to find zucchini on my remote camping trip to Croajingalong, but lo and behold, there it was -- so we made some nice campfire pasta with zukes. It was quite fresh, too. My suggestion, though, if you're coming to Mallacoota at high season -- try to bring the majority of your groceries with you from home. Otherwise you may find your holiday budget blown on IGA alone! (Note -- there's one other little supermarket in town, but it was closed when we were there, so I have no clue what kind of prices they're charging.) Will say though that this was some of the friendliest service I've ever received in a grocery store, small town or otherwise. The girl who helped us find the bags of ice and the girl who was cashier were both super super nice and cheerful even though it was the busy holiday season and they were close to closing time. Really made me get a nice warm and fuzzy feeling about Mallacoota and its residents. Naw.
