Monte Verita is actually a hill in the city of Ascona, which is currently the place (Centro Stefano Franscini) where ETH is holding many of the conferences organized by its professors. The hill has a history of its own; in the early 1900 it was the home of a community of artists, who were advocating for a carefree lifestyle, based on nudism, healthy diet and sports.
The restaurant there on top, besides the wonderful view, still holds on to the (food related) principles of its founders, so it's worth climbing up there for lunch, if you happen to be close by. Don't worry, it's unlikely that you'll be welcomed by nudist waiters :) read more
