The Bex salt mines are an interesting thing to see on a rainy day in Switzerland. You should visit the website ahead of time and reserve a spot in the tour prior to going. The website offers clear instructions on how to get to the Salt mines. If you are taking the train it can be a bit confusing, as you need to take a special shuttle bus to the salt mines, and you purchase tickets for the bus from the driver. The bus pick up times are mentioned on the website. It's not obvious which shuttle goes to the salt mines, and I had to ask. The mines are set back in the woods, and the area is beautiful. The tour starts with a ride into the salt mines in a tiny train, that is so small, you don't at first think you could fold yourself up and fit into it, but somehow you do, and off you go. This is definitely not the thing to do if you are claustrophobic. You ride in the same cars the miners used to use. The cars take you to the heart of the mine, were you get out and take a walking tour of the salt mines. It is very interesting and beautiful down there. They even have a cellar area in the mine that one could reserve for an event and they provide catered meals and drinks. Looked like a unique place to host an event. read more
