THIS IS A WARNING. I had a sinus lift and implant post put in years ago and we PAID THE DOCTOR 10K IN CASH.... for a "discount" I had already been through other dental work procedures so I have a high tolerance to pain, and I get it you are at the dentist. However this was the most traumatic dental experience ever. It was uncomfortable, the dentist was completely not aware, and overall they just lacked compassion at FOCUS DENTISTRY.. EVEN AFTER 10K CASH. Years later I am still dealing with the issues this dentist caused. Ive had great dentist since, my current dentist has actually apologized for the work that focus has done. Essentially after 10k CASH they implanted two posts too close together that NO DENTIST OR SPECIALIST can finish the implant work. I have literally been to multiple dentist and without teeth in these places has caused my face to start to fall.. I have reached out to FOCUS DENTISTRY and not only were they no help... and lacked all compassion, they also were holding 3k extra payment that I had to force them to return. This dentist should BE BANNED. My new treatments are going to cost me upwards of 90k because of this person. I am warning you, do not go to FOCUS DENTISTRY. If it goes well that will be by chance. The office staff are strange and weirdly devoted to this dentist, they refuse to provide information etc. I have filed a complaint with the medical board. DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST. I do not trust this dentist office. I was told I needed a crown, so was my husband, and so did my sister. Every visit I was told I had to pay a random amount up front and would later get the bill from insurance only to find out I shouldn't have paid anything. Do NOT go here. Dishonest dental office. I came in for an oral dental checkup as a new member of the Delta Dental HMO. After the xray, the dentist wanted me to take a CT scan (for additional charge) as that he cannot read the xray. Looking at the CT scan images, he bashed the work of all my previous dentists as incompetent, lousy and poor dental jobs. He then "recommended" a treatment plan that includes deep cleaning and replacing the crowns for an out-of-pocket cost of $4000+. I denied the recommendation as I did NOT feel that it was necessary and I had no issues with my teeth. All I wanted is a regular teeth cleaning (prophylaxis) but they refused to do it. They insisted that I do the recommended treatment. "I came in for a car wash and was forced for a car detailing that costs me thousands unnecessarily". STAY AWAY from this office. read more

Just paid much more for a truly deep cleaning at my new dentist. It took twice as long with modern equipment.

This place is amazing. If you are looking for a place where you don't want to feel any pain this is the place to go! I have gotten root canals and other types of work and somehow I always feel pain especially the stabbing pressure. This place isn't as expensive as some places in reseda. Plus this place has lots of parking and a beautiful area, I felt comfortable the moment I walked in. Sally the receptionist is super nice and helpful. I use to say that I would rather give birth than to go get work done at the Dentist. I'm happy to say that it isn't the case anymore lol well I wouldn't mind having another baby but I will fix my teeth first before I decide that. Haha anyway. I'm coming here to get everything done from now on, no more waiting on pain. I don't care if it costs me an extra $1,000 I hate the needle pain. You can always talk to the receptionist about the insurance and everything they accept. I for sure know that they accept care credit. My bff and aunt n uncle come here too they recommended me. I love it! The assistants and dr are nice and very busy but Still manage to do a good job. Its been 3 hrs so far I'm good but hoping the pain stays at this level. Dr did say that it will hurt since I got other work done but I'm glad that I didn't feel needles. Seriously I can't recommend this place anymore! Stop by you won't regret coming here. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. The practice came recommended to me by a friend, although the actual dentist she saw was gone from the practice when I called to make an appointment, so I said the dentist they have now would be fine. Huge mistake. It had been a year since my last cleaning, and I had a wonderful highly reputable dentist in San Francisco who said my teeth were in good shape a year ago. After getting my teeth cleaned, the guy at Focus (Agkhani) said all 7 of my metal fillings needed to be redrilled and replaced. I thought it was a little weird since my teeth had been fine a year ago, but didn't think twice about trusting a dentists opinion. I showed up to the first appointment for one side of my mouth and got them filled. Afterward he said two were very deep and I would have to get root canals if I experienced any pain (keep in mind I am 23 and diligently take care of my teeth). I freaked out and called my dentist back home, who also thought it was suspicious and highly unlikely that all 7 fillings had to be replaced in the first place. My dentist back home said he typically only replaces cavities if they begin to hurt, and my teeth were fine. He so graciously agreed to come in on a Saturday morning when I was home in the Bay Area to take a look before Focus drilled the other side. Sure enough, he said there is no way he would even think about drilling my teeth unless I had pain, as all my childhood fillings looked fine. Meanwhile, on the "deep" fillings the focus guy mentioned, I am experiencing excruciating pain two weeks later, cannot eat with that side of my mouth, and thought my mouth was going to explode with the pressure on the airplane. He clearly screwed something up or drilled too deep and hit a nerve, when my original dentist would not have even touched the teeth since the fillings were fine and weren't bothering me. Focus dentistry is an intrusive practice that performs unnecessary work that will probably cost me a root canal. I will never again take dentistry for a grain of salt, and will take a day off of work to trek up to San Francisco for the rest of my dentistry needs because of this horrible experience. read more

After 40 years of going to the same dentist in Santa Monica he decided to retire. I was very upset because of the trust and rapport we had built up over the years. Several close friends of mine recommended Focus Dentistry in Agoura Hills based on their friendly service and care they provide their patients. I have NEVER written a review for anything before but felt the urge after my first appointment. They are one of the few dentists that are open on Saturdays, which is really a plus for me since I work during the week. The dentist and everyone on staff were so attentive and concerned about my well being which put me at ease and made me feel very comfortable. I must say after reading these three bad reviews, I was really surprised after such a positive experience. I certainly don't dispute these reviews since everyone has their issues, but will still definitely refer those who ask me for a reputable and compassionate dentist to give Focus Dentistry a try based on my experience. They're also really a "fun" office...I know that sounds odd when you think about a dentist! Dr. Garrett who treated me and Alfred, his assistant were gracious and made me feel very comfortable. Kim, who was just adorable, was on staff that day and went above and beyond to make me feel at ease also. I've been going to Focus Dentistry for about 6 years now and the dentist has changed several times, but this doesn't bother me because I continue to see the same hygienist, Natalie, who does a wonderful job. I love that I'm not just "another patient" and we've been able to build a relationship over the years; it makes going to the dentist much more enjoyable. She has also provided me with special tooth brushes to reach the hard to get areas to avoid future issues and I've been able to prevent needing a gum graph because she and the dentist were able to catch the issue in time and instruct me how to take care of it. I highly recommend Focus Dentistry and if you can get an appointment with Natalie, she's the best! read more

I have been to the dentist when I was younger and honestly anyone can say that they hated the dentist. I know it sounds bad from since freshman year in high school I did not go see a doctor (yes I still brushed my teeth twice a day and flossed too) but when I finally found a dentist I first went to the office in Simi Valley and they took great care of me! Started my Invisalign process there and eventually moved over to this office.. The setting is great, location is awesome but most the service, professionalism, care, respect and friendship is wonderful.. I am for sure recommending this office.. Great experience!! read more

Dr Dan Smith has left the office and I see no reason to return. When I called to have my X-rays transferred to another denist they didn't even ask why?? A mess! They totally screwed up my billing and I have left NUMEROUS messages to try to get it cleared up, which they never return. The receptionist (Melissa) had the gall to tell me that my teeth must not have been a priority to me as my teeth were in need of a deep cleaning! My family has been going to Focus Dentistry for years but switched dentists when Dr. Smith left. The front staff is incredibly rude especially the receptionist Melissa. We wanted to have our x rays transferred and Melissa was so mean about it we ended up hanging up the phone instead. Their customer service is absolutely disgusting. I went to Focus Dentistry today for a deep cleaning, inlay, temp. crown and filling. I did not schedule the filling, but was having pain, so they pushed that in with no questions asked. Through the procedures my pain level and comfort were always a priority with the doctor. Amazing service and very kind people. Top level service and practices. Would not recommend any other dentist in the valley. read more
