This is the first time that I've ever reviewed a church before, so I'll put it into categories of…read morehow people judge or decide to love a church. The building: it's not your grandma's church where pews and such. It's in a gymnasium of sorts. You can see the basketball goals overhead. The floors are beautiful and the seats are padded. The subtle barnwood gives it the country feel. The people: the ages were a perfect mix. I won't get too far into that, but it's not my grandma's church or anything like it. The children stayed in the auditorium for praise and worship and then were dismissed afterward to go to children's church. One thing that made me excited about being there, was the excitement on the kid's faces as they skipped away to their service. I miss my daughter being that little and when she was young, that was important to me to find a church where she was happy. That's the main reason why I've been to a ton of churches in central Kentucky. It's hard to find somewhere where the entire family is happy and healthy. I love Gary Brown, the pastor here. He's one of the most genuine pastors that I've ever heard. He was the founder of Grace Christian, in Georgetown, so we were somewhat familiar with him from visiting there several times. He does several weekly videos on The Journey Facebook page, so if you want to check that out first, it's easy to find. The start time: It's pretty early, starting at 10 on Sunday mornings. Right now, that's the only Sunday morning service. I think they have a Wednesday service too. And they will soon start a Sunday night service at the Lexington location that will soon open off of Spruce Street. The location is in Midway, almost to Frankfort. It's pretty convenient to Lexington though, directly on Leestown Road.
