y experience with Sean Stokes and RisCassi & Davis was extremely disappointing…read more I came to the firm after a bad experience with prior counsel and made my expectations clear from the beginning. I am a working professional, communication matters to me, and Thursdays were particularly difficult for me. Unfortunately, communication became one of the biggest problems with this representation. I frequently felt that Sean did not listen to me or take the information I provided seriously. When I researched publicly available information about my own case and brought facts to his attention, instead of discussing the substance with me, I was sometimes questioned about how I obtained the information. Conversations about the potential financial value of my case were also unnecessarily difficult. I eventually moved important communication to email because verbal communication had become so frustrating. I was also disappointed by how much administrative work I felt I had to perform myself. At intake, I personally obtained the police report and copied and provided records at my own expense. I hired a personal-injury firm expecting that once I supplied the necessary information, the firm would take responsibility for moving the case forward. My greatest concern, however, was the evaluation of my injuries. I repeatedly felt that my case was being treated primarily as a soft-tissue injury despite my concerns that something more significant was going on. When settlement negotiations began, the insurer's initial offer was approximately $10,000, which would not even have covered the medical expenses associated with the claim. After approximately three rounds of negotiations, the offer had only reached roughly $20,000. I ultimately changed attorneys. After changing representation and further developing the medical evidence, my claim was presented as involving a significant cervical spine injury rather than simply a soft-tissue case. My subsequent attorney obtained the full $100,000 insurance policy limit. That difference in outcome is ultimately what defines my experience. I understand that no attorney can guarantee a particular settlement and that additional medical evidence developed over time. However, as the person who has to live with this injury, I needed an attorney who would listen when I raised concerns, investigate them seriously, communicate professionally, and be prepared to litigate if a reasonable resolution could not be reached. I did not feel that I received that from Sean. I found his communication at times condescending, and I often felt that discussions became more about challenging what I was saying than listening to the client. I also entered the representation believing I had hired someone prepared to take the matter to court if necessary, while my experience ultimately left me believing that settlement was the overriding priority. Switching attorneys was difficult and caused additional stress and delay, but in my case it ultimately resulted in a dramatically different evaluation and outcome. Based on my personal experience, I would not use Sean Stokes nor would i recommend this law firm.

Unfortunately, my experience was deeply disheartening and disappointing. Instead of offering understanding, he was very cold. he told me, "Don't come in here with the tears," and "I don't think I can help you." He also mentioned his own family problems during the consultation and said the case could cost thousands of dollars without giving me a clear answer. When I asked for clarification, he cut me off with "Stop it." I left the office feeling hurt, confused, and unsupported. I understand that lawyers are busy and may face their own challenges, but clients deserve respect, empathy, and clear communication, especially when they are going through a stressful legal matter. It was one of the most discouraging and cold experiences I've had while seeking legal help. Needless to say he told me he'd get back to me and I haven't heard anything from him yet!

I'm a life long musician and was worried about losing all of my musical belongings. They assured me that my musical assets will be protected. While the case can't be filed until payment is made in full (it's just shy of $3k for my case, probably the normal), they gave me peace of mind that things won't tumble down on me prior to when I can pay them in full, and that there is plenty of time. $500 retainer paid, I'll probably be able to come up with the rest in the next 2-3 months hopefully. Paralegals seemed very competent from my observations which is very important and often overlooked in a law firm. I'm at the beginning phases of clearing up my financial mess, but I finally feel confident there's a way out that won't strip me of assets belonging to a craft I'm deeply involved with and care about. We'll see how things play out, but I feel very relieved thus far and my interactions with the firm were very positive. Read other reviews, my advice to meeting with any lawyer is going in with a clear head, despite what may be going on - sometimes life doesn't allow that though (like maybe an unexpected death in the family), but I've had months to process my feelings prior to making the appointment and knew what I was getting into. I get it can feel daunting if it's your first time seeing a lawyer, but they're there to help you. Just let them. There's still work to do, but I feel this firm can handle it. As far as a bankruptcy case, it makes total sense for them wanting to be paid in full before filing for you.

His experience, clarity and patience made the whole process much easier than it otherwise would have been. He was prompt and good humored in responding to the email questions with which we barraged him over several months, and helped us secure a very good resolution of issues that arose from the home inspection. When problems arose with the sellers at the time of closing, Brad came up with a fully satisfactory solution that protected our interests and worked out well for all. His legal fees were better than reasonable -- in fact, in view of how well he did his work, his services were a bargain. We feel extremely lucky that he was recommended to us by others; now it's our chance to pay the favor forward.

He was slow to respond, rarely kept me informed about the status of the process, and was often rude, dismissive, and condescending when he did respond. When I followed up about the status of the estate, he responded, "The more I have to respond to you, the more time it takes from getting the work done." On another occasion, he told me, "I wish you would let me do my job." I understand that attorneys are busy and that estate administration takes time. But when you work with families navigating the loss of a loved one, there should be a basic level of professionalism, compassion, and respect. Instead, I was made to feel like a burden for asking reasonable questions about a process I was paying him to handle. Losing my mother was already an incredibly painful experience. His lack of professionalism and compassion added unnecessary stress and hurt during an already difficult time. I expected an estate attorney to make an already difficult process easier - not to make it harder.
